I Loved It and Didn't See It Coming
A series I had no expectations for, but exceeded them in every way and might actually be my favourite GMMTV show of 2026. For starters, it's not a BL and doesn't fit into any specific category for that matter, but it does include queer elements and leaves some aspects to each viewer's interpretation. The story on its own is not groundbreaking, but it still succeeds due to how well put together and in harmony all its elements are. Despite being short, it delves deeply into its characters and their inner struggles, while tackling questions regarding life itself.Acting-wise, it was great. Sky and Nani, whether it was a dramatic scene or a more light-hearted one, they delivered their parts naturally, and their characters' bond was the heart and soul of the series. Being my first experience with both of them as a duo, I got really impressed by their acting skills, especially at the more emotionally and physically demanding scenes. Credit needs to be given, though, to the supporting cast as well, especially to Krist who gave an excellent and memorable performance, very different from the roles he is usually cast in.
Musically speaking, the osts were beautiful and fitting for each scene, but the original score composed specifically for this show is pure magic and a key element that defines its identity.
Overall, I do recommend this series to fans of the genre and anyone who is curious enough. The story might feature fantasy and action, but at its core it has a lot of heart that will make you care, connect and root for these characters. Admittedly, I feel a universe as vast and rich in lore as Wu's could support more episodes --even a second season-- to further explore certain parts or characters of the story, but even so, it already is a worthwhile journey, I would gladly take again.

The New Peak of GMMTV!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WU is hands down the best GMMTV series ever made. Every aspect of this show is exceptional. The acting is on another level, and Sky and Nani's chemistry is absolutely electric. The OSTs are incredible, the cinematography is stunning, and so many scenes will leave you with goosebumps. The cast is stacked with talented actors, and every one of them delivers. What I love most is the vibe—it reminds me of the best Chinese bromance dramas, the kind of stories I can never get enough of.
I already thought High School Frenemy was peak, but WU somehow managed to surpass it. This world has so much more to offer, and it deserves a Season 2. I genuinely don't want this story to end.

Who am I without WU?!?!
You say you don't watch anything without romance? I can promise you this is deeper, more heartfelt and far gayer than anything you've ever watched. The hill I'm willing to die on is that Sky and Nani have better chemistry than your fav bl actors. FIGHT ME.
If its gay af or the craziest friendship I PRAY, this kind of love finds me someday.
It's heartfelt, emotional, beautiful, has the perfect amount of realism that makes you feel seen/heard where it's not to heavy that it pulls you out of the story and makes sad or feel a negative way about anything in your own life. The lighthearted funny moments brings the show and story all together.
It's literally only 9 eps. You are only hurting yourself by not watching this masterpiece.
As a supernatural girl I was going to watch regardless but didn't have high expectations because other than Goddess Bless Your From Death (I have some beef with Khemjira) IMO there hasn't been any good supernaturals shows out lately. I love this spin of heaven, demons and evil. Nothing I've seen done well before.
WATCH IT OR CRY ABOUT IT, EITHER WAY SKYNANI GIRLIES WE WON!!!!!!!!

Some series entertain you for a while, but WU stays with you long after the final episode.
Everything about this drama felt incredibly well-made. The writing was engaging, the pacing was excellent, and every episode had a purpose. The cinematography was breathtaking, the visual effects were beautifully done, and the production quality was on another level. Every frame looked cinematic. The biggest strength of WU, however, is its cast. Nani and Sky gave career-defining performances. Their acting was powerful, sincere, and emotionally captivating. They didn’t just play their characters—they became them. Their chemistry was effortless and made every emotional scene unforgettable.
In my opinion, WU is GMMTV’s best production to date. It set a new standard for storytelling and production quality. This series deserves far more recognition because it is truly something special.
Without a doubt, this is a 10/10 masterpiece, and I hope many more people discover and appreciate it!!

I already gave it a 10 when i finsihed the first 4 eps and now that I have finished all of it, a "10" dosen't do it justice. It's a "♾️" typa show.Loved the plot and the pure love they had for eachother.
1. The CINEMATOGRAPHY? Absolutely FANTASTIC.
2. The ACTING? Great and LEGENDARY.
3. The PLOT? A complete MASTERPIECE.
The premise, the ending, the meaning behind the show, and the characters themselves everything was perfect.
I miss them♾️.

Having love hate relationship with this series
I was so excited to see GMMTV finally do an original fantasy series, but my expectations just kept going down. The plot feels rushed and doesn't explain the world or its premise clearly enough, so it was hard for me to get invested.I've never watched SkyNani's work before, and when people said they're a bromance cp, I was like, "Cool, maybe they won't do fan service." Oh boy, I was so wrong 😂 They do all the shits BL cps do except kiss or rail each other. I do think they have insane chemistry, but some of those scenes felt so questionable because it was like they were forcing viewers to ship them right from the start instead of letting it happen naturally.
The demons are also funny af because they look like mascots 😭 I couldn't help but lose immersion every time they showed up. It's such a pity they didn't have a bigger budget to make the fantasy setting more believable. And I HATE the product placement in completely unnecessary scenes. Singha was literally playing the drums in this intense moment, then suddenly she's drinking a freaking LACTASOY?? Like hello??
Acting wise, I really have to salute all the actors who don't speak Chinese but still managed to memorize all those lines, especially Sky and Krist. That must've taken so much effort. And Krist though... holy shit. His acting was spectacular. He completely embodied Li Pou, and you can tell this role really challenged him as an actor. I love seeing talent like him shine. He deserves an award for this role and I'm not even exaggerating.
The OST is SO GOOD, and the opening sequence is beautiful. If this series had a bigger budget and a tighter script, it could've easily been one of GMMTV's best action fantasy series. Such a pity.

