It’s a second chance plot with amazing actors. the chemistry appears in the first episode nd uauuuu! I don't understand people giving low ratings to the first few episodes; I felt that wasn't fair, so I wanted to give it a positive review. I'm really enjoying it, and I think if you like "second chance" stories and romances with chemistry, you should definitely watch it. Love, Desire, and the Missing Key

The drama begins with Shang Zhitao's point of view with the quote above, and then it flashes back to the beginning when she met Luan Nian. I have to admit, I am completely captivated by Luan Nian. He is everything. He is seductive...extremely seductive🔥 I don't usually write reviews before I have watched the drama in its entirety, but I must put my thoughts into this partial review for now because under the influence of Luan Nian, I might forget some key points💓 You will know when you watch. This review is ongoing.



The title, THE EARLY SPRING, brings to mind thawing ice and tulips growing from bulbs that have been dormant during the cold winter months. Think of the male lead, Luan Nian, as the thawing ice and the female lead, Shang Zhitao, as a blooming tulip fresh out of college. Even her English name, Flora, correlates with the theme.It takes time and endurance for love and ambition to reach their full bloom. The early Spring is a time of new beginnings and growth. It is also a time of rebirth and relates to the second chance at love for the leads after a time of separation. Just like the tulips remain dormant only to bloom again in the early Spring, Luan Nian and Shang Zhitao will have their second chance.


Main Characters

🔥🧊🔥 Luan Nian is a highly successful and brilliant marketing director genius with confidence in his own ability to control and manage those around him, as well as his self-control. He thinks through problems logically and strategically. His character is complex. His actions show he has an emotional attachment to Tao, but he will not admit it to himself. He represents the illusion of emotional control. His logical mind didn't account for the missing key and the concept that love has no rules. But I love his character. He is my favorite in this drama. I don't see anything toxic about him. In fact, he shows his affection for Zhitao more easily than she does. He is tough on the outside, appearing detached and stoic, but at times, so tender and caring to Zhitao.


NOTE: Even though his character is sophisticated and controlled, it is Luan Nian who makes me laugh out loud at his unexpected and spontaneous actions. His mouth is brutally blunt. He is shocking! He is bold! He is daring! He is petty 😂 And he is addictive!

🌷🍑🌷Shang Zhitao is the female lead who first appeared as a fresh graduate with average academic standards. Luan Nian rejects her as an employee, but due to circumstances, she is nevertheless hired by the company. On her first day at the prestigious firm, her boss, Luan Nian, bluntly tells her she is not suitable and will not survive the field. Instead of backing down, she works hard with determination to achieve her goals. Shang Zhitao represents women striving for independence and career goals. She is cautious not to jeopardize her career for her relationship with Luan Nian. However, she does not share her problems with Luan Nian and tries to work things out herself. He helps her when he does find out, but it also bothers him that she doesn't call him for help.



🌷The Metaphor of the Antique Typewriter🌷

The minute I saw Luan Nian meticulously dusting off his antique typewriter. I knew it was special. Not just to him, but to the theme of this drama. My parents had one of these, and I know the keys of the manual or antique typewriters work differently than the keyboards we use today. The keys need to be pressed with some control. If you press too hard, they stick or will not bounce back smoothly. If you don't press enough, nothing will print. The typewriter represents Luan Nian and his control. He operates his business deals with the same mechanical precision, and he believes in managing with a system of rules. It also mirrors the way he approaches Zhi Tao. He knows not to pressure her too much, and he knows when to back off when she resists him.

In episode 1, Tao accidentally knocks the typewriter off the pedestal at the end of Luan Nian's desk, and it shatters on the ground. It was shocking! The pieces went everywhere. On the pedestal, it represented his controlled world, but shattered on the floor, it became a visual symbol that he does not have the control he thinks he has. He reassembles the typewriter, minus the broken L key, and puts it back on the edge of his desk, where it sits precariously, waiting to be knocked off again 😱 Zhi Tao notices the L key is missing and finds a replacement key for him. The key is not a perfect fit, and he types. "You don't have to be perfect to be worthy love." I think it's the fact that she helped him that made him accept the key as is. The question is, what does the L represent? It could be "love" as it is missing from their relationship, and it could also be for "Luan" once he accepts that love is a necessary part of a relationship.

In a nutshell, the antique typewriter represents Luan Nian's controlled, ordered life . He prides himself on his control. But his well-ordered life sits precariously on a pedestal just like his typewriter.


💗The Relationship 💗 "Can You Control Your Feelings of Love?"💗

The attraction is undeniable. Luan Nian wants a relationship with Zhi Tao, but he doesn't want romance. She wants to be with him. She doesn't want her career affected, as he is her boss. It is important to her to succeed without the stigma of taking shortcuts. But she is also unsure of being in a relationship with him. She resists. He pursues.

