I wasn't expecting the plot twist but also i didn't watch the original movie yet

Its a light hearted story.

I clicked on this movie by mistake but continued to watch it ?
I stayed for the actor. Cuz i like his acting a lot ?

The start was really good.
The cast is also good.
Its more like ... Reality instead of being cliché impossible drama track.

I liked jin goo's character a lot ... And also the girl from all of us are dead ...
The plot twist ... I didn't like it at all ... Didn't except it.
You need to be mature enough to accept everything from the plot twist till the end. Cuz things happens.

But i liked the girl's story.

Time travel... They didn't make it cliché or unrealistic.
I liked that everyone accepted their fate at the end.
I hope writers stop making dramas so realistic i wanna escape reality that's why i watch kdramas. I don't want to face reality but here we are, 2022 kdramas r all about facing reality ? no thanks I'm happy in my unrealistic world ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ

Could've Been Great

Ditto (2022) had the main essence of the story down already. The casts were also good in portraying their roles. Especially the main lead, Yeo Jin Goo. He was able to flawlessly show the emotions needed; from falling in love, being paranoid, jealous, up to being broken. The cinematography was also brilliant. The usage of colors to differentiate timelines and create mood was perfectly executed.

The downfall of this movie was it's flow. It failed to show the relationship of the other characters to the main lead, Kim Yong. And these relationships are the backbone of the story. This is what would've make all the difference. These relationships are what'll make viewers invested to the story. Sadly, the movie focused on moving from past to present which led to very disorganized story.

As an example the past storyline:
The friendship of Kim Yong to Eun Sung. They were supposed to be best friends. But in the movie, it seemed like Eun Sung is the only one portraying best friend. Kim Yong was suddenly this overly jealous and paranoid boyfriend to Han Sol. Then his relationship with Han Sol also seemed rushed. We weren't given enough scenes to be invested in their story. We just see Kim Yong being really inlove with her, but on Han Sols part, there weren't enough scenes to staple or depict her feeling the same way. If the movie gave more light and exposure to their relationship, I think, viewers, such as I, would've felt more about their story.

its ditto, choose between love and dreams

siri, play ditto by new jeans :'))

well, the song represents it all. but the song is not part with the kmovie (just a fact, and the song is by my opinion since some says that new jeans' new release with the same name represents the movie, but its not haha)

i'll make this review short and concise since I need to explain further why I rated it higher than the viewers expected it to be.

I'll go first with the story, its more of a fantasy-youth movie that talks about choosing your dreams or love. I think it was like a fate to begin with, but the fact that the ending seems to be surprising that the ml pursued as a book writer based from his experience, but he chose his course as mechanism, until he realized that when kim yong saw han sol as his first love, the ending predicts that he choose his dream over love. While han sol and eun sung end up together, got married and had their own child which is mo ni, one of kim yong's commuication buddy (?), sharing their own experiences in college, with such coincidence and meet-up that unexpectedly never met each other until the ending, they met as mo-ni's future time. then that's where I realized that the book was a sense as well. The storyline seems interesting, but I think I would really recommend if this movie turns to be a 10-12 episode series.

The cast and the characters were cool! All the main casts where one of the rookies and non-rookies that i've been hoping for them to shine in their future projects. I was happy to see improvements, most especially to yeo jin goo (first impression of him was on Hotel Del Luna) and jo yi hyun (she was my favorite ever since AOUAD). Kim Hye yoon was still good at this drama after she switched roles from her mysterious-hopeless girl (movie midnight). Again, this was a must watch and hoping more recognition from the main casts!

Overall, it was a good must watch, but I guess you could feel a little heart break at the end because it seems a little unexpected for me. Recommended and good for beginners as well! :))
(sorry for the long review even if I told myself that i'll make it a little bit short, but I hope you guys understood the point that I made :< )

I haven't watched the original, but I thought this was a truly great movie. There's just something nostalgic about movies set in the 90s, and this delivered everything to make it special: the props and set design, the outfits, music and the slang used within the script. Not sure why this is getting relatively low ratings, but in my opinion, this was a great watch that leaves you feeling warm and able to reflect. A super lighthearted movie, definitely put this on if you're craving a simple slice-of-life genre movie to watch.

