Not perfect but it's watchable

I think they wanted to copy the japanese style including some of the thai culture and elements but it was not really good??

I didn't watched the Japanese adaptation nor read the manga so I absolutely don't know the story and its characters. However, it's kind of disappointing when it didn't get my attention as expected and that in a BL, I was mainly happy and cheering on the side couple which is a hetero couple! I appreciate and enjoyed a lot Half and Matmi but I also like the friendship between Atom and Matmi.

Except the ton of product placement.. And Usually I'm aware of it and I don't mind it but this one was indeed a bit too much, I still find it funny, cute and somehow entertaining (although I found myself being on my cellphone playing some games and the episode playing on the background lmao). Not the best, not perfect but it's watchable to spend on my free time.
It also tackles some youth issues which are also relatable but I still don't think I'll rewatch.

The only thing that I love the most is the OST but also the couple of Matmee and Half lol

dont judge before watching it for yourself

All I’m going to say is that this is as perfect as the Japanese version and worth the watch if you want to watch a cute BL. I was hesitant at first because I don’t like remakes, but after I watched it, I realized that the show is not as bad as people say it is. The chemistry between the actors was really cute and natural, and the comedy felt fun without trying too hard. I also liked how the Thai version added its own charm instead of copying everything scene by scene. Some moments were changed, but honestly, I think that made it more interesting to watch. The characters were lovable, the awkward moments were adorable, and the emotional scenes still hit well. Gemini and Fourth did an amazing job bringing the story to life in their own way. Overall, this remake deserves way more appreciation than it gets.

The Chemistry is GOOOOD.

We got another adaptation of a Japanese BL into a Thai BL in My Love Mix-up and I will have to say this – THEY ARE DOING REALLY GOOD SO FAR. I mean, the Japanese BL are still GOATED but these stories being adapted for Thai media is giving us more stories about the characters instead. They are trying to put their own culture into it so that is really commendable and it worked. The story still follows the love story of Atom and Kongthap. Kongthap accidentally picked up the eraser that Atom borrowed from his crush but this supposed love triangle was all a misunderstanding. I think we can all agree that this all started as a misunderstanding but it soon led to a really good bond between Atom and Mudmee while Atom was also starting his relationship with Kongthap. So, yes, we have two main lovers in the story. We have the main love story and the supporting love story which is just as great as the main. I don’t say that often but I will say it here – the love story of Mudmee and Half is really good. Well, let us start with the main lovers of the story which are Kongthap and Atom played by Gemini and Fourth. The chemistry is intense with these two and I love that for them. I feel like I have grown a bit distant with Gemini with what he said but I found myself forgiving him in this one because he really played the character of Kongthap really well. He played the straight-laced serious kid really well and giving him nuance that would make you slowly fall in love with him. I think we also need to highlight that people like these do exist and they will need more time to ease with things so I am glad that Atom soon understood that, of course, with the help of Khao Pan. Speaking of Atom, the star of the entire show for me is Fourth as Atom. He is phenomenal and I can’t ask anything more from him. He is the star of this show from the very moment the start to end. I will have to say that what really made me so much in love with the show is his friendship with Mudmee. I know that he initially liked her but the friendship that they were able to build here is the best among all the BLs that I have watched so far. Fourth played the character with so much facial expressions that I am so impressed with his acting. The more emotional stuff might need a bit more polishing but he gave such a wonderful performance that I can forgive him here because it was really entertaining from start to finish. I like how aggressive he is after accepting that he is now in love with Kongthap but still playing this fragile counter to his character. I like it so much. He was so fun to watch. He was so charming that I feel like it is hard to resist a guy like him and the bond that he was able to build with Kongthap did not even feel forced at all. It is a slow burn kind of love story where they became more friends and they are so much lucky to have an older gay couple guiding them through this new relationship that they have. It is not easy to navigate such emotions but the help that they got is really important if you will ask me. I wish that this happens more in real life where we can be more out with ourselves so that we can be in relationships that are consensual and loving. There is something so good about Young Love that I really want to highlight and that is what they were able to capture here especially when they were deciding in which school to study in. There is something so simple yet honest on how this is what they think will be their biggest problem in the world. It is so pure. It is so sincere. It is so romantic. I actually enjoyed it. I think the same can be said with the supporting couple. Half is very handsome. I just want to add that and I think that his relationship with Mudmee had repetitive aspects to it but the portrayal is still very good that I can really forgive them. I mentioned young love earlier and this is just another perfect example of that where they are still trying to figure things out and they are still so unsure of so many things that are happening to them that I think it is very much understandable for them to be confused with how they will be doing things. I think the confusion that they had is still understandable and it is still very cute. The acting is also pretty good that it is working well. I think these young actors did an impressive job with their work that they were able to fully embody these characters well and gave us a feel-good show to watch. I am happy with this and I enjoyed watching it so much.

