Your Dear Tea Farm that went off the tracks episode 5 (watch suggestions)
Overall: from the trailer I thought this would be spicy, from episodes 1-4 I thought this was a slice of life but then in episodes 5 and 6 it became a soap opera. Based on a book which I haven't read and I reviewed the series on its own merits. 8 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/your-dear-daddy-episode-1-v94mtn7i5g?lang=en_usContent Warning: non con picture taking/sharing, past (intimate partner abuse, suicide), mental health struggles, attempted murder, blood, beaten up, manipulation, emotional abuse
Watch Suggestions (to focus more on the m/m couple and less on tea farm life, also takes out several content warnings)
- watch episode 1
- episode 2 skip 20:20-24, skip 40:10-46
- episode 3 watch 18:15 to 20:40 and 40:15-45
- episode 4 watch beginning-1:25, 11:30-17:50, 22-35, 37:15-45
- skip episodes 5 and 6
- episode 7 watch 8-28 and 37:45-end
- episode 8 watch 8:10-11:45 and 32:10-end
What I Liked
- Saitharn knew what he liked in the first episode (though with information we learned later, I wonder if it was more of a trauma response thing...)
- easy to understand premise
- get to see Fluke & Gap again!
Room For Improvement
- comedy sound effects did not make things funny
- this was sold as a romance but the leads didn't talk until 18 minutes in of episode 3 and only had a few minutes together for the entire episode, suddenly it veered into lakorn territory in episode 5
- there was zero steamy time in the finale?!!! wtf?! the cutie young guys had barely any screen time and a whole bunch of trauma just magically healed?

The show with the worst title was not the worst show...
The April/May 2026 Thai BL slump hopefully ended and this show was just one of them. The title is so stupid, that I asked myself if I should not skip this entirely. Too my surprise it was better as expected. That doesn't say much nowadays, because as usual, the story is weak. The BL part is solid, put the GL part took aaaaaaaaaaa lot of screentime, while the second not-to-be-couple had no resolution at all even when we all know they belong together. Of course we have the lacorn-style villain characters in form of an uncle and his stupid son and a surprise villain, I will not mention here :) And of course comedic bits which are not much fun.
The story is mostly the usual BS, but for a touristy series the production was quite high. Nice landscapes and of course always perfectly groomed actors/actresses regardless that they work at a farm... On the other hand we have some fluffy scenes, some serious scenes which improves the series a lot.
Overall an average show which could have been worse. Watch it, if you like or skip it entirely, you will not miss much anyways.

Started of good but ending felt incomplete
My initial impression was: The drama is an absolute gem. Probably one of my favorites among the ones currently airing. The plot although is a popular troupe is well written and executed. The NC is just right not too much to make it seem like porn. The acting is spot on. I absolutely love all 3 couples and the pacing is perfect. Given 8 episodes they've made sure they focus more on the main couple and give us just enough of the 2nd and 3rd couple. Another thing special about this drama is that it keeps u curious and wanting more like rn I am curious about saitharn's past and the white shirt guy, the beef between sila and mueng (it doesn't seem that simple), how the deal is gonna go etc and eventhough there are soo many points they need to cover the drama doesn't feel rushed nor am i scared they won't cover them well cz this is probably one of the best executed bl I've watched other than restart, top form and kinnporcheI absolutely love this drama. Although we might not see this pair again cz this drama is not a hit. I think i will be rewatching this drama. I really hate it when people just rate a drama low cz the pair is not a popular pair but then rate a below average drama high by spamming it with 10s just cz the pair is popular. Currently there are dramas that are from gmmtv and dmd that are not up to the par but are rated above 8 just cz the pair is popular but this one has pretty much got hate for being cringe when it is actually not.
I saw someone complaining about the gl pair getting more screentime. When they literally were introduced in that episode (ep 3) and barely had like 5 min screentime that episode🙄. That's how unreasonable the hate is towards this drama.
I absolutely love all the characters in this drama including our "villian" gap, our hottie fluke and cutie neau. I hope to see them together in more projects❤️
Edit: the drama was pretty good until the episode where we get saitarn's backstory where the entire episode just start feeling off after which the drama kinda felt average for me. Lot of things were left unaddressed at the end like
- Saitharn's family problems, the reason he ran away in ep 1
- The white shirt guy... who was apparently just a random guy idk felt off to me
- Closure to Sila and Meung's issue and even Meung and his family issues
- the 3rd couple.. they just left it has an open ending
So yeah I felt it was half done. It's okay... i feel they had time but kinda wasted it on the farm issues which was not the main thing for me... could have been better.