Edit: so I did see a couple of reviews saying that some questions weren't answered at the end, but I feel like they shouldn't necessarily be answered. Us, as watchers, we can assume and play around a bit to see how the story played out. I do agree however, that the plot dried out towards the end, but the feel of the movie itself made it up for me to enjoy it a lot.

The love triangle that never made sense.

It doesn't make sense that he gets to sacrifice his love for her to exist and he also helps her achieve her love. They never explained how the parents got together, them being his ex and his bestfriend and the ML broke up with her. The logic doesn't make sense and how does a tortoise travel that far. The idea that he had to sacrifice his true love for another stranger he never met never made sense. Looked like the writers forced the love angle of the parents. Nahh this movie just made me angry and sad, korean romance movies always leave me hurting. Is that a forever existing trend.

Nice story

This was a nice little movie to pass time. It was very interesting and it kept my attention throughout the whole thing because the way the story plays out left me with questions in which I wanted to keep watching for answer to. I will say it wasn't necessarily something 'life changing' because I have seen similar plots like it , but I did enjoy watching. It isn't SUPER predictable, and that is a big bonus in my opinion. The re-watch value is iffy, personally I don't consider it to be something I'd have the desire to watch again, but overall I do think it's a good movie to watch at least once in your life.

Sweet One Time Watch

This movie was okay really hyped in my personal opinion. It was alright nothing new ♡

PROS:
◇Great actors
◇Nice Story
◇Short Movie
◇The ending was good

CONS:
◇"Plot Twist" was predictable all the hints and foreshadowing was there.
◇Love Trangle ? (not a fan of that trope)
◇The pacing was a little off in the middle

Over all a good one time watch. Also enjoyed the present day friendship a little more and wish we got to see more of them.

It was ok, I'm surprised I finished

I thought the movie was a wholesome simple one about a stranger connecting with another through time and talking about each of their crushes. While this was true, I wasn't thinking too much of the following plot twist that ensued. The plot twist led me to believe the guy friend is a jerk. How is he gonna pick up his friend's turtle, call it the same name, and continue to raise him with his kid? Also, turtles live that long? The girl also isn't any better for always being near the guy friend despite having a boyfriend. I feel bad for the main guy.

I didn't expect to tear watching this on the plane, but a tear definitely trickled down near the end. It was a bittersweet note learned, although the very last clip ruined it for me. I wish they kept it simple instead of throwing us off with timeline madness.

A Gift Given Through Time

Yeo Jin Goo (Hotel Del Luna) and Cho Yi Hyun (All of Us Are Dead)

In this Time Blend, two College students attend the same University and get to know each other, while using a Ham radio. One wants to interview the other, but the two can’t seem to quite meet up. It will be discovered later that the reason that they can’t meet up is that one is in 1995 and the other exists in 2021.

This is a charming Time Blend type of time travel drama. There is a definite mode for the time displacement (A Ham Radio), but there is no movement through time in the movie Ditto. Two times are blended or shared, as there is communication across time. There will be lots of head talk about the gift one person can gift to another across a time barriers. Ditto is worth the time commitment.

