Unwanted things become the most needed

Started as the synopsis mentioned in mydramalist. But then as long as the story progress it becomes something I didn't expect. At the middle of the story what a twist !!! Surprising but needed. At the end there are more twists to come. The romance was fluffy. First love ,youth, friendship these things really play a vital role in our life. Beautiful ending. The great message this drama gives us that that sometimes things don't actually happen like we want. But those things actually happen for our own good in near future.Your life is related to your family, friends, classmates and your lover. So whatever happens in your life don't mind and move on. Just wait for the future to see the hidden meaning lied behind those unwanted incidents.

Acting was good . Just sometimes the FL personality looked a little bit rush to me .But it's a drama of just 10 episodes . Episode duration is just 20 minutes+ . So it is quite negligible . Except that it was a good watch. If you like popular time travel drama/movie focused on youth like Blue birthday,Somehow 18, Closer to You, To my 19 year old, Shining for one thing, Someday or One day etc then I absolutely recommend it to you . It is a not thriller but it also holds a heavy meaning like the others I have mentioned here.

Sweet

Sweet love and it's problems , it's combination of romance, supernatural powers and some bitter experiences.
I love Shion chan ??

Shion's actress i think is the best choice for this role .
Hasegawa kun's actor is also good. Somehow emotions and face mimics are proper.
Mitsuki is perfect, she's not the second role but i think her role is capable to be.

Some other roles as shion's parents, umino kun and sahara kun and kaoro chan are In this drama. But main story is about Shion Hasegawa and Mitsuki.

It's story become really interesting in two last episodes.

Highly recommended if you want to watch sweet love and it's problems

Someone peaked in high school

This drama wasn’t magical to me at all. At first I was blindly watching but soon I realized all the problems in it, and specifically the problematic things.

It’s so weird that this girl really hated her life so much over some tiny that happened in high school. She hated it so much that she thought her life thereafter was miserable and there were no redeeming qualities compared to getting rejected in high school. Now it was a horrible rejection, but she was 29 and years out of high school.

The romance isn’t good. The lead actor is very pretty, the main girl is ok- but she wasn’t ugly at all so I can’t boy into the rejection at all. The lead actor was a jerk to her in a different timeline, but he is basically a different person in the new one- the guy really likes her for her looks and I found no reason that told me he didn’t other wise. He was weirdly possessive and their whole romance I wasn’t buying, neither was their chemistry. The acting is so stiff, but the dialogue wasn’t helping.

I seriously can’t understand why for 12 years this girl couldn’t get over a high school boy. She fantasizes about getting with a high school boy and I thought that was weird, but after he knew I really had to think- this is predatory at this point. He knows she is an adult but is ok with that? She is living in this timeline as her 29 year old self but just looks like she is in high school.. because she is wearing a uniform.. there is no difference in looks from 29 to high school. Like even if I was stupid and blindly watching- I can’t- the immersion is hopeless with this one.

The whole idea of love is so juvenile. I guess it’s because this is based off a manga… but there are things this drama could’ve done right but didn’t. That main point being the main actress not being ugly, not looking 29 when she should, etc. There is too much filler when this could’ve been straight to the point. The acting pauses for dramatic effect and characters act as if their whole life depend on romance. That is the main character; her personality is she is in love with male lead. I can’t support that with her being 29.. I am at a loss here. I watched just for fun but ended up being irritated.

This girl really wanted to give up her whole modern life so she could date a boy in high school. Everyone peaked so badly here. Male lead is so bland and is just pretty- off the bat she just likes him and we don’t get why? I’m so appalled and offended- this drama is for young kids- wait it isn’t because the main character is straight up grooming the male lead because she is actually 29. I wasted my time. Please don’t waste yours.

If you want a high school romantic comedy watch My School President. If you want a Japanese High School drama watch Keita Hatsukoi. If you want time travel with romance watch Scarlet Heart. If you want a straight Japanese Romance watch an anime because they adapt much better than this did.

A Show That Gets Better With Time

Now, I'll be honest with you right off the bat. When I first dove into this drama, I was ready for some cringe, but I wasn't quite prepared for the full-on cringe fest that ensued. Seriously, I was squirming in my seat like a kid who accidentally ate the wasabi instead of the avocado.

But hey, don't go running for the hills just yet! Because despite my initial reservations, there were some seriously redeeming moments sprinkled throughout this series like little nuggets of gold in a sea of awkwardness.

Let's talk about the characters, shall we? First up, we've got our leading lady, Shion. Bless her heart, she starts off a bit like a lost puppy stumbling through a maze of bad decisions. But hey, who hasn't been there, am I right? And then there's Mitsuki, the friend we all wish we had - the kind that sticks with you through thick and thin, even when you're making a complete fool of yourself.

Now, let's talk about that time-travel twist. I mean, come on, who doesn't love a good time-travel plot? But here's the kicker - it's not all sunshine and rainbows when you start messing with the space-time continuum. Things get messy, folks, and "Seishun Cinderella" doesn't shy away from the consequences of playing with fate.

