I'd read about Proposal Daisakusen on MDL before and the storyline intrigued me but I'd never found the time to watch it. However when a Japanese exchange student came to stay at my house and I found him on the couch absolutely cracking up while watching this I decided I had to give it a go asap and I am SO GLAD I did :)

Proposal Daisakusen was definitely one of my all-time favorite dramas. I loved how the storyline was very unique and something we can all relate to. Who wouldn't jump at the opportunity to be able to go back and time and fix your mistakes and regrets? Needless to say, I very much enjoyed the storyline and it was great to watch a drama which didn't have the same predictable-ness as many others out there.

One of the things that stood out for me in this drama was the fact the characters were all very realistic. In this drama Ken (Yamashita Tomohisa) is at the wedding of his childhood friend, Rei (Nagasawa Masami), but not as her groom like he wishes he could be. Instead she is getting married to one of their old teachers, Tetsuya (Fujiki Naohito). Now, I have watched enough dramas to expect that Tetsuya would be a horrible man so we are rooting for Ken to go back in time and win over Rei. However, Tetsuya was actually a lovely man and I found this a refreshing change from the typical love triangle as we are conflicted inside just like Rei. Does Ken really deserve to take Rei away from Tetsuya? This felt a lot more realistic to me instead of the typical love triangle and was one of the stand out reasons I enjoyed this drama.

The acting in this drama was a definite 10 for me as all the characters were convincing and I really felt connected to them. I also gave the music a 10 as I really enjoyed the soundtrack. :) As for re-watch value I give this drama an 8. It's the type of drama you could easily just watch your favorite episodes again and skip the ones you didn't like so much as it's a tad repetitive after a while.

After watching this drama you will feel like you've been through a huge big journey with Ken and his friends and you will have learnt many lessons. I know that after I'd finished this journey I definitely felt a sense of life live without regrets :) We're all not as lucky as Ken to be able to relive our past!

I already mentioned it in many places many times:
this drama is astonishing!
When I read the description I only thought: 'oh no, another story about a guy who didn't get his girl' and 'What an idiot to want to change it at the WEDDING!'. I absolutely didn't expect anything! So I gave it the first-episode-chance like I always do and......
it threw me off my chair.

Story:
You'd never expect it, but you get to see a really sweet and clumsy lovestory that begins in gradeschool and just doesn't work out as it could. Watching this drama you find yourself cheering on Kenzou who gives his very best to get his girl, you feel sorry for him when he is frustrated with himself and feel the depth of the whole plot and the complicated feelings the different characters carry. Each one is shown as very important, each and every one of the characters make the story complete. With ProDai your feelings go on a ride with a rollercoaster. Watch it youself: you will laugh and cry, tense up and feel frustrated. And then again you`ll feel nostalgic. That's something pretty special about ProDai. An important moodmaker is the

music: Molgol800's 'Chiisana koi no uta' became my favourite song after this drama. Everytime I hear it I can still see Kenzou running. As you watch this drama you feel like this song encompasses YOUTH. And it makes you feel nostalgic. Its not merely backgroung music. no. It symbolizes the highschool time of the friends, their jokes and funny times.(the fun didn't end with HS) The music makes the mood. That's the same for all dramas but I never felt it as clear as in ProDai. These songs can really touch your heart(no exaggeration)

rewatch value: This is a drama you can watch as many times as you want. There may be good ones out there you can only watch once caus' they are too tragic or have too many surprising contents, but Prodai isn't one of them. I can't really count how many times I watched it...

Overall:
This is absolutely not meant to be a hymn to this drama. I have to confess that one reason I first set sight on it was yamapi. But you'll be surprised. The story has depth, the characters have humour( a whole lot) and the actors play their parts more than acceptable. If you're still reluctant then give it a first-episode-chance like I did. For all who persisted until this point: thx for reading.
HALLELUJAH CHANCE!