Failed romance but excellent action drama
+ : beautiful set and cinematography, good post-production/CGI, fight scenes are impactful, love the main character.- : Sky’s acting is lackluster, fails to engage with important topics (class, wealth disparity, gambling addiction…), ”fanfic” feel like I'm supposed to know they're gonna end up together, colorism/random dread on the bad guy 💀
Stupid ending. Getting mogged by a 10-year-old actor is goofy.

this could have been amazing
The idea was promising. It had so much potential. Wu came with an interesting concept, a fantasy world, unique characters, and impressive production elements. The CGI, the atmosphere, and the variety of characters were all there. On paper, it had everything needed to become something special. But somehow, the execution stayed on the surface.Watching Wu felt like eating a pizza that looks absolutely mouth-watering—the presentation is beautiful, the toppings are exciting, and you can't wait for the first bite. But once you taste it, you realize it is missing something. Not bland, not bad, but lacking the seasoning that would make it unforgettable.
The fact that I finished the entire series says that Wu is still enjoyable to watch. It has enough charm, visuals, and interesting elements to keep me invested until the end.

Allora.
Was this review helpful to you?

BROMANCE? MORE LIKE BOYS-ROMANCE!!
SKYNANI did it again! With their INTENSE CHEMISTRY!!!Pete, a young unfortunate lad who has lost his career and fallen broken to life, carrying a fragment of a demon's soul, meets Niran, a mysterious shaman who can sense Yao.
Together, they venture to solve mysteries and try to capture Yao and face dark forces.
The plotline was slightly thrilling, hooking you to the essence of nature: heaven, earth, and humanity. It grounds you with its utmost moral of how life actually is and how humans could be. It teaches you that even if life is crazy—empathy, trust, patience, hope, and resilience could shape our future and us better.
KRIST did remarkably well in his evil role. I couldn't even guess it was him at the start. I loved his character regardless of anything. When he was killed by his own master, Qui Rong, whom he served with gratitude and pure worship, hoping he would take him only to face the reality of his lord's temper, I must say I was quite satisfied. It's the realness right there. No superior is capable of showing mercy, the show concluded.
Upon that, as Niran believed sealing Qui Rong was their only way, seeing him not fighting against but understanding what Qui Rong felt and respecting him was unpredictable.
"Be that heaven or demons, they're no different."
The quiet tranquility of this show is that it mentioned the crisis of evil political leaders. When there's a demon, heaven will deal with it. But when there's evil in the leader of a country, the whole country will eventually fall apart. Niran's strong, diligent nature impressed me as he further insisted on saving his country amidst danger.
There is no way I didn't love Niran and Pete's duo. Their friendship is what you could call EVERYTHING (Yes, that too! >0<) The amount of trust and support they have for each other is so honorably gratifying. They're the SOULMATES; one could give up their life for the other, no kidding.
"When someone I loved is in danger, be that my friend, my sibling, or my buddy, I do need to save them." - Pete
Their backstories are pretty potent, each moving from their doubts and diffidence. And as they deserved, each being each other's confidence in life, believing in who they are had me sobbing.
And hello, is this what they call a bro thing? Is sitting on your friend's lap, playing a silly fight with your so-called work partner whose souls are so deeply intertwined that they FEEL each other wherever they go and are, IS IT COMMON?
NAUR HECKING WAY IT IS!
(wdym I get to see NANI'S WAIST AND THEIR GIGGLES??? *crying loudly)
On the second thought, even though the CGI could have been a little better with the fog, it still entertained me.

Underwhelming
The premise was quite good and the CGI is good too but after the first half, everything just felt so underwhelming and disappointing. The drama is not scary at all if anyone is concerned. Also the series doesn't know whether to promote thenleads as bromance or a BL because they keep hinting and dancing around fate and connection. Figure out what the show is and stick to that instead of trying to mislead the audience. My main issue is with the plot itself. It is a very slow moving show so I had to watch in 1.5x minimum. The scenarios of illusions was boring, the main fight was a dialogue, the spirit world was boring (although I liked the emotional moment between the leads), and the ending was confusing. I expected more from the ending but no action was happening. And the physical fight scenes were also a bit sloppy. I could give details on all of it but it would be major spoilers.
Overall, the acting was good. I liked all the characters. The male leads are good but I didn't like the hints suggesting they might feel more deeply especially after being yelled at by their fans that this is bromance. Suddenly everyone is saying it's not bromance. Sometimes fans do nothing but ruin a show for others.
Anyway, there is no romance just the writer director playing mind games.
I also want to make a quick note about the intro theme which I loved. Other than that, the show is okay for it's genre. A bit overrated. You might enjoy it if you are a fan of the leads otherwise you're not missing much.