He challenges her with the question, "Can you control your feelings of Love?" At first, I thought there was an error and the meaning was lost in translation because why would a man who doesn't want emotional ties use the word love? The translation to the Mandarin word, xi huan, is like. Perhaps he really means "like" in the romance sense, and maybe that is why it was translated as "love." He feels he has control over his emotions. But he knows she has feelings for him. She tells him she can control her feelings. The irony of it all is that Luan Nian already has feelings for Zhitao. It becomes obvious quite early in the drama even if he doesn't say it.


After that one-night "accident," as Tao calls it, she requests a transfer to distance herself from Luan Nian. He, in his own way, pursues her. She resists. But he convinces her to try a secret relationship that will not affect her job. He makes it clear he doesn't have time for romance, and if either wanted to be with someone else, they would end it. Tao agrees to a relationship of exclusivity. Can we say "friends with benefits?"


As of episode 10, it seems Luan Nian has already fallen. He doesn't realize it because he is still under the illusion of control. It is evident in his actions: the way he reaches for her hand as they walk, the way he looks for her, the way he moves anything that obstructs his view of her desk from his office, and the way he refuses to move into his new office with his promotion. After all, if he moved, how would he see Shang Zhi Tao from his office?

Sinfully addictive

I’m enjoying this so much I feel like it’s a sin. It’s so addictive I don’t want to do anything else. I went in really not wanting to expect a lot because sometimes you can get burned right away even from first episode. Twelve in and it’s pretty solid. While it’s not just romance, it’s so sugary and honey dripping of a love story for the ages. Gosh stamp the two leads with chemistry award for life.

Good writing to start. It’s simple, nothing so outrageous of office/business dynamics. In fact, what’s so noticeably appreciated by me is the camaraderie of the office staff. Boss may be strict but he’s approachable by his staff, warm fun relations with his top managers. Schemings takes a back burner, and families often disrupting is not a thing (yet?} I think that’s another thing I like in this drama. Focus is the budding character arc, and their eventual growth towards each other.

Good writing needs great acting for execution. Awesome choices. They exude that saying OPPOSITES ATTRACT to a tee. That’s what’s so cute. The acting. Bo Ran somehow knows exactly how to rattle her, his burning looks, slight smiles. Qian knows exactly how to control her emotions, shy, innocent and adorably cute that obviously drives him crazy. The undeniably attraction, that pent up chemistry, to his burning need to see her, is making world viewers crazy. It’s a romance for the ages, exactly written and executed so well, rightly buzzing the world.

LUKE AND FLORA.....

We were waiting, and they did not disappoint us at all!! OMG, i am obsessed with this drama, especially our Luke and Flora...The chemistry these two have has me on a chokehold, i was literally catching my breath with every single closeness they have.....i was just smiling and screaming like a fool

The club scene in ep 4 where his friends asked him to sing, and he said no, but catches her on the other side, with the extreme eye contact locked in on her, OMG, it's giving that one Ed Sheeran song, ''When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful''....., but this one is 'When I see you across the club, smiling so beautifully''...type SHIT

ALso, when she was lost, and he came looking for her, but he crashed, and she came to save him, and then to get out of there, he had to tie ropes around both of them, the tension between them there was soooo SPICY...

The biggest obstacle with everything with Luke is his DAMN MOUTH, bro just cannot say nice words...wdym flora asked what flower suit her, and this mf said ''Green foxtail''( wtf is a green foxtail, went to research it and it was a grass..not just any grass, PLAIN GRASS), like are you high bro?....another time is in ep 13 when he thought Flora was gonna leave with Alex, and then sent a text message calling her ''cheap and obedient'', and then started saying to her face that she has no brain, she is doctile...bro, I almost wet myself...can't he just say nice things for crying out loud...why can't he just say please don't go, i don't want you to......and continue and explain nicely....good that Flora block his ass cause I generally couldn't...

I CAN'T WAIT FOR BREAKUP ARC...i want LUKE TO BEG AND BEG...

The biggest obstacle for these two is their communication issues, they communicate well physically, but emotionally they are down the bridge....

I loved hove the chemistry between the ML and FL flows. even through their gazes you can see the electricity that attracts them. And i like it that it is not a slow burn romance. The storyline is appealing, show the strength of the young FL, the arrogance of the boss that falls for her. the fashion style of the ML is edgy and modern , though I do not quite like the style of the FL - but I suppose as she has just graduated, here costume befits her. This drama has me looking for Jing Boran's older dramas (Regeneration - this is so goood - why did this one escaped my attention in the past). Am looking forward to watching Road Home and Sunset Secret Regret. Really, the ML is sooooo good looking here

THIS CDRAMA IS EXTREMELY OBSESSIVE ❤️‍

I can say It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this urge to keep watching and become so obsessed with a C-drama.🥰

I love the chemistry between the leads; both the romantic scenes and the moments of tension are incredible. Without a doubt, this show has really hooked a lot of people.🫶

And as for Luke (Jing Boran), what can I say? The man is perfect: sexy, handsome, attractive, commanding, and seductive. He’s everything a woman could want in a man. Even though he’s a bit cold, I think that’s exactly what drives us all crazy and makes us swoon. ❤️‍🔥🫦🔥

I literally can't sleep because I keep thinking about the scenes and episodes I've watched; I find myself smiling to myself when I remember them, feeling as though I’m living the story right along with them. 🤭

The OST is absolutely beautiful, the songs are constantly playing in my head, and listening to them feels like reliving every moment between the main characters. 💖👌

I just hope they don't let us down and give us a beautiful ending for Luke & Flora. 😍❤️

Two Imperfect People, One Realistic Love Story

The more I watch this drama, the more I feel like I understand what it’s trying to say about relationships.