This one was a fun, light-hearted drama - it's a rom-com so that's to be expected. I watched it because of Yamashita Tomohisa - I recently watched Buzzer Beat and really enjoyed it so I went looking for other dramas he's done and found this one. I think the main thing that kept me from enjoying it more is Ken and Rei themselves. As I watched their past unfold, I often found myself wondering exactly when he decided he was in love with her - because his past self apparently either didn't have a clue or suffered very much from young and stupid, and they seem to have spent their entire childhood quarreling. (he even says at one point that he truly was the worst or something like that). And Rei, in order to cover her own feelings, is often kind of mean to Ken (which she finally admits at the end of the series). This is one of those dramas that is fraught with misunderstandings, missed moments, miscalculations and missing common sense - so sometimes I was left wanting to strangle the two of them.

So, fun to watch, but know you're probably in for some frustration too - if you don't mind that, go for it and enjoy :)

No, no, no. After all the web recommendations I've read about this drama, and it has turned like this? Really?
A plot that could give us watchers more laughter and fun, while our hero tries to get over this "childhood friend" status and tell the girl he loves the words she is also waiting to hear: "I like you, will you go out with me?".
But no, right? Angst and drama because both the "childhood friends" are pathetic to boot. Back and forth but back again. Never saying what's really inside our hearts and minds until the very wedding day's speech after going to the past making almost the same mistakes.
Generally speaking, the plot is good, the final product is not so "awesome" as some Yamapi fans make you think all over the internet.
The good thing: some messages that Ken had to learn through his "back and forth but back again" experience.
Some performances were good, even Yamapi did a good job in some episodes.

The bad thing: some absurd comedy that really didn't made us laugh, just sigh and say "it's almost over" (since episode 1 though).

The worst thing: Some of the characters were really all over the top. I'll explain myself better.
Ken: was too pathetic almost all the show.
Rei: pathetic all the show, sorry but I didn't like her performance.
Tsuru: do I have to say that sometimes he was so that annoying that it turned out unbearable?
Eri: the same as Tsuru, sorry.
Itou sensei: I'm really sorry for the actor who portrayed this character but, I really have seen him in better ones and I know he's a great actor, this one is forgettable.
Tada sensei: I know Naohito Fujiki is an awesome actor, he's handsome and has a beautiful smile, but seeing him smile like a dumb in each episode was really painful.

I know some Yamapi fans would say that this words are "only my opinion" and yes it is, but theirs saying "Operation Love" ("Proposal Daisakusen") is one of Yamapi's best works or a great and funny drama, are also their opinions.

It was seven years ago when I first watched this with my friends. I remember back then we all binge watch this after class in the rooftop until 11pm.
It never occurred to me that I'd re-watched this and feeling so 'Yamapi' because like him, I was also with my first love watching this. He told me to finish this drama 2 years ago 'cause I never got to finish this before. I know this may sound so crazy but I bawled every minute of this drama. I thought to myself, I should have lingered every moment before and made better choices so I don't have all these past mistakes that resulted my present situation. However, it all goes down to this: Be wary of your actions, 'cause it'll determine your future someday. I hsould have taken this to heart.

Because right now, who would have thought that we'd never end up with each other.
p.s: I thought yamapi was on running man. hahahaha

The plot of this drama is definitely unique for a RC and I enjoyed the general premise of going back in time to try and fix your mistakes to get a different outcome. What I really didn't like was how long it took Ken to actually speak his feelings to Rei, which made the drama drag. The first few episodes were good, the middle ones were hit or miss, and the very last episode or two were good again.

The acting by all parties was ok. Ken's character was a bit flat and uninteresting. Rei's character I enjoyed and I thought her acting was spot on. All their friends had fun characters that added a lot to the story and without them it wouldn't have been as good. Tada-san's character was also a bit flat as well and at first I didn't really care for it at all.

Music- I loved the soundtrack of this drama and the ending ost was great. I'm going to have to see if I can dig up some sheet music for the songs as I liked them so much.

