OVERHYPED but was Predictable
this might make me sound like a hater but this was really just a GOBLIN/TALE OF NINE TAILED knockoff , similar storyline with the same execution , for the way everyone has been hyping this drama i thought it waa gonna be SHOWSTOPPER , like it was gonna be something I've never seen before but boy was i wrong , dont get me wrong the casting was PHENOMENAL but that was it , thier relationship carried the entire drama with plot lines we've seen been don't over 100 times already but if you're into this TO EACH THEIR OWNWas this review helpful to you?
I could not avoid this one
"My Demon" is a drama i saw headlines of everywhere i went on the internet and my social circle,LOL. Everyone had great stuff to show and tell me about it so i was like, why the hell not? It was a exciting start and kept me on toes, this magical tale of a demon who makes a deal with a human. I felt the magic, darkness, enchantment and the romance in the air between the main-leads, reincarnated lovers and soulmates Do do-he & Jung Koo Won. Their exceptional love-story is the centre of it all in this epic tale where our demon becomes Do he`s savior in all the ways she never expected and she manages to stir feelings inside of him he thought he never could possibly feel. Jung Koo Won is a charming devil...witty, arrogant, dedicated, charismatic. And he thinks all humans are insignificant creatures...well except for when he meets Do-he,lol. I love this drama, its been so long since i watched a k-drama i really enjoyed like this one. It has one of the most stunning on-screen couple i have ever seen as well. This one gave me goosebumps, made me cry, smile and laugh and swoon with the magic and thrill of what was My Demon! Was this review helpful to you?

What a big disappointment
This feels like an ordeal, to be honest.I only started getting hooked at episode 5 onwards; the beginning wasn't bad, but I thoroughly enjoyed episode 5 and 6 without watching it in double speed (which, btw, I have never watched so much of a show through double-speeding...). I wasn't as crazy about it as the rest, but the middle of the show was generally enjoyable and nice to be honest (episode 5-10).
Visually, the series is great. The leads look great - individually and together -, the styling is exquisite (oh, to have DDH styling...) and the sets/colors as well as the cinematography are stunning. I also liked the OST a lot, which offers ballads but also moody Pop (the title theme is pretty cool - even with the cursive singing lol).
The acting is alright. In my opinion, Song Kang lacks depth in his performance and definitely shines more in action scenes that are intense (I loved him in "Sweet Home" for example). But I don't think he has the subtle or eye acting down just yet. There are some actors out there who do that very nicely (for example just recently Jung Woo Sung, or also Namkoong Min and Ji Chang Wook). Maybe romance isn't his strength, i don't know. Though SK played the lovesick, goofy boyfriend very well. He was cute with his infatuation with DDH, I will admit.
I enjoyed Kim Yoo Jung's acting a lot, especially in emotional scenes (or also in episode 12 with the past life storyline). She also touched me in the last episode. Her acting in the beginning of episode 16 was quite moving, she made me shed a tear haha!
The other characters - didn't care for them. They were there to create drama - Jin "Star" (can't believe there was a weird attempt to redeem her somehow...) - or some were there for comedic relief - the office people or Noh Soo An.
The story is badly paced and boring. This should/could have been a 12-14 episode drama, but they dragged it out way too much. The episode 14 breakup was also unnecessary and didn't do the plot (or my viewing experience for that matter) any favor as episode 15 was boring and dragged. The last few minutes of the final episode also felt endless. It's like they had several scenes as the "last scene" and just put them all together, more and more scenes added - like stop, put an end to it.
I think overall, this drama was okay but I think it's a little overrated. The acting is so-so. the story is okay but not crazy - it's a cute show/fantasy rom-com for the vibes, but it's not as grand as people make it out to be. Which is okay, doesn't have to be.

As boring as watching paint dry
As the saying goes: "Expectations are the root of disappointment."Despite the promising casts, this drama fell short of expectations, leaving me thoroughly disappointed. While it had an intriguing start, the narrative took a nosedive as it progressed. The perplexity of Dohee's decision to give up the fight for the company remains inexplicable to me. With a demon as her companion, what could possibly induce fear in her? :[
The narrative, midway through, hinted at potential plot twists surrounding the villains, aiming to engage the audience's imagination. However, this attempt at complexity fell flat once again, failing to deliver the anticipated twists and leaving the audience with unfulfilled expectations.
And... The final episodes added little novelty to the narrative, presenting a familiar plot that lacked originality. The forced happy ending for the couple felt like a repetitive trope. Truly a wasted potential. I feel bad for the casts.

