Agent Kim Reactivated is one of the more enjoyable Korean action-comedy dramas of 2026. The series balances family moments, humor, and espionage surprisingly well, and much of that success comes from So Ji-sub's performance.

One reason So Ji-sub feels perfectly cast is that he has played undercover and secret-agent-type roles before. He has the calm presence, experience, and natural charisma needed to make a veteran operative believable. He doesn't have to force the tough-guy image; it comes across effortlessly. At the same time, he gives Agent Kim enough warmth to make the family scenes work just as well as the action sequences.

My favorite part of the show was the relationship between Agent Kim and his daughter. Their interactions added emotional weight and prevented the series from becoming just another spy drama filled with gadgets and fights. The daughter was a genuinely likable character, and the family dynamic gave viewers something to care about beyond the missions.

I also enjoyed Agent Kim's friends and teammates. They brought a lot of personality and humor to the show, creating a sense of camaraderie that made the team feel believable. Their chemistry with So Ji-sub was one of the highlights throughout the series.

The only major issue I had was the portrayal of the spy agency chief. This is where I think the show lost about 1.5 points from what could have been a near-perfect score. Instead of feeling like the head of a modern intelligence organization, he looked and behaved like a cartoon character from an old American comic book. The long outdated coat, the decades-old cap, and the exaggerated mannerisms made him feel completely out of place compared to the otherwise grounded tone of the series. Every time he appeared, it felt like he had wandered in from a different genre.

Despite that flaw, Agent Kim Reactivated remains a highly entertaining watch. Strong performances, a likable cast, solid action, and heartfelt family moments make it easy to recommend. So Ji-sub once again proves why he is one of the best actors for these undercover-agent roles, carrying the show with confidence and charm.

Final Rating: 8.5/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐½

I am so invested in it currently!!!!

Aaaaahhhh!!!!!! This is going sooooo goood. i hope this gets a happy ending. Every move every character oh my God! They are just so good right now.
The story line is going very good. The way they portray the lead character and the struggles and the cuddles of a single father is just so vibrant. 💓

Vive Pa l stine

Dropping because it has anti pa l estine sentiment
couldn’t they keep the propaganda to only north korea and south korea? why involve a population that is already suffering so much. That’s so cruel and horrible did not expect this from them at all. My morality stops me from watching it further sorry i can’t ignore or act like it’s a different country

i am very bias when it comes to so ji sub's actorism

i just watched this because so ji sub is the mc and yes, it's still ongoing but i just couldn't help but type this. it's fantastic. yes, i know this is an overused plot and they just keep dragging it but the mc is so ji sub for god's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he doesn't make it cringe (at least, for me). i love looking at his sad eyes, the guy is not only a fighter but he could portray sadness well too! u can see it in his expressions, instead of just fighting the goonies. I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS. I LOVE MERCY FOR NONE TOO.

and this just inspired me not to have any social media presence or be this biggie something. i am someone who thinks if i dont have any social media presence or if i don't act friendly to others, i'll die. but watching this just made me think "oh nothing's really gonna happen, u'll just live" so it really help!!!!!! helped me build this alter ego of being mysterious and all of that shenanigans.

For the love a child. I Am Become Death........

SJS is a master class actor~
Currently 4 eps in and decided to put out feelers ahead of time for ppl to watch. It is DAM good~

Dr Lawyer was rough watch but was followed up with Mercy For None which felt like a return to old.
This has similar feel but harder tugs on the heart. For does not the love invested with your children give incredible strength and resilience to wonderful AND horrible things? That's the story here being told from two fathers with similar yet different rhetorics on the making.

MERCY FOR NONE PRO MAX

Popular plot, ahjussi retires from the military, becomes a husband, and lives a quiet disguised life, until the killing spree starts. Feels like Mercy for None part 2, same storyline just tweaked, with friends joining in this time. I really hope he lives this type of role alone and enter his villain role..

Kdramas really need to learn how to blend the KopiKo into the plot better, it’s been over a decade.

Am I still watching? Yes, but only for vibes. At least the cast is stacked with amazing actors!!

Good. Only some Islamists from SEA or other places are losing their head over a genuine fact.

Till now, great story.

Idaf to those Islamists who are saying Why Palestine and Pakistan !!! Dumbos so Hamas didn't carry terrorism over Israel in October ?? Israel didn't feel itchy to attack and wipe out Palestine all of a sudden.

And fvckin Pakistan !! It IS the land, the home of Islamic terrorism. The Army continues to breed terrorism there. Where was Osama Bin Laden found again ?? Where are the leaders of LeT and JeM (Lashkar e Taiba and Jaish e Mohammad) Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar are freely living again ??? In Pakistan only.

Why are Muslims from SEA and other nations so deluded to accept this fact ? The fact being 99% of terrorist groups are Islamic and they breed in such countries ??

Ig ore those haters. Add the drama to your watchlist.