Cute but nothing groundbreaking

Idk why the reviews are giving this so much hate lol. It’s a perfectly serviceable Thai adaption of the manga/japanese original. Is it as good as either of those? No. There were things I liked about it and things I didn’t.

Kieta Hatsukoi relied on a combination of slapstick comedy mixed with heartfelt moments. This was far less slapstick and also removed some of the more dramatic moments from the manga (ie, the homophobic counselor). So it did result in it being less funny and less emotional simultaneously. Maybe it’s not fair to compare the two, but it is an adaption so it’s kind of hard not to.

I also hated that they turned the play into a musical lol y’all are talented but I can’t 😭

That being said, it’s just a sweet high school drama lol. Like perfectly mid imo. It actually follows the manga pretty closely, even the ending is pretty much identical.

If you’re just looking for something low-thought and cute, this fits the bill.

Light Coming of Age

I love Kieta Hatsukoi, it's one of my top favorite shows ever, but it ends really soon into the story of the main couple. My Love Mix Up gets to explore the relationship in full and with differences that makes it stand out on it's own as an adaptation. This is in reference just to the two shows, not to do with the manga at all. Both Atom and Kongthap learn to grow as people through their relationship with each other. Their mile stones of physical intimacy like holding hands and kissing are so sweet. The parts that I dreaded the most, but turned out to be a very memorable subversions was the classmates doing the play and especially the teacher. In the Japanese version it was a homophobic teacher, but in the Thai version, the teacher turned out to be also gay and both he and his boyfriend become mentor figures. It's so moving to see an elder queer mentors help Atom and Kongthap how to navigate being queer in a world that's definitely not always friendly. The mothers being so supportive and loving to their sons is so heartening as well.

I didn't like Mudmee's storyline. It's the same in both the Japanese and Thai versions. I don't think violence is funny or warranted in the context of any of the situations shown. Her strength is a funny gag, but not when it's to physically assault someone who did not do anything to deserve it.

It had its moments.

This series is not perfect. It had its moments. This can be seen with Fourth and his role as Atom. I felt that he was close to giving the same energy that Michieda Shunsuke did as Aoki in the Japanese version. Him with the two supporting characters and their scenes together actually stole the series for me, specifically with Matmi as they were so cute together. And he also did an excellent job with his coming out scene to his mom that he even made me teary-eyed. Now, in all honesty, I did not feel that Gemini was a good Kongthap when I compare him to Meguro Ren as Ida. Something...just wasn't there for me in his character.

I also felt like I was drowning with the introduction of so many supporting characters that at one point, I didn't care anymore. I just wasn't invested. The series also felt long and draggy that I actually identified two other episodes it could have ended at, and it would have still been a good series. But here we are at twelve episodes.

It was nice to get a longer storyline for Half and Matmi, because we are able to see more of them and the outcome of their relationship. I was super annoyed with the product placement, especially the contact lenses one. I don't know why; it just annoyed the heck out of me.

The music of course slaps and it was good seeing the Chinzhilla band in episode 11 from MSP. All in all, it was an okay series that unfortunately did not live up to the original Japanese version- BUT! It had its moments sprinkle here and there.