A Promising Romance Overshadowed by a Confusing Side Plot
I really enjoyed the story, particularly the dynamic between Sila and Saitharn. Their chemistry was a highlight, though the tension between them often felt surface-level. The series had real potential to dive deeper into Sila’s conflict with his business rival, and I would have loved to see Fluke and SaengNuea given stronger material to really shine in the future. The acting overall was solid, but the villain reveal in the finale felt jarring—it came out of nowhere with no foreshadowing, and the resolution was so rushed that it undermined the buildup. My biggest point of confusion, however, was the screentime distribution. The side couple—particularly the GL pair—seemed to get more focus than the main leads, yet their scenes didn’t advance the plot at all. I don’t mean to be harsh, but if you removed them entirely, the story’s progression wouldn’t change at all.

Support actors and Side story gets more screen time
If you came to watch the story between the main leads, just know they hardly get any screen time. This should be advertised as a GL drama with the side the BL.The story is fine - average. The acting is fine - average. The setting and the location are great. I love the scenes on the tea farm.
But again, the biggest let down is that we hardly get any screen time or real relationship development between the main leads. In episode six I think they genuinely only have 5-7 minutes of screen time for a 45 minute episode. And it's been like this is most of the episodes.

it's okay series
it's okay I like the storyline the actors are doing good it feel like the storyline is going to fast for me and the main chemistry is not really there it's like they're just walking through the episodes real fast. they need to see more chemistry with it too they're not giving that chemistry at all. the other characters are doing great in their roles on the series I'm still watching it for the other characters than the main characters. The main characters are not keeping the show going it's the other character that is in my opinionWas this review helpful to you?
Worth to watch!
Wow! I'm going to miss "Your Dear Daddy" so much 😭 This was the series that Fluke deserves and I hope he gets all the recognition he deserves. Who would have thought that traveling for a one night stand and sleeping with the wrong person, would lead Saitharn to the love of his live 🥺Also, beyond the companies dispute, this series was about found family and believe in yourself. The series main topic is that you're not define by the people whose blood is related to you. Muenphae had a horrible family that didn't acknowledge her value nor her talents. However, she found a family in Sila, who's the brother her real one can't be. Moreover, she and Saitharn learned to own their worth and not letting others dictate what they should or not be.
Sincerely, 10/10! My only complaint is that it had to end! I demand a special episode with Saitharn and Sila's married life 🫣

It was better than i expected but i wanted more
I started this show with no expectations and surprisingly i liked it more than i thought, saitharn character took different direction from what we used to have, he wzsnt the stubborn brat from city who refuse to settle down in countryside, instead he worked hard tired his best to learn and get close to everyone and he succeed to do that,he found family within farmer, i loved how relationship with sila, it started as one night stand than creditor-debtor to lovers, they didn't deny their feeling or fight it, just went with flow, another part i liked how they made us suspicious with 2 people when it come to betrayal.Phae having girlfriend was nice bcz her family is shitty but their story was bland
Now let me go with things that let me down, we didn't get much of sila and saitharn
, we deserved more of them,
saitharn trauma and backstory was brushed off quickly, and we didn't learn whats his full conflict with his mom from first place
The villain ending felt incomplete, after exposing them on party we didn't see them again, it felt there is no closure for that side of story in my head.
Anyway overall this was cute show with nice scenery

Not worth the hypeeee
Such a waste of time bruhhhhhhh... people were praising it like crazy and for whattt? Don't get me wrong it had a lot of potential with the plot but after revealing sth they just got over it... like what was with the flashbacks with Saitharn ex when it literally did nothing to the plot💀💀💀sure after he said to Sila omg no I'm so scared and then after 2 minutes they got together. There were so many plot holes that it started to piss me off I'm not going to lie. The lesbian couple literally had no fucking kiss, no confession scene no nothing, sure it was obvious they liked each other but there was almost nothing going on... idk it was really disappointing for how much it was hyped. Was this review helpful to you?

