A Beautiful Study of Love, Growth and Imperfection

The Early Spring… wow. Just wow.

I started the first episode on a whim, and that has turned out to be a mistake because now I absolutely cannot get enough of Nian and Zhitao. 😂

What I particularly love is how consistently Nian makes the effort to become a better person within the relationship for Zhitao. He isn’t perfect, and the drama doesn’t try to paint him that way. It reminds me of what I always say: people are not black and white. Even good people can do bad things, and being flawed doesn’t necessarily make someone a bad person.

I also really appreciate that Zhitao values herself enough to walk away when she feels she has reached her limit. She knows what she can and cannot accept, and she doesn't lose herself trying to make the relationship work. I LOVE that for her.

This drama has also driven home something that I think a lot of relationships could benefit from: clear communication. So many misunderstandings could be avoided if people simply said what they actually felt, listened to each other, and communicated their expectations clearly.

Honestly, The Early Spring is one of the dark horses of 2026 for me. I started it casually and somehow ended up emotionally invested in these two people.

I cannot wait for the remaining episodes. Nian and Zhitao, please, I need to know how this ends! 😂❤️

The C-Drama version of Fifty Shades of Grey

I like how the story has been adapted so far to fit the cultural nuances of a C-drama. It retains some of the basic flavour of the original premise while reshaping it enough to feel at home in its new setting.

The acting is good, but the standout for me is the Music. The OST does a lot of the heavy lifting in creating the romantic tension and atmosphere.

Everything else? Same old, same old.

A fresh graduate falls for her cold, seemingly unyielding highly efficient boss, who is secretly head over heels in love with her but is far too emotionally guarded to express it. Throw in a couple of love triangles to stretch the story across more episodes, and you pretty much know what you're getting.

There isn't much here that feels particularly fresh or surprising, but it's not a bad watch either.

If you have time to spare and enjoy this particular brand of emotionally unavailable boss romance genre, this does the job.

I am hooked!!! Once you start you won’t be able to stop!!!!

The ML and FL are new to me but their chemistry is really good! Story is easy to follow and characters very believable. The ML is super dreamy and extremely conflicted from the get go . - If only I had such a mentor when I just started work 😛. The FL is honest in her depiction as a newbie at work and romance.

Started watching after rave reviews on TikTok and it is definitely worth watching. I’m now worried I’ll be running out of episodes very soon as once you start you can’t stop.

Liu Yu Ning’s opening tracks is soooo good!

Production value is good and supporting cast are great as well.

Hoping for a good ending 🙏

✨A Cautionary Tale With Excellent Wardrobe Choices✨

Okay, let me just start by saying: this drama is ridiculously easy to get lost in. 😂

The atmosphere is sultry, seductive and just... delicious. I LOVE the colour palette, the styling, the whole visual language of it. And apparently Jing Boran contributed over 100 pieces from his own wardrobe for Luke, which honestly explains why this man has been walking around looking like he personally invented tailored clothing. 😭🔥

And then there is the chemistry.

THE CHEMISTRY. 🔥 The tension, the skinship, the make-out sessions... you can absolutely tell they hired an intimacy coach, and whoever made that decision deserves a raise. 😂 These two have chemistry that could power a small city.

But beyond the pretty visuals and the 🔥, what really keeps me invested is how messy and believable their dynamic can feel.

This is obviously fiction, and we know we're watching a romance that is supposed to take us somewhere happy. But the issues these two have aren't completely removed from reality. They're two flawed adults with insecurities, poor communication, baggage and very different ways of dealing with their feelings. And sometimes, in real life, relationships like this don't get the pretty ending. People don't necessarily wake up one morning and stop being assholes because they fell in love.

That's something I appreciate about the drama.

Neither of them is perfect. The FL makes assumptions, gives mixed signals, pushes him away and has her own insecurities. The ML can be emotionally unavailable, arrogant and downright hurtful at times. I don't need either character to be flawless, but I do need their growth to actually mean something.

The casting is also PERFECTION.

I genuinely cannot imagine anyone else as these two. I absolutely adore Sun Qian as the FL and relate to so many of her dilemmas that I've basically adopted her at this point. 😂 Which is probably why I regularly want to grab Luke by the shoulders and ask him what the hell he is doing.

And Jing Boran...

Sir.

There is something ridiculously magnetic about this man. That effortless masculine charm and screen presence have me swooning one minute, wanting to punch him the next, and then he pulls out those stupid puppy eyes and I'm suddenly like, okay... fine. You're forgiven. 😭💀

The story itself isn't exactly reinventing the wheel, but honestly, I don't care. I'm here for the adult vibes, the flawed romance, the tension, the atmosphere, the music, the styling and these two beautiful idiots trying to figure themselves out.

And yes, I am very much obsessed with Jing Boran, so the thirsty comments and edits? I understand them on a spiritual level. 😂

💫One small cautionary note, though.

