These episodes are what we would have gotten with WRU? if they were no COVID-19

I was so happy upon hearing news that Saifah and Zon were getting special episodes so that thier love story will be told. I waited with baited breath in anticipation for this couples missing story pieces. Watched the episodes and I would say this- two out of three episodes were good for me.

Story-8.5/10

As I stated before, I loved the first two out of the three episodes. I felt that they added the pieces hat we werw missing from this couple from WRU? The third episode, I am still scratching my head and wondering did we really need it. Cause for me, it's a no.

Acting/Cast-9.5/10

I loved all of the actors acting, especially the characters of Natee and Tanthai!

Music-9.5/10

Totally adore the OST and once again we get Zon and Saifah singing thier song!

Rewatch Valu- 7.5/10
I will rewatch the first two episodes as they were really good to me (in my opinion). However, I still don't see the point of the third episode. So...yeah.

Overall- 9/10

This is not a new story- these are the missing parts of Zon and Saifah storyline. Don't come here looking for something and then getting confused. I would recommend this to other people, but with WRU? so that they can hopefully get the full storyline of a series that got messed up due to COVID-19. In fact, if both WRU? and Zon and Saifah story were combined as one, I feel that I would have given WRU? a higher rating.

Watch this for Saifah and Zon, there's not much of a story, but a lot of FLUFFY MOMENTS <3<3

I was dying to watch this 'cause I just loved the couples in WHY R U? and cause of the pandemic we couldn't see a lot of SaifahZon's story in it. Overall I'm not disappointed, I watched it for their story and it was delivered. Yes, there are somethings that are kinda confusing in the series, but the chemistry between them made up for the lacking story. Good chemistry can always overcome a so-so plot. Both Jimmy and Tommy have clearly developed into better actors and are more comfortable around each other in this series compared to WHY R U?

*MILD SPOILERS AHEAD*
First things first, the timeline is kinda confusing in the series, from what I understood it starts with Zol and Zon interacting after the beach scene in WHY R U? and then Zon narrates what happened between him and Saifah before the beach scene. By the end of episode 2 we are back to present that is after the beach scene and episode 3 is just fluff content that is sure to make go AwwWWWwww........ not much of a story there. Major chunk of the story is in episode 2. That's the issue with the plot. As, for a story there's not much.
But, what sold the show for me was Saifah and Zon being together on the screen and just.....just you know being boyfriends, caring for each other, cuddling and so on....... Their chemistry is palpable and both of them together is too cute for my poor heart to handle. The episode 3 has so many scenes of them being cute. Zon hiding behind the tree to scare Saifah was so silly and sooooo cuteeee........
I absolutely loved the opening song, can't get it out of my head.....
Overall worth watching, for the small story and cute moments of SaifahZon

Thanks for reading. Lots of love Byeeeeeee..........
Edit: the ost has been released on youtube its called Call Me My Boo by Perth(actor who plays Zol, Zon's sister) and guys I'm living for it. Do check it out.

Huh? Why You Gotta Do My Boys Like That

So let me get this straight. The trailers lied to us and this totally isn't the story of their love being deleted and having to get it back? Well then wtf is the point of this mini side series!? Just for more fluff? Listen they were my favorite couple of 'Why R U' but this is completely unnecessary. We barely even got fluff to be honest, it was just weird filler than I'm glad wasn't in the original 'Why R U' series. It didn't make any difference in the story so why release this? I think I'll just stick to watch Saifah and Zon's scenes from before and go with that because I'm confused lol. This also contradicted the whole "seeing TharnType" out of nowhere in the first season, which I chalked up to the whole in a novel nonsense. Now it's super unclear as to what's happening. Scrap this and just stick to the OG series please! Even if it wasn't one of my fave BL's I still love Saifah & Zon's story.

Some other random things I noticed in this. Jimmy and Tommy were super sweaty in this, give the boys some AC please! They also did their makeup really poorly, what was the thick eyeliner and washed out foundation? Bye budget I guess?

Could've offered more, but failed to deliver

First of all, this mini-series was made because SaifahZon did not have enough screentime and wasn't able to shoot their scenes for WhyRU due to COVID-19 so I was expecting something more and it was kind of disappointing. Watch out, this is going to have some spoilers.