Code-66: When a Lethal Black-Ops Asset Fails Basic Parenting 101

The premiere of Agent Kim Reactivated doesn’t just give us a standard high-octane revenge thriller; it exposes a brilliant, deeply ironic root conflict. We have So Ji-sub playing an absolute powerhouse of a covert operative—a literal human weapon—who is completely, utterly incompetent when it comes to the simple domestic laws of survival: understanding his own daughter.

While many will inevitably look at this adaptation through a pure genre lens and expect a relentless, Taken-style action-fest, the real genius of the opening episodes lies in its depiction of the devastating consequences of the "strong, silent" archetype. Agent Kim’s stoic, emotionally unavailable approach isn't just a character quirk—it is a foundational parenting failure. By substituting deep, vulnerability-driven communication with superficial provision, he leaves his daughter completely unequipped for the brutal social hierarchies of school bullying. The real tragedy of Episode 1 isn't that his dark past caught up with him; it’s that his emotional absence might have driven his daughter into harm's way long before the syndicate ever did.

The series now stands at a critical narrative crossroads. It can easily sink into an empty, stylized cycle of endless combat choreography, or it can swim to greatness by treating the violence as a secondary catalyst. For Agent Kim Reactivated to achieve masterpiece status, the ultimate tactical mission cannot just be a rescue; it must be a reformation. The real victory won’t be Agent Kim taking down an empire with his bare hands—it will be him learning how to look his daughter in the eye and finally become a real father.

So Ji-sub’s phenomenal, micro-expressive acting gives us hope that this character has the emotional depth to pull it off. Let’s just hope the writing chooses to prioritize family restoration over empty political tropes and cheap shock value.
Initial Rating: 8.5/10 — A masterclass start with a brilliant emotional core. It has the blueprint to be something profoundly human if it doesn't lose its soul to the bullets.

Agent Fantastic ❤️

I like how the just blame north korea, China, russia and some fantasy countries.

its not like taken but it is like taken.
its astounishing, and so accurate that i will watch it twice. the only stupid thing is that the subtitles are wrecked. the dont make sense. but its okay. at least the show is god. but it could be more gore, more blood, more violence. it feels lile censorshiped…are we in mystery land whre its forbidden to see some t*ts and gore but playing hangman or rocking women on newstime is okay?

Agent Kim Reactivated: Mild-Mannered Action Hero

🎬 Quick Take

🔹 Only 4 of the 10 episodes have aired as of this review.

🔹 My standard for rating a drama is simple: writing, directing, and acting are the foundation.

🔹 I started this because a Clark Kent-style office worker with glasses turning out to have a past as a special agent was enough to make me press play.

🔹 Give me a retired special agent forced to use the skills he thought he'd left behind to save his daughter, and I'm in every time.

🔹 Current rating: 10/10.

🔹 Drama Math: Agent Kim is not the only thing that's been reactivated. So did my habit of checking how many days are left until the next episode.

🔹 Would I rewatch? Without hesitation.

🔹 I still think you should watch and decide how it lands for you.

💚 Why You Might Like It

🔹 A Clark Kent-style hero who looks ordinary but clearly has much more going on beneath the surface.

🔹 An action thriller that gives the fight scenes a personal reason to matter.

🔹 A familiar setup that still works because the characters make you care.

📕 Overview

🔹 At the time of this review, 4 of the 10 episodes have aired.

🔹 Adapted from: The Naver webtoon "Manager Kim (김부장)."

🔹 So Ji-sub as Kim Do-hyeon (Manager Kim): A mild-mannered savings bank manager and single father who appears to live an ordinary life, but has a hidden past as a special agent.

🔹 Choi Dae-hoon as Seong Han-su and Yoon Kyung-ho as Park Jin-cheol: Former operatives connected to Kim Do-hyeon's past as he is pulled back into a world he thought he had left behind.

🔹 The story begins when Kim Do-hyeon's daughter goes missing, forcing him to reactivate the skills he once relied on and return to the identity he had left behind.

🌸 How It Felt Watching

🔹 The action pulled me in, but the personal stakes were what kept me invested.

🔹 The setup is familiar: someone with a dangerous past being forced back into action. But sometimes a familiar story done well is exactly what I want.

🎭 Acting

🔹 So Ji-sub was exactly who I wanted to see leading this drama.

🔹 He completely sold the Clark Kent-style office worker hiding a special agent past.

🔹 Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho brought their own personalities to the story, making the team even more fun to watch.

🎨 Visuals & Production

🔹 I liked that the director made the action scenes feel hard-hitting while still keeping the personal stakes front and center.

🔹 The fight scenes felt connected to Kim Do-hyeon's urgency instead of feeling like they were only there to look cool.

🎵 OST

🔹 "GO! GO!" sung by ALPHA DRIVE ONE

🔹 "Your Anchor" sung by Seo Youngju

☕ Tea Notes

🌟 What Worked For Me

🔹 The Clark Kent-style contrast between Kim Do-hyeon's ordinary office-worker image and the skills he had kept hidden.

🔹 The mix of suspense and action kept me looking forward to each episode.

🤔 What Didn't Work For Me

🔹 Ten episodes did not feel like enough, which probably says more about how quickly I got invested than anything else.

☕ SpillTheDramaTea's Rating: 10/10