THE CUTEST AND OVER ALL OKAY FOR ME

This Drama is the cutest I've ever seen this year, It was so fun to watch and it was light , you will gonna have the feeling of wanting to go back to your school days again , I was really glad that they did all of the scene from the original and it was really cute and funny specially recreating the Over acting Aoki and Nonchalant Ida it was okay for over all , I also really liked how they changed some parts specially the teacher of Atom and the baker or owner of the Cafeteria. adding some love story in there and then half And Mudmee is one of the highlights of the drama !
In some ways specially on the last part, the drama went a bit downwards after showing all of the remade scenes from the original , we can really see that they have added a later part of the story there specially the next year activities and plays, the choosing their course on their college studies and the university they want to study unto and the confession to parents part of their relationship. It was okay on those parts but I feel like my expectation or the momentum of this drama went downwards , I don't know if the reason is the episodes are too long or there were so many scenes that it was rushed also on the last parts , but because of Atom's cuteness and also half and Mudmee this show was saved.
Fourth as Atom or Aoki , he killed this character ! like Aoki was so cute but for me in my opinion Fourth was cuter and adorable that made this drama so exciting for me , he was like the sunshine of this drama up to the last parts, there were parts specially during the last parts I got annoyed of him because he was so over acting and whining all the time but it was indeed the character of Aoki so there was no really problem for me about him all in all , I can see how good he is in his acting so cute super !
Gemini's being KhongThap or IDa , I got disappointed , he was too much of being passive or Nonchalant, the combination was good but in some parts he was just standing there and not saying anything , he was too passive , Ida of the Japanese version was Nonchalant but he was not too much passive , he also reacts and we can really see the chemistry of him with Aoki , too bad that maybe for me in my opinion , this is that thing that Gemini was not able to provide I don't know
Mudmee and Half Also one of the highlight of the drama , I really liked how worried and at the same time strong Mudmee is and Also how Half was always curious and slow to understand the situation .. I was always laughting because of them , MY favorite part of them was when Mudmee tried to be a cute little girl and always needed a protector but Half did not get it ! I laugh so much ! I also love his friendship with Atom
The part where Atom and KongThap have to confess to their mothers about their relationship made me cry a lot, only got confused the sudden change of KhongTap's mother, one days she seems disagree but suddenly she agreed , well If I am to see as adorable as Atom to be my son's boyfriend I would definitely accept him with an open arms. I also cried seeing Atom's crying face .. uwu ..
All in all the Drama was really good, it was light, it was funny , nice adaptation .. only that it seems went downwards at the end part .. for me but I really liked it < 3 I will gonna be missing Their sqaud ! an let me just say why did half and Mudmee did not kissed for real !! that was so so bad of GMMTV !! anyways

A so so series

As my reference of how good GF in MC and MSP - I put a lot of expectation on this until ep 4. Then I dropped everything and just continue to watch. I really don't mind ads but the way they execute it, it's so cringe. Sound effects were kinda off sometimes. The main leads showed more bromance than BL. The second lead took my attention more. The kisses were awkward. So obvious they are not comfortable. If that's the case, a kiss on the cheeks or forehead would be better. I don't know why they incorporate some MSP part to this. I'm not against on it, but this is remake/adaptation not a sequel. Gemini's acting is less convincing and Fourth looks trying hard. Overall the series is cute but unremarkable. Please take them away from high school plot because I won't buy it anymore. G4 have great potential - I hope their talent won't be wasted to a mediocre series. They deserve better BL drama. For now 5/10.

Did we watch AtomKongthap or FourthGemini?

I'm actually deeply confused about the last episodes. I think I'm missing something from the manga because if I remember correctly, the characters were so much different, specially the main character here played by Fourth. Am I missing something or did they just changed his personality traits?
In the japanese adaptation named Kieta Hatsukoi, the characters were more realistic perhaps they seemed more alive and they were pretty much acting like a normal person would. I don't hate this thai adaptation, don't get me wrong it's great and sweet but it's really THAI of them when you think about it. There's so much unnecessary amount of humour and it made the whole masterpiece look like a joke. It's not necessarily a bad thing, more like a reminder to people.
There is also so much product placement, are we watching FourthGemini or the products? Made me laugh but also got me angry at some point, their advertising is working.
The last thing, the whole 6 ep felt like watching a vlog of FourthGemini, did they just forgot their roles for a moment there? This whole story doesn't feel like the story of AtomKongthap, more like the story of FourthGemini. For some reason, I don't think they're acting, I just can't see it. All I can see is two boys enjoying some quality time together. Somehow, I don't think it was intentionally done by the directors, it feels like it's a mistake of the actors themself. They're not playing their roles, they're playing themselves. Don't get me wrong, I love them and I love their work big fan, BUT their character traits doesn't match neither do gestures, something feels off.
The original story is not bad, it's simple but greatly done, amazing characters and interesting storylines. For me, pleasant show with heartwarming interactions. But this adaptation has nothing to do with the original story. It's just so different and the whole vibe is off and it's just doesn't fit. I love My Love Mix-Up! but it's not the same story as Kieta Hatsukoi, never will be.