Story
They've released the trailer and all of the fans thought that Saifah and Zon was not really true but in Zon's imagination so viewers thought that they would reconcile or start over again and that was a complete lie. In the beginning, Zon was hesitant and didn't want to get together with Saifah then things became the opposite and Saifah was avoiding Zon making him think that it was all his imagination which was shown in the trailer. Later on, they admitted feelings for each other and boom, ending. I like how they've included Zol in this and gave her a bit more screentime but I wish that they could have also shown Saifah's parents and their opinions regarding the relationship because we all know that in WhyRU, Zon's parents approved.
As a fan of Mii2, I was expecting a lot more from them given that they were really interesting in WhyRU and this mini-series took place after ep8 which is their performance right? So I thought I was going to get to know them more and see them progress in their relationship but what I got was fluff. I love cuteness but it doesn't satisfy me as much. I want more dramatic scenes, I want them to show their deep love for each other, how they overcome problems that come their way. Because in reality, none or very few of that happens. And that is my problem with some BL Series today, it lacks in delivering and portraying real-life problems of LGBTQ+ community. I love their cuteness here but I really thought that this was just fanservice and compiled cute moments of Jimmy and Tommy.

Music
Didn't hear a lot and most of their songs were from Season 1.

Acting
Jimmy and Tommy can act. And they really portrayed Saifah and Zon really well. For their acting range, I want to see varieties of emotions in their faces. I want them to act in something dramatic because. to be honest, I am not a big fan of their crying scenes in this mini-series.
Their chemistry is good and they are cute together so I would love to see them in other beautiful future projects. And Tommy is a great singer too.

Overall
This series was a bit of a disappointment for me because I was just expecting more due to the fact that their screentime was short in WhyRU. There's a lot more that would have been good to the plot and even though I haven't read the novel, I believe that this series still has a lot to offer but they failed to deliver it in this mini-series. I view this as fanservice for since it is full of fluff and cuteness. I love MII2 but I generally did not like this. The trailer hyped me but it was so far from the real story. So it is up to you if you want to give it a try.

Cute and Sweet Add-On to Why R U?

I believe this three-part "series" consists of scenes that would have been in Why R U? if not for the pandemic. If it is watched alone, it may not make much sense even if the scenes are cute.

It would be fairer to review these three episodes as part of the Why R U? story, which has Saifah and Zon as a side couple. The three episodes here keep up the sweetness and cuteness while also filling in some of the missing gaps in Why R U?, like how Zon overcomes his resistance to his own feelings for Saifah. It is best watched at one go. Ideally, the scenes should be edited into Why R U?, but the audience may not want to watch Why R U again for the missing scenes.

Perhaps there could have been an attempt to inject more to this add-on to Why R U so that it work a bit better as a standalone mini-series, but I guess there are constraints in budget and all. If you've enjoyed the Saifah and Zon segments in Why R U, you will want to watch this for a sense of completion.

Story Affected by the Pandemic

I give this all10s because the Zon x Saifa story was impacted by the pandemic, and I think the cast and crew did their best to finish their story. There are flashbacks, and new content. They filmed this when the pandemic first started, everyone was confused and in lockdown. Yes, I would have preferred to have watched Zon and Saifa's arc during the airing of WhyRU, but I believe everyone tried their best. The actors have such charisma together, and the characters seem to really care about one another. I appreciated the cast and crew not giving up, and trying to resolve this story for the viewers, who were really mad at the time, that Zon and Saifa's story was not prominent in WhyRU.

A Waste

There was so much potential with this spin-off with Safiah and Zon, but it's lacking in the story department. In the short 3 episodes, we got, not much happens, and for the most part I'm trying to figure out where in the original Why R U this spin-off is supposed to take place.

Let's Dive In.

For the majority of my watch, I was confused. I loved Safiah and Zon, they were my favorite couple out of that series, but I could've done without this spin-off since it just made things more confusing. Does this take place before their trip to the beach, or after? For sure, I would've liked to actually enjoy this series rather than being hella confused.

Safiah and Zon did some cute fluffy moments, but that was it. This story felt like it didn't have a proper plot or conflict. If I can remember correctly, the conflict was that Zon didn't like that his sister's story was coming true, so he tries to stop things with Safiah. Correct? Except, Safiah pretends to forget Zon so that he'll want him back, but it's so unbelievable, and I can tell from the getgo that he's pretending. Nothing exciting about the plot, everything was pretty basic.