I’ve seen this film before
I think there’s definitely an audience for this out there — if you are a fan of fantasy mixed into real life and adult romance (think Goblin, Legend of the Blue Sea, My Love From the Star, those classics) I think you’d really enjoy this. For me, it was just okay. I think I prefer my romance a little more down-to-earth and conversational; a lot of the more flashy scenes where they were saving each other didn’t really have a strong emotional impact on me and felt borrowed from the aforementioned classics, while the more domestic scenes where they were talking to each other or working together were stronger but not enough for these characters to set themselves apart from other dramas.
Additionally, and this is absolutely personal preference, I think I’m just not the biggest fan of linking saeguk and modern plots with the past lives and reincarnation premise. It’s been done to death (See Goblin, and most recently A Good Day To Be A Dog and The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract) and I just can’t find it in myself to care that much about their past story, since that’s all it is: past. Our non-immortal main characters have lived different experiences. I understand how it adds a level of angst to the leads (as if destiny works against them) as well as upping the stakes (from basic company politics, for example, to actual death) but it always just feels like a tangent.
With all that being said, this was just okay. I didn’t care that much for the modern plot about the company, but also didn’t really find the backstory to be all that memorable. The main characters are likable enough; Dohee is strong, and Guwon is a convincing demon that balances between being heartless and hilarious, but overall they’re both kind of cookie cutter characters.
This ended up being sort of “I started it so I might as well finish it” kind of show for me.

It was great at first but it became a major letdown
The drama was wonderful at first, it was entertaining and it was painful to have to wait until the next episode. The chemistry between the actors was great, as well as the aesthetic. However it wasn't enough to save the drama in the end.
The plot became lame and uninteresting after the two lead settled in their happy life and the revenge against the villain seemed to be forgotten.
As much as Do Do Hee and Gu Wong's sweet and funny moments were a delight to watch at first, it turned to a tasteless comedy that didn't bring anything special anymore because it didn't relieved the stress of the episodes as it did at the beginning.
Speaking of comedy relief, the gang could have been a nice touch but it was under used and didn't live up to its potential.
About the villain : it was interesting to search clues on his identities at first but the last couple of episodes made him mediocre, I doubt he will leave a long lasting impression on the kdrama's villains' book
The plot really went downhill after the episode centered on Gu Won's past life, as interesting it might have been, it broke the pace of the story and starting episode 13, it only went worse.
Episode 14 : unnecessary breakup, and the fact that Gu Won killed Do Hee's parents didn't actually brought much to the plot, especially so late in the story
Episode 15 : bad and disappointing
Episode 16 : also disappointing
It seems like the story and its characters lost their sparks and became of shadow of what they could have been

Will be keeping my review short
This show for me went from 9/10 to 6-7/10.Stellar cast, production, outfits bgm but lack of utilizing the story & giving depth. It started out so damn well & went downhill the moment they started adding filler scenes from ep 9 onwards. The mystery wasnt mysterying because they had to come up with the most predictable villain. The Writer just wasted jin gayoung & SML character. The SML was nothing but just a SML of any other kdrama & jin star was nothing but a one sided lover of guwon. I thought their role had so much more to offer. For a title like "Demon" on top of fantasy drama , it clearly lacked the demonic supernatural tropes it was supposed to provide.
Now on good side, i like the fashion sense of both ML & FL. I liked song kang's comical acting. He was clearly doing his job according to the script & did well. The comedy scenes before ep 9 were actually funny. I had a good laugh. But

It hurt my soul to write this review.
I am an avid Song Kang fan. I have been keeping up with his shows for God knows how long and I honestly can’t find an expression to describe how disappointed I am in this drama.I was majorly excited just like the rest of us. But as the show went on, I found that I was only watching to just to finish it and not enjoy it. As of the current, I can’t say that I’m watching it. I’m just skipping through and occasionally stopping at any interesting occurrences. Onto the rating.
Story- 7.0
The story had some major potential and they really could have took a lot more impressive routes that would be long lasting in the audience’s minds far beyond the current plot. The story lacks essence. At first glance you are reminded of ‘Doom at your Service’ and maybe ‘Goblin’, but what sets these drama’s apart from this one is the essence and originality they carried. All we are given is the surface of the characters. We never really get to know, love, and appreciate them outside the fact they are the main characters. Most of the reason why half the people love the leads is because of the visuals. I did too, but that’s not enough for me to look at fl and feel sorry for her about the fact that her adopted family hates her. I don’t know y they hate her so I can’t make any assumptions. we don’t KNOW her as well as we know the fl in let’s say DAYS(doom at your service). relationships or even her life outside the main lead box r never properly established.
acting- 6.5
As for the cast, I have nothing to say. I too have fallen prey to Song Kang’s tantalizingly visuals. But what I do have to deconstruct is the acting. The veteran actors absolutely ate this drama up and made it enjoyable outside of the main lead scene. The leads however…did not deliver as much as they normally would. Both are amazing actors. Jve watched both of their previous dramas and their performances actually moved me. I don’t know what happened in this drama, although I do think the script was to blame, some of the scenes felt forced and awkward. Forget the scenes where ml is sparkling and fl has a halo above her head. I’m talking about how Guwon transitions from serious to cute. Where he’s on fire. I can name a lot. Something about some those scenes felt like needles in my brain because it was awkwardly painful and the switch was too sudden and made me feel uncomfortable watching. The scenes would have been cute if they were appropriate for the time section. I think the random sprinkles of him watching attention or just being cute in general was the writer’s way of distracting the audience from the plot holes and major offs of the drama.
I could go off and write an even longer critique of why this show just wasn’t as it as I expected it to be but this isn’t a college essay so I’ll stop. However I do have to say that if the main leads were different…this show would not have had this much of a chance in the spotlight. It may have just been a show we use as a filler for time. But since we have the leads, I guess soaking up some eye candy isn’t so bad.