But fear not, my friends, because amidst the cringe and chaos, there's a glimmer of hope. The ending? Oh, it's good. Like, really good. It's the kind of ending that makes you want to stand up and cheer.

So, in conclusion, "Seishun Cinderella" may not have been my cup of tea from start to finish, but hey, sometimes the journey is just as important as the destination. And let me tell you, this journey? It's one heck of a ride.

sweet & cliche on the best way possible.

First of all, I only saw this from tiktok and wasn't expecting anything at all... these days I've been dropping dramas like a hot potato and it's rare for me to finish a drama in one seating.

I love the plot, It was okay but I struggled to understand it a bit because I am not really very fluent in English and when they explained it sometimes just goes outside my ear iykyk but I enjoyed every bit of this drama, maybe because I relate to it as well as I am a sucker for first love and second chance trope, I love how they made Mitsuki a very likable love rival, if that's what you call it?? once she was rejected, she was out (she even supported the leads throughout their relationship!) also, kaoro was such an unlikeable character, she was very selfish and I feel like she wasn't very apologetic even if it was entirely her fault all of these happened. there were a bunch of plot holes but it was still very enjoyable! I love the lesson and the message it conveys and I would probably rewatch this sweet drama again.

The acting was good although I admit that what first caught my attention was honda kyoya, the reason why I started this and ended up liking it. Even though he was very pleasing to the eye, I could still see a room for improvement in his facial expressions as he was a bit lacking in that area, other than that, the cast was perfect! especially the fl, she played her part very well and I would like to see all of them in more dramas in the future!

The OST, I was actually looking for this drama's playlist on Spotify but I could only find one, I would be very grateful if anyone could link a playlist, I liked it very much! def a 10/10 for the OST!!

I would rewatch this and you should probably watch it too!

Cinderella....again?!?!?

Yes it is a timeless story! No matter how many times they remake it, how many different variations they manage to come up with, I am going to lap it all up and ask for more!
Actually, I dropped this after the first episode: I really did not like the female lead actress. No, I really did not like any of the actors because they look too old as teenagers. But eventually, since ALL of the actors looked too old, I got used it and did not mind it at all.Still I took me about a month to pick this up again. And I binge watched it overnight: episodes are short so it is an easy watch.
Ugly duckling in school, Hagino adult has become a beautiful woman and a make up expert thanks to being cruelly rejected by her highschool crush. Angry, after a fight with her best friend, she tears a photograph of them together and is transported to time when the photo is taken. She realizes she had become a teen again but kept her adult knowledge which she uses to become a swan and have her crush fall for her.
Time slip is one of my favourite tropes. The reason for the time slip was a curse put on her by a jealous other best freind of her best friend.
Here it is used to show the FL that her extreme shyness is not wrong and that people can actually SEE her behind the mask she wears. Beauty is only skin deep and real friends and lovers see beyond that. In the beginning she wanted to hold on to her newfound high school popularity but eventually came to understand that she was cheating and that all her life experiences had made her the person she's showing to her high school friends. And even though her friends and her crush did not want her to leave, she explained her reasoning to them.
The pace of the drama was changing all the time: sometimes very slow and repetitive then too rushed towards the ending. I felt like there were two episodes too many in the first helf and an episode missing in the end.
The main couple had decent chemistry and they were quite cute together. The best friend was a bit disconcerting: she wore a happy go lucky face at all occasion but it was obvious she had deep wounds she was hiding and did not know how to deal with them but avoid them!
This turned out to be a decent watch, not too complicated and charming with lovely music.

Simple and Real

Yes, I realize I called a time-travel, alternate-universe drama REAL. First of all, hear me out. This drama was not phenomenal by any standards, I wasn’t completely astonished by it and it certainly didn’t make my 2022 complete but it was a drama that I liked.

I went into this drama with 0 expectations because it was still airing. I’m not sure why I had no expectations but it did certainly surprise me. It was good, no overreaction. I mean sure there was a little, but for a j-drama, the overreaction level was strangely low. It was taken slowly and well, portraying the story and characters as best as it could. The scenes and quality were nice and showed a pretty scenery and the actors in their best light. The actors acted out their characters best they could.

I don’t remember being especially impressed with any of the plot points but I did appreciate the friendship between the main female lead, the second female lead, the first male lead and the second male lead. They were a funny little friendship square and I enjoyed every moment when they exhibited friendship rather than romance. I also appreciated Kaoru and her minimal appearance acting as the second FL’s friend who was jealous of the first FL. It was a real-ish portrayal of how old friends feel about their best friends’ new friends.

The music was nothing special, it did fit the drama though so no complaints in that department. I’m going to be completely honest though, I wouldn’t rewatch Seishun Cinderella. The ending was the only part that I actually thought was impeccable. Everything else was normal.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad drama but I don’t find it especially good either. It was just a normal drama and I appreciated the slow flow (not slow burn) but wished it was paced a little better and that it didn’t feel so…dry.

Second Chances

Warning: Time travel trope

When I began this series, I didn't realize that it involved time-travel. I try to shy away from those. I just don't enjoy them. But once I started, I had to see the series to completion.