Watching this drama—and especially reading everyone's interpretations of Luke—has made me think about how much presentation influences the way we perceive behaviour. When you combine great chemistry, gorgeous cinematography, emotional music, a charismatic performance and a ridiculously attractive actor, it's very easy to experience certain behaviours as more romantic or forgivable than you might in another context.

And I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. That's part of the magic of fiction. We can enjoy complicated characters, messy relationships and dynamics we'd probably tell our best friend to run from in real life. 😂

I just think it's worth keeping a little awareness of the distinction between understanding a character and excusing them, and between enjoying what a story is portraying and deciding that the behaviour itself is healthy.

Because listen... I am not dead. Jing Boran is ridiculously attractive and I am absolutely participating in the swooning. 😭 But my critical thinking is still employed. Barely, but she's on the payroll. 💀

Overall: beautiful, sexy, messy and extremely entertaining. I'm seated. I'm only at episode 14 of 24, so these are very much mid-watch impressions rather than a final verdict. There's still plenty of story left to unfold, and I'm happy to let it surprise me. ❤️

Good Start..

This Review will be updated once the story progresses,
Started with Good Hope and it fulfilled my expectation...Strict ML and Steady/ Ambitious FL make a good pair.

ML and FL are gorgeous... ML has such a magnetic Aura and carries his role perfectly... Truly exceptionally handsome...
FL looks pretty and sometimes very naive.. She has the audacity to question the lead in the first meet, asking her lady lead to be the assistant of PM in the first meet but portray very childish behaviour sometimes..
C dramas have to bring the balance here... They need to come out of this' childish and cringy or extreme innocent ' FLs in this 2026 era at least depending on the stories and characters...This is a generic comment..

The scenes are good and honest. They were attracted and had some intimate moments. They want to keep it separated because it will affect their professional Life... Very fair and Good..A mature thought...

A small observation, But In Episode 6, when FL moved to other team, She has been assigned to get the previous team source files , I am really disappointed how it progressed.. ML has initially rejected the ask. Then she went to his home? ML handed it over her just because of their connection . When the Male colleague asked for it ,his teammate said No... Just imagine if there is another lady who has been assigned this task, She would have been said no , but the FL would have done just because she slept with him ? Where is the professional ethics here? How are they promoting this? This is the reason no one is glorifying office romance...It really questioned both of their images , upright nature which i had initially...

Music , Dialogues, Aesthetic backgrounds and scenes are the strengths here..You will have butterflies in few scenes Lets see how it progresses.. Guys Do Watch. without fail..You will be hooked esp by the ML and the chemistry !!!

Slow Burn Pace but Beautiful Character Growth

This drama isn't mainly about romance, but it does focus on romance after all. Leave it if you're not into it.

I really admire Shang Zhi Tao's growth in both her feelings and her work life. This story has two POVs, one from the FL and another from the ML. From the FL's perspective, every action she takes is understandable. She starts as a fresh graduate at a very well-known company, comes from the Northeast to a huge city, and even becomes part of the HR recruitment process for establishing new criteria for employees. Logically, her criteria don't even match the standard, which makes things more challenging for her. She does need time to grow. Honestly, even though it's a bit slow, I do enjoy it because I'm willing to wait for the main plot, her transformation, and her character development.

Meanwhile, Luan Nian plays a constant push-and-pull game when expressing his feelings. He tends to think that emotions are not something worth focusing on and believes that maintaining his work is all he needs. Since he has already received everything he needs, he thinks he can continue holding on to the other things he wants while dealing with them through his miserable attitude. He is surrounded by a city and an urban circle where warmth, honesty, and trustworthiness are far from reality. Everyone is looking for advantages and competence, even in love, people use relationships to compete over material things. His sharp tongue is his way of pushing away disloyal people, and he has become accustomed to it. This way of dealing with people is also what allows him to remain in Lingmei. Even when he starts to fly higher than the place where he usually stands, he forgets that he does not have wings of his own. What he fails to realize is that he has been lifted up and embraced by SZT's admiration, respect, and love for him.

I think the love from Shang Zhi Tao will make Luan Nian soften emotionally, learn to appreciate moments and the little things in life, while the dim love from Luan Nian lets Shang Zhi Tao learn to value herself for how she can be worth even without Luan Nian by her side (Shang Zhi Tao, Im supporting you from your backk)

I can see this story as a journey of emotions that makes their lives worth living, with the workplace and Beijing serving as the main backdrop for their growth.

ps: Also, at first I didn't have much impression of the supporting roles, but they're surprisingly good! Each of them is diverse and a great support for the female lead's growth, which makes it hard for me to think about dropping this drama ;D

50 shades of Luan Nian... or not?

This is my first impression of the drama and i will write a complete review later.

So, the Synopsis and the the trailers give off the dominant ML, nice FL sort of vibes, but is it really?

The story is quite fast. From the first episode everything is on-point and leads are developing in each episode. This is about a workplace romance, but not your typical story, as the leads have a somewhat peculiar dynamic.