Disappointing
Another series that is disappointing and stupid especially in the last few eps.I was enjoying the show for the most part b/c the story was interesting to me. It's not my typical genre, but I thought the synopsis was good. The series ended up being nothing like I thought the synopsis would be. What I wanted was a love story between a demon and human but what I got was a story about bickering chaebols; one of which was extremely awful who brutalized ***********. Also, got some past life story that was completely unnecessary.
What I did like was the cast; Very good and I like Kim You Jung and this was my first series with Song Kang. I like him in this plus anyone who reads my reviews know pretty boys are my jam. I thought he and the FL looked great togther. I loved the character of Ms. Shin. Actress Seo Jung Yeon nailed the role as FL secretary.
The only character I sympathized with was Noh Do Kyung. The character broke my heart. Actor Kang Seung Ho was brilliant as someone slowly losing his mind and being tormented by someone who should have loved him.
3/4/24

The chemistry is on point
I have watched this 3 times! I absolutely adore the cast, everyone is well suited for their roles. I love the story line; there are some heart wrenching moments along with some very touching scenes. The woman who played Madame Ju…I love her! She has so much personality that comes through with just a look.
Star Jin - beautiful actress, she made the dance scenes look effortless.
The two main characters have such chemistry, you have no problems believing they belong together.
Well done!!!!!!!

predictable af = boring
they have chosen perfect actors for the roles, but the serial was so predictable and after first three episodes it became so boring and it was like that till the end, overall it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good -just typical kdrama that is sooooo predictable that it’s not even a fun to watch it :-( I’m not going to rewatch it for sure and I would not recommend to someone who is looking for a interesting/ entertaining story it’s just typical romance but with a drop of boringness. I’m just disappointed cause i really thought that it will be the drama of the yearWas this review helpful to you?

Stellar Cast and Visuals Can't Rescue an Inconsistent Plot
Firstly I want to start off with positive remarks about the drama that I think are praiseworthy:- Casting: In my opinion, each actor and actress perfectly executed their given roles - especially the main lead. Honestly, I didn't think Song Kang and Kim Yoojung's pair would have such a good chemistry, but seeing their both on and off-camera interactions proved me wrong.
- Visual effects: They made the series more visually pleasing to watch. And I loved the blue-ish hues that was present in most of the scenes.
Now let's talk about the plot of the drama that was the main downside of the whole series.
- The main thing that I hate about this and many other kdramas that's been released in the past few years is the inconsistency of the plot. They start off great. You'll think it's going to be the best drama you've ever watched, but when you reach the middle of it you'll realize that you've been completely mistaken about it.
By the trailer of the series, I've expected it to have arranged marriage as a main trope (and maybe if they sticked to it, the drama might have been much more successful? idk). But the whole hired killer to crime mystery plot ruined everything. The way writer kept traumatising Dohee with all of the 'almost been killed' events - couldn't they think of something else? (I understand that it's just fiction but still)
- The plot with No Sumin being the person behind all of the murder attempts also feels strange. I feel like it would have been better if it was someone like Ju Seokhoon who seemed all innocent but ended up having reasonable intentions to kill both Madam Ju and Do Dohee.
- And I agree that the plot just felt like a recycled version of older legendary kdrama plots (like Goblin, Doom at your service, Strong woman Do Bongsoon and etc).
Overall, I think My Demon is a good kdrama option to watch when you feel stressed and just want something to entertain yourself