This drama is about Shion, a 29 year old female, who never got over her HS first love and his rejection when she confessed to him. She never gets over her obsession, but is also so traumatized by his words that it shaped her life. Luckily she gets a second chance.

I was in cringe mode until the school camping trip, which was actually adorable. At episode 8 (of 10) I finally was able to say that I was truly enjoying the show. That being said, I absolutely loved the friendship between Shion and Mitsuki throughout the entire series. Mitsuki is the friend that everybody needs, and Souma finally becomes the crush worth waiting for. And Shion finding her confidence and realizing that within her struggles lies her self-worth is a lesson we should all learn.

This drama has a hard-won happy ending, so there’s that to look forward to. I really had to question whether I wanted to go on watching this by episode 3, but I’m glad I made it through. And there are parts that I wouldn’t mind watching again. There is even one part when you first see Kaoru that is actually a foreshadowing, but due to the nature of time-travel, you may or may not actually consider this part as being resolved. I do not, however, consider it a plot-hole.

I would consider this a good story for those who don’t have problems with cringe or second-hand embarrassment. I appreciate the fact that the story addressed problems with traveling backwards and the consequences of changing the past. Individually, I loved all the characters....even the gardener. LOL. The acting was really good by all cast members. I was glad that the story moved on without (as the title may suggest) any beauty pageants or things of that nature.

I regretted starting this program, but I don’t regret finishing it.

The moral of the story is: Be careful what you say. You will never know what scars you may inflict with your words.

This was a cute drama. It's not a new or groundbreaking story, but it is charming. It has just the right amount of teen angst to be enjoyable without making you want to pull your hair out, and it is often very thoughtful and heartfelt in how it presents its characters and themes. I do think the second half of the story veers a little too far into the angst and drama department at times, but it's not to a degree that is excessive.

I'm also mostly pleased with the messages the story conveys. The female lead lives with a lot of shame and regret as an adult and traveling back in time provides her with an opportunity for a do-over. But eventually, she realizes that she doesn't really belong in the past trying to fix all of its mistakes. Her life is back in the future. In coming to this realization, she decides it's time to make peace with her life rather than trying to change it. What she experienced in high school is part of who she was, which in turn influenced who she became, and she chooses to embrace that. My one complaint is that this realization and decision should have been accompanied with the acknowledgement that she is an adult, and that makes her different from her teenaged friends. As a 29-year-old woman, she's at a very different place in life then a 17-year-old would be. She has more wisdom and maturity, and her goals and desires are very different. It is simply not tenable for her to date a 17-year-old boy and have a 17-year-old best friend. Even in her 17-year-old self's body. So if there were one aspect of this drama I would change, it would be that.

Admittedly, the writers did create a plot hole in their story and their time-travel mechanics in the last couple of episodes that has already created some confusion for some viewers. My recommendation is to ignore the plot hole and just go with what the story gives you. For some stories, the science fiction/fantasy elements are meant to follow strict rules as part of the storytelling/world-building. For other stories, they are meant more to serve the narrative of the story, and if some rules are broken in the process, it doesn't really matter. This drama is in the latter category, and for my part, I think that's fine. The plot hole is not enough to break the world or the narrative, so I don't consider it a major flaw.

This drama was sweet and easy to watch, and I would recommend it.

Short, cute watch

I have the admit, the FL was pretty much working my last nerve, but she and the ML were very cute together. It was an easy watch that didn't take much effort, so it's good if you need a break between heavier shows. The time slip when the ML tore the picture didn't make sense to me, but whatever. I did like how, once you saw more of the story, he did like the original FL before she got a makeover. Wearing dresses at camp was laughable as well. None of that mattered to me, I enjoyed the show for what it was.

Good Enough

Japanese Drama " Seishun Cinderella " is a school romantic comedy with a time travelling twist.

The drama has all the right vibes, with a youthful mood, and all ther tropes and twists of a school romance. The two main leads, moreover, were cute together, however, the time travelling trope presented many problems for the couple, thus ruining the love story, as when the romance was strarting to progress, the 'from the future' protagonist would put a stop to it, thus messing with the pace.

However, the friendship between the girls was spot on, sweet and with smooth dynamics.

The performances were great by everyone in the cast as well.

Finally, the drama handled the fantasy element nicely.

So, overall, five out of ten.

for the most part it was okay

im a big fan of supernatural / sci-fi romcoms, so when i read that this j-drama has time travelling as a part of its plot i decided to watch it.

I'd say for the most part it was okay / cute ! except for the part that after FL time travelled back to 2010 (her highschool days) she was still attracted to ML who was 17 at that time (FL was basically 29 but since she time travelled she's back to being 17).

also, kaoru annoyed me because she wanted FL to be miserable just bcs her life is miserable (i know what she did is what caused FL to time travel but still).

i also want to add that the characters were pretty good but the chemistry wasn't that good. sure they looked cute but it just felt weird and awkward ? idk sorry ??

so yeah, if you're into time travelling stuff then you should give this one a try (the plot is really good and the loop was just perfect) ! but keep in mind that it's not the type of jdrama that will make your heart flutter lol but it was a nice watch (might i add that ML is cute so yeah lol)
