Having come out only 2 episodes of captivating the king i can already tell that they are very much alike. From the male lead being the king ,being weak and the female lead coming to the palace for the purpose of avenging her family .Loving the King at the start and then be heartbroken by the same person.

Captivating the King has the same timeline with my dearest, it set during a Joseon period where people went through severe hardship due to the Qing invasion. but they have different plot.

The tragic deaths of the female leads' fathers serve as a driving force in both series, giving rise to revenge and a thirst for justice. Additionally, both kings share a unique connection with the female leads' fathers.
The female lead in both dramas are wrongfully accused of crimes.
Palace politics play a significant role in both series, fueling tension and conflict.
Moreover, the second male lead in both series aims to marry the female lead, creating a distinct dynamic and adding an element of romance and competition.

Both are set within the palace and focus on the ML who is the king and the FL who is on a revenge mission against him, with the two sharing a past connection.

The guy feels gay when they loved withvthe same gender without them knowing that they loved is truly a girl. I like how the girl hides their true identity .

Both couples meet when the ML is still a prince, the FL then is assumed to have died and the ML becomes king, shifting into a harder personality. The two then meet again when the FL returns.

Plot: The story starts with the lead being held hostage in a different kingdom like it happened with 4th Prince.