For me, a healthy relationship isn’t about finding a “green flag” and avoiding every “red flag.” Real people aren’t that simple. When you start a relationship, you shouldn’t only focus on the qualities you love in your partner. You also need to pay attention to their flaws and ask yourself: Can I accept this? Can they work on it? Is it something that can actually change, or is it simply part of who they are?

Because if you understand these things from the beginning, you don’t have to spend four, five or six years with someone just to discover that you can’t build a life together.

Some flaws are part of someone’s personality, while others come from their family, childhood, the way they were raised, or experiences they had throughout life. Those things can sometimes be changed, but only if the person is willing to work on themselves.

That’s why I find Luke and Flora so realistic. They don’t feel like the perfect ML and FL we often see in dramas. They feel like real people. Honestly, we probably meet more people like Luke and Flora in real life than those perfect “green flags.”

For me, Luke’s biggest problem is communication, especially the hurtful way he speaks when he’s angry. His family background and his relationship with his father clearly influenced the way he deals with emotions. But I also think this is something he can work on because he actually listens. If Flora had been more emotionally mature and better at communicating, she might have helped him understand this much earlier.

Flora’s problem, however, feels deeper. She’s talented, ambitious, hardworking and has achieved a lot, but she still doesn’t truly believe in herself. She constantly feels inferior, especially when she compares herself to Luke.

And that’s something nobody else can fix for her. People can love her, support her and reassure her, but she has to build her own confidence. Otherwise, that insecurity will keep affecting her personal life and her relationships.

So I think the drama is teaching us that a successful relationship needs more than love.

You need communication. You need to understand your partner’s flaws and decide whether you can genuinely accept them. And you need to learn how to separate your past from the life you want to build.

Your family and your past can explain why you became the person you are, but they shouldn’t decide who you will become.

That’s what makes this drama feel so real to me. It’s not about two perfect people finding each other. It’s about two imperfect people who love each other, but still have things within themselves that they need to work on.

Give me all the 50 Shades of Luke!!

I have to admit, I’m rather surprised to see this drama receiving some lower ratings so early on, particularly when it has already demonstrated just how much traction it is gaining — especially here in the West and across social media. Sometimes a drama needs a little time to reveal what it is doing, and this one already has me thoroughly invested.

I was unfamiliar with the ML , JJing Bo Ran, before watching this, but consider me impressed. Give me all the Fifty Shades of Luke. He has an undeniable screen presence, and beyond being exceptionally handsome, he brings a confidence and intensity to the role that makes him incredibly watchable. There is something quietly magnetic about him, and I would genuinely love to see him cross over into more internationally distributed dramas. Bo Ran has the kind of presence that could translate very well to Western audiences.

The FL is equally charming. She has that lovely balance of innocence and understated sensuality, which works particularly well against his more intense presence. Most importantly, the chemistry between them feels natural rather than manufactured. They are a very convincing pairing, and their scenes together are easily among the strongest elements of the drama.

As for the story, I’m enjoying it so far. It certainly carries Fifty Shades of Grey undertones — but rather than feeling like a direct imitation, it comes across as a more toned-down, television-friendly interpretation of that particular dynamic. And, frankly, it is proving to be just as addictive. There is something about the combination of tension, attraction and emotional restraint that keeps you pressing “next episode.”

I do have one small criticism: the soundtrack. There is one particular song that keeps appearing which, unless I’m completely missing something, sounds like English lyrics that don't quite make sense.😅 Every time it comes on, it pulls me out of the scene slightly. 😅 There is another track associated with a very popular actor — whose name has completely escaped me at the moment — and that one, thankfully, is much more enjoyable.

What I’m particularly looking forward to now are the more emotionally charged episodes. The foundation has been laid, the chemistry is there, and I’m curious to see whether the drama can move beyond the initial attraction and give these characters some genuine emotional depth.

For now, though? It has me glued to my screen.
It may not be perfect, but it is extremely watchable — and judging by the conversation surrounding it online, I certainly won't be the only one saying that.

The Early Spring

this drama is so captivating, well acted, well written , well directed and the acting is exceptional enough to have me start reading the book. It has a mature story line and is definitely not slow burn drama. I enjoy watching dramas that are centered in the work place and this one outdoes itself in keeping it fresh and new.
I have watched the episodes a few times each already and plan to watch the whole series again once is completed.
This is for amore mature audience and it fulfills my long last with that a work place romantic drama swoons my senses and emotions.
This cold hearted man already knows this time is different.
Excellent !! One of the best thus far after over 9 years of watching C dramas!!