The drama is well-done imo. The production, lightning, the script, the OST, even the opening credits.

what caught my attention more than typical estethics is the lead's development and their relationship. It is evolving in each episode. The leads are evolving and changing. it's interesting to see this how they fall in love actually.

AND, the most important aspect so far; the chemistry, intimacy, and kiss scenes. My god. this drama is among the very few i have seen in my life that shows intimacy like this. the leads are sooooo good together. Literally, this is top-notich.

so for now, if you're reading this and crave a romantic drama with lots of hugs, kisses, holding hands, and intimacy, be sure to watch this!

A Grounded Workplace Masterpiece Destined for Legendary Status

This drama is a refreshing, grounded masterpiece that masterfully trades instant romance for earned workplace survival and healing. The forced professional dynamic between rookie Shang Zhitao and her demanding boss Luan Nian builds deep respect and electric chemistry entirely out of necessity. Watching Shang Zhitao transform from a vulnerable graduate into a highly adaptive, independent professional is incredibly satisfying, especially alongside a refreshingly flawed, realistic male lead. The plot moves dynamically into a multi-year journey of secret romance and profound emotional recovery. Though I am still in the middle of watching it, I have a strong feeling this will easily be a top ten drama of the year, with the clear potential to join the ranks of legendary modern melodramas.

Too Dangerous to Love, Too Addictive to Resist”

The Early Spring — When Desire Is More Dangerous Than Love 🖤🔥

The Early Spring is not the kind of romance that gives you butterflies and lets you sleep peacefully afterward. It gives you tension. Temptation. Stolen glances. Long silences. And that delicious feeling that two people are standing far too close to a line they absolutely should not cross. ❤️‍🔥

Luan Nian (Jing Boran) is exactly the kind of man a sensible woman should probably stay away from—brilliant, intimidating, emotionally guarded, and almost impossible to read.

And unfortunately… ridiculously attractive. 😏

He doesn’t need grand romantic speeches. Sometimes all Jing Boran has to do is look at Shang Zhitao for one second too long, lower his voice, or let that perfectly controlled expression crack just a little—and suddenly the entire scene feels intimate.

That restraint is what makes him so dangerously seductive.

Then there is Shang Zhitao (Sun Qian). She may enter his world as an inexperienced newcomer, but she is never simply a helpless girl waiting for a powerful man to rescue her. She has ambition, pride, stubbornness, and desires of her own—and watching her slowly learn how to stand her ground against him makes their attraction even more irresistible.

Because this isn’t love at first sight.

It’s desire at first resistance. 🔥

Boss and employee.
Distance and attraction.
Control and surrender.
Two people pretending to be perfectly professional while their eyes are having an entirely different conversation.

And THAT chemistry… 🥀

Jing Boran and Sun Qian understand that sometimes the sexiest thing on screen isn’t a kiss.

It’s the moment before it.

The hesitation.
The eye contact.
The tiny change in breathing.
The question neither of them is brave enough to ask.

Are we really going to do this?

And you already know the answer. 😏❤️‍🔥

What makes The Early Spring so addictive is that underneath all that temptation is something much messier. These are flawed adults mixing ambition, loneliness, power, vulnerability, and desire—and convincing themselves they can keep emotions under control.

Spoiler: feelings rarely respect contracts. 🖤

Is Luan Nian a walking red flag sometimes? 🚩
Absolutely.

Would I recommend dating him in real life?

Probably not.

Would I watch Jing Boran play this emotionally unavailable, dangerously charming man for another twenty episodes?

Without hesitation. 😂🔥

The Early Spring is sophisticated, messy, mature, frustrating, and incredibly seductive—not because it shows too much, but because it knows exactly how much to hold back.

Sometimes the most irresistible romance isn't the one that feels safe.

It's the one that whispers:

“You know this is a bad idea… so why can’t you look away?” 🖤🔥🥀

the plot is good

the actors are good I have watched abt 4 episodes which was released today and I like it .
sun qian has done pretty good acting in the first 4 episodes which I have seen yet so dont know abt the future episodes.
but what I can say is that this series is abt reunion, second chance at love . they drift apart due to a misunderstanding and meet again. I also like the acting of male lead. for the male lead this is not the first reunion, second chance at love trope series he has already acted one called road home with tan songyun which was very nice so whoever wants recommendation for second chance at love, road home is one for you.
the first 4 episodes kept me hooked ngl. I liked how he was being strict and still helping her ,uk the mentor vibes which was pretty nice. so I like till now lets see what happens ahead

I am in love!

8 episodes in and I am obsessed with this drama already. The story is pretty simple but the chemistry of both leads is through the roof! I know some people have compared this to 50 Shades of Grey and I get it. But there is so much more to this than that.

Luke and Flora are so good together! It is just so electric whenever it is a scene with them together. I know the story is just beginning and that is what makes it so exciting. I am completely into their relationship and story. I would definitely keep watching!!!