I'll continue with my watching, have a great day!
- zero

The cutest and funniest series I ever watch

This series is better than my expectation. Every EP is fun to watch. Atom is so adorable and Khongthap is so cool. Even both characters are so different but they complete each other so well. Gemini and Fourth acted so well. ☺️ love their chemistry🥰
Really recommended to watch.👍
I saw some people trying to compare the Thai version with Japanese version. I watched both. And i love both. I hope some people should stop comparing and treat them as separate things. Both have their own charms. ✌️

Reasons Why You Must Give This A Chance !!!

Keita Hatsukoi is very famous and expections were high for the Thai version which the casts absolutely kept it. I know original is always best but this is NOT A COPY PASTE OF THE ORIGINAL. The show is adapted from the full volume of the manga so plot is same but also not same. Everyone has this predefined thought process that adaptations are always bad but this isn't always true. If u aren't even able to separate two things and appreciate it's individuality then that's a You problem.

The casting here is perfect, changes to the storyline to fit the Thai culture very well done, acting is on point, the osts are all amazing & the chemistry between Kongthap and Atom top tier afterall it's Gemini Fourth we are talking abt. Just them staring at eo is enough to feel all this butterflies in the stomach

Coming to the acting I must say all of them are really good. We know Gemini Fourth acting is great and they have greatly improved from when they did MSP especially Gemini his expressions and delivery of the words, his body language everything shouts Kongthap like it's straight out the manga but in a more humane way and not too stoic which i thought was well done. This small differences and changes makes the character more like a real person fitting the real life.

Fourth playing Atom is perfect since there is no one better fit for this role than him. Being a calm, shy person in real life and playing a over expressing and over-reacting character itself is challenging. Being able to do justice to the character requires a lot of mental strength and overcoming ur own drawbacks to be able to express yourself like the character so that it is not cringe but also not dull. He has so far done a really good job and I know further eps it's just gonna get better. For me personally I really liked how Fourth has such a good grasp of his character and can express the feeling in the scene with just sight movements like u don't need words to be said to understand what the character is feeling in that moment & I think this is how an actor should be. Perfect

Half and Mudmee is played by Chokun & Pahn. They are newbies in the series but don't seem like one. They played their roles so naturally it didn't feel like a first timer for sure 🤣 I was expecting them to be good but fitting so well with the show and not being out of place even once makes me feel happy. I really liked Mudmee she is so cute.
We also have Khaopan played by AungPao, though there haven't been many scenes with him yet but looking at ep 4 his comical timing was good and the contrasting personalities with Kongthap his bff were nice to see.

There are 6 ost's in the series and of course they are all amazing. Gemini Fourth are really so talented makes me amazed everytime. When I saw "It's You" for the first time I was filled with an unexplainable feels and tears in my eyes. Them singing and harmonizing together it's like heaven to the ears. People may think that the Cinderella from the theatre play and the addition of new character takes away the essence of it but THATS NOT TRUE. This new version feels much more better bcz u are watching a freaking BL and a boy playing that role where he isn't cosplaying as another but being his own true self & falling in love this is itself a very good way to create awareness & normalising love is love that can happen anywhere with anyone. Please be open minded it's 2024 now !!!!!!!!!! The ep 2 was the best ep for me.

Lastly I want to address one thing new people who come to watch the show and read reviews might find some hateful comments and go back but I want to tell u give the series a chance please don't judge based on others point of view. Everyone can be their own judge. If u don't like it u can ignore it there is no need to spread hate because there are many people looking forward to the show. The people complaining abt age related issues let me remind u Gemini Fourth are 19 year olds when this series was filmed and they are playing the role of a 17-18 year old which is perfect age for a high school series. U can't be expecting more younger people to act in a series with 18+ scenes which is illegal. If u are okay with the jpn live action actors being older what's the issue here ???? One should'nt disregard peoples work just because ur feelings don't align. Everyone worked really hard for this and spreading misinformation and hate is not a right human behaviour. Not every series will be the same and moreover where is the fun in that ??? Unique approaches makes things intriguing.

I gave it 9.5 cz it's not completed yet.
Anyway #MyLoveMixUpTH is ongoing now and i would 100% recommend it ☺️