We get to see Zon's sister in this for a few scenes, hopefully, she's learned her lesson about writing love stories about her brother. I also wish we could've seen Fighter and Tutor, or maybe this could've even been a longer series to help build up the couples that didn't get a proper ending. For example, I would've loved to see Japan's story and to see who Blue decided between.

Overall, this series was pretty much wasted. There was so much potential to add some exciting things, but oh well. I guess I would recommend this to someone wanting to see more of Safiah and Zon, but I feel like we got a proper ending with them in the original story.

Sigh...

I was excited to see what was cut out from the main story. What we got was a letdown. It wasn't even interesting and just mehh all the way through.

In the main story, I LIVED for Saifan and Zon. Saifah is such a pretty name btw, lol. I'm always weak to the relationships where the people fight and find love in the person they hated. Plus, they had a hot kissing scene when I thought it was going to be a kiss and hold.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't watch this, BUT it's all up to you at the end of the day.

Cute and confusing

I love SaifahZon with my whole heart. They've become my comfort characters/couple and when I got to know about this, I was just SO excited. So, here's the thing about the special eps:
Do they add something to their story? No
Do they let us see things we were supposed to see in WRU but couldn't due to COVID? Also no
Are they confusing? A lil bit.
Did I like them? ABSOLUTELY.
I may be biased, ngl, but I really liked it. Without spoilers, it let us see what happens when Fighter and Tutor were on the beach the first time + what happens after they all go to the beach together. A lot of people feel cheated by the trailer and I get it but... Idk man, you really expected a lot of drama in a couple like this? And, like... The "drama" happens when Fighter and Tutor are on the beach, you already know what happens after that, yet people were expecting idk magic or something like that, like "yeah, their whole story is now erased" or something?
Also, it's just 3 eps special, you can't ask it the same you'd ask if it was a whole ass series or another season.
Anyway, the good stuff: SaifahZon being adorbs and cute, seeing them talk from heart to heart, showing & expressing how much they love each other and puppy!Zon (you'll get it once you watch it) is just adorable. I loved it and I am really glad we got 3 more eps of these two.

I knew this series was coming from the press releases made back when the series originally aired...

But I didn't know what to expect.

I agree with many of the comments here. It is not really a terrific story on its own. In fact, I am not sure if there is really even a story here, it is more a series of clips. I thought it was just OK at best because of *how* it was made into this special series.

If you insert these parts into Why RU series, they fit fine and make sense. I actually had to read the comments here to figure out where these special episodes fit into the main storyline. But overall, I am a bit underwhelmed at how these were edited or presented or something.

Tommy and Jimmy are good actors, and they seem to like each other in real life. There was chemistry in Why RU. There isn't a whole lot of chemistry here, again because of where this all fits within the timeline of the main series. I don't think it is fair to blame them for world events or poor editing or whatever. So I will basically ignore that aspect of things in this series.

Too bad they couldn't have gone back and re-edited the original series as a "director cut" or something with these scenes added. I would have probably re-watched the whole series. Instead, we are left with a bunch of fluff, which is fine, but it would have got a lot better rating from me, and likely from others, if these episodes were put into context.

Someone smarter than me can probably recommend the right order to do this, but I wonder what would happen if you watched Why RU and this series co-mingled? Do some DIY "editing", and watch things in a certain "wrong" order like people do with Star Wars, Marvel, and other similar movie franchises.

I expected a little more than I got. The idea of blending between the novel and the real story was solid. A little childish, naive. They turned the beautiful twenty-five-year-old singer Tommy into a disintegrating tiny naive boy with a traditional helmet on his head in the form of carefully combed afina (Moravian) or bangs (Czech) in his eyes, so the prettiest thing about the series is a serial song, but it was already recorded outside series and presented here as the second video in the Videos folder, where both "boys" already look civil, not bound by the story, and their relationship in that clip sounds more true, more believable than the entire miniseries together.

Well……

I acknowledge this review will have an unpopular opinion.

This was a cute story but it continues with the very bizarre story concept established in Why R U. I think this was supposed to be part of the original series but then the pandemic happened. The production team did the best they could with the parent story and I was satisfied with the results. I started to enjoy Why R U when it focused more on Fighter and Tutor.

Here is my unpopular opinion. I enjoyed this side story but I could do without it. It really did not add anything. I actually like the characters Saifah and Zon. I simply could not fully enjoy their storyline because it is heavily tied to the one thing I hate about Why R U which is the main story concept.