Your Dear Chemistry
So phrae never apologized to saithan.i felt really bad for her but then in ep 6 we learned what actually happened. she had audacity to blame everything on saithan and got off with no consequences. after that i lost all of my interest in her storyline.
sila also took advantage of the situation and made saithan to work for him to pay for all the damages. toxic much. if this was a toxic bl then it shouldn't have been a big deal but since sila is portrayed as a green flag, this annoyed me a lot.
the fight scene was really not needed. that achieved nothing. just two grown men acting like children.
anyways i did like silasaithan's chemistry. i wish we had more interactions between the main couple. it felt like they were the side couple and gl was the main couple. they got more screentime together than the main cp.
I absolutely love fluke and gap and because of that I wanted to watch this. but I ended up falling in love with SaengNuea too. he is so cute.
initially this series reminded me of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and A Thousand Stars but it's nowhere near that level.
I really felt bad for saithan. i can personally relate to his traumatic past. so I wish that they explored it more and focused on how sila helps saithan deal with it instead of just brushing it off.
name of the series is very unnecessary tbh and the daddy thing was very forced.
I felt like some of the scenes were very draggy and there were episodes where the main cp was barely present. I really need companies to focus on the main cp and their story arc instead of side couples.
3 couples in 8 episodes series is just too much.
anyways, I will look forward to more projects by Fluke and SaengNuea together because I loved their chemistry. And I really wanna see Gap in a leading role.

Disappointed
The show started off interesting but quickly became something else. This is a GL show in disguise as a BL. Almost all screen time was dedicated to the two female characters who didn't have an exciting story to begin with, just two kind of bland characters. The corporate espionage plot felt contrived and was just flat out boring most of the time. The only really exciting part was the main character's trauma from his previous relationship which unfortunately for the show, they wrapped up and resolved pretty quickly in just one episode.

Oh dear, what a mess
With too many characters, some of them annoying and poorly written (like Mueanphrae and Pawn/Paula), and far too many plot threads for 8 episodes, "Your Dear Daddy" does not deliver on most of what it promised or hinted at. The situation is not helped by questionable pacing and frequent tonal shifts. I started, continued and finished watching YDD for SaengNuea’s performance and his on-screen chemistry with Fluke, but there was not enough of that in the show to save it. Sidelining the main plot in favor of half a dozen side plots is rarely a good idea (remember "The Next Prince"?); it dooms a show when the main plot is the only good thing in it – which is what happened here.Somewhere around episode 3 or 4 I got convinced that YDD was initially written for at least 12 episodes and "adjusted" for its actual running time before production started. It is just a theory, but it does explain certain things about the show, like why the Gale-Mueanphrae storyline is so shallow or why the Mok-Saeng story goes nowhere. It also explains why the main story feels like there are several scenes (or even episodes) missing. What it does not explain are some of the choices what to include in the show – and here the list of things that should have been reduced or dropped entirely is long (starting with both aforementioned side plots).
What I liked:
- SaengNuea’s performance, which could not save the whole show, but did save Saitharn – a main character done dirty by poor writing,
- Sila’s and Saitharn’s relationship – even though it was underdeveloped and sidelined far too often (I did not mind the whole indentured servitude thing which got that relationship going – I assumed it was not to be treated seriously); one needs to appreciate that – unlike in most BLs – here both main characters are adults with a lot of backstory,
- Gap – he was doing his best and watching his performance became a guilty pleasure of mine; not a fan of his character though,
- setting almost the entire show in Chiang Rai, far from Bangkok, and filming a lot of it outdoors; that – as well as farming tea – brought back some fond ATOTS memories,
- fashion show in episode 8.
What I disliked:
- spending too much time on the mostly nonsensical business storyline and its numerous characters – Maenmueang would suffice as the show’s sole villain, Sila’s nemesis and (potentially) Saitharn’s hookup which got him to travel to Chiang Rai,
- how Saitharn’s traumatic past was handled and how it was introduced,
- leaving the Mok-Saeng storyline hanging – they should have either been developed into the secondary/supporting couple or their storyline should have been dropped and their parts reduced (maybe even letting go of one of them entirely – Saitharn did not need both Mok and Saeng to introduce him to farm work),
- Mueanphrae – an unlikeable, passive character we were meant to sympathize with (I did not and could not understand why Gale fell for her),
- show’s misleading title,
- more a nitpick than anything else, but the show’s main song included the line "my heart will always be yours forever", sung in English (the rest of the song is in Thai and seems okay) – and I found it awful.
I mentioned my theory of YDD getting less episodes than the script required to work. Once I got that theory, I remembered another Thai BL which was only 8 episodes long, had a relatively big cast and several side plots, but did not fall apart while I was watching it: "Moonlight Chicken". I guess that only shows that with smart, concise writing even 8 episodes can be enough to present a multi character story.