Talking across a divide of time.

it’s okay

i liked the movie and the main reason i watched this was because of kim hyeyoon. however, i really disliked how they gave no explanation or context whatsoever to eun-sung and han-sol relationship and the ML just accepted and that’s it. like why was han-sol hanging out so much with eun-sung if she was dating another guy? they also made it look like the relationship between han-sol and the ML was super rushed and didn’t really gave us time to see how their relationship would evolve. it made it seem like han-sol didn’t care about kim yong at all.

the movie is pretty and i really liked jin-goo’s acting in here. i just wish the story was better

The real star of the movie is definitely Yeo Jingoo’s

, Ditto was an interesting watch. I’m not sure if I would watch it again or not but either way, it definitely held my attention until the end because I wanted to see how things would turn out. The first part of the movie is stronger, as it’s more focused on them as characters and the university atmosphere, as well as setting this friendship between Yong and Mu Nee, who are from two different times. It was fun seeing them use the radio, whining to each other, pouring their hearts out as well as following their university struggles (mostly love ones). I expected Mu Nee to be a bigger character than she actually is as she doesn’t show up nearly as much as I thought she would (we know barely anything about her lifestyle for example) but I can say that I enjoyed Cho Yihyun’s acting here so much more than in All of Us Are Dead – she was such a cutie.

The real star of the movie is definitely Yeo Jingoo’s Yong as he’s carrying the plot the entire movie. He’s chaotic, nice but crazy chaotic, and I’m not even sure if I liked his character or not. He had me torn, especially when the plot twist kicked in and he started acting like a maniac. Okay, I’m being dramatic but so was he. Some of his actions were definitely way too dramatic for the situation in question, especially regarding his relationship, because we have no clue why he even liked this girl so much in the first place to the point he was going insane thinking about not being with her. King, even in 1999 you needed some therapy. On another hand, we get Yeo Jingoo once again crying in the rain and he’s the master of that – he invented having a mental breakdown in the pouring rain.

It’s hard to talk about Ditto without spoiling the main plot twist which pretty much follows the entire second part of the movie but I will say that Ditto was more and less what I expected. More, in the sense that I enjoyed the friendship aspect of it as well as the main two characters themselves, and less in the sense that it was definitely bordering on the too-dramatic line by the end of the movie which can be a hit-or-miss. However, I think the film rounded up nicely and gave a satisfying ending to everyone, both from the past and the present. My final rating was 9/10 but if you like these actors like I do, give it a go – it’s a nice movie. A bit sad but nice. And there’s a pet turtle!

This was different from the rest of the time travel genre movies and i liked it!

[Mild spoilers ahead]

I haven't watched the original movie but I suppose this one is build up on the same plot skeleton as that one.

We all want to know what the future holds for us. Maybe show us a direction?
But knowing what happens in the future isn't always the best. Sometimes being ignorant and in the moment seems better. Sometimes knowing it makes us take steps we wouldn't have otherwise.
And this movie is all about this!

I personally liked how this movie was executed as well as the plot. Let me explain why!

This does differ from most of the time travel ones as they usually let go of a character or somehow make them end up together.
I do agree that the pace could be slowed down to an extent as it feels rushed but leaving that aside, this was a beautiful watch.
This felt a little realistic to me (imo).
Knowing the future doesn't always end in a good way. Maybe Kim Yong would have had a different ending if not for these interactions but he would have had to give up on his dreams for love. He might have regretted this love latter in life(A lot of people just want a happy ending here but yall are avoiding a lot of real problems here) . And the love the both experienced wouldn't have lasted for long because if he indeed trusted his gf, he wouldn't have been paranoid and jealous of his bestfriend whom he has known for years. He himself also felt like this was for the best...the turtle scene shows it all. He knew he couldn't change the ending and decided to just accept it. He also really liked(not romantically) Mun Nee enough to sacrifice it all. She showed him a way when he felt stuck. He wasn't happy with the course and just continued for love. Mun nee was a miracle to him and so was he to her. She showed him a direction and he wanted to do the same for her. It's clear from what he says at the end to her and him returning the favor to her through the umbrella scene.
This was beautiful. Too many ways to interpret it.

Its a good one time watch which makes you think a little and makes you appreciate being in the moment and ignorant of the future sometimes.

Maybe he would have had a different ending if they wouldn't have connected or maybe the ending would just have been the same except a different path? We would never know!

Also this gives out huge grandfather paradox vibes and I love it