Rewatch value- is so, so as although I may rewatch sometime I think I would skip a few of the middle episodes since now that I know the plot it wouldn't be all that detrimental.

Probably this is the show that makes me love Yamapi. Even though his acting is not that good, but still... the plot & the chemistry are awesome.
You will find yourself screaming in front of your laptop because of Ken's baka-ness. And get our heartbroken as Rei couldn't bluntly said her feelings all these times. And oh... all of those running scene, 'halelujah chance', 'don't knock new york' are the best. Even after so many years passed, I can't get enough of them that easy.

I also love how Japanese dorama put their own humor that other nation couldn't even have. I would say, this drama is a complete package; with a slice of life (teach us about how to be honest with our own feelings and really grasp our chance cautiously because we can never turn back time), a very heartwarming friendship goals, and the growth of relationship between childhood friends. A very recommended drama!

This was my third Yampi drama I watched. I liked it when Ken had to call for it to go back in time it was a memorable quote. The music at the ending of the drama was perfect. The friendship between those five was great. I liked how Ken-Zou had to run for times to tell Rei. I didn't like the teacher character in this drama. Each episode was like will he make his wish come true or not? I would watch this drama again anytime. This drama story was perfect it made sense simple. Yampi is a great actor.

How can I say .... really annoying.

That main protagonist is really annoying. Too hesitating, unbelievably annoying character.

Around first 4-5 episodes, it was okay for his hesitation. But after that, I really can't stand watching him anymore.
I just complete the series because I like to know how that end.

That main actor "Yamashita Tomohisa", I will not watch another drama of him. His acting and character is really not fit for me. I tried another of him "From 5 to 9" due to Ishihara Satomi and also annoying in that drama too. How I feel? ... I just want to smack him in the face .. that much annoying.

Story line is good but I think if they cut off around 5-6 episodes, it'll be better. 11 episodes? they need to prolong the story so main protagonist need to hesitate more and more, it become unrealistic. After the drama, feeling is not good coz of my fury for protagonist.

FRUSTRATIONS OVERLOADD!!

Watching this drama 14 years after its release felt so weird to me. Weird in a sense that I'm watching this even when there's a lot of dramas being release left and right and I honestly think I watched this mainly because of the nostalgia and sentiments it holds.

Anyways, I will use the words "Frustration & Irritation" to sum up my whole reaction for this drama. Heaven knows how many times I shouted "Yama-P!! I'm totally pissed right now" and all those sort of rants. His character just made me feel mad almost each and every episode. Even when I thought he's improved a lot and is expecting MORE from him yet this guy never fails to disappoint me again and again even during the final episode. Just how far can he go? Will he even improve? Hayyss..

I finished this drama with the thoughts of "Will this guy be okay in the future?" "Will he be able to make Rei happy even after marriage?" "Will he be able to work it out without the Fairy's help?" this drama left me with fun, cute memories but mostly worries and frustrations.

Nonetheless, I'll give it a 8.0 overall since it deserved it!!

Story - 8.0, Despite my frustrations and emotional rants this drama still made me felt a lot of emotions does proves that it was well produced.

Acting/Cast - 9.0, Fine? I just feel like Japanese will never go wrong when it comes to their actors and the way they act. They have their own colors and ways that is completely different to others and is very unique.

Music - 9.0, They were decent and the background or filler music are always on point.

Rewatch Value - 5.0, I have decided that I will never go through this whole process of emotional fatigue again. LOL I will even make sure not to watch the adaptations. Hahaha

Overall - 8.0, Nonetheless, It was a good watch. An indication of a good drama is when it's able to make you feel so much emotion and it did, like TREMENDOUSLY!!

On the day of his unrequited love's wedding, Yamashita Tomohisa's character finds himself reflecting on the missed connections over their years together. He gets the opportunity to visit those special times and attempt to change fate. Yamashita Tomohisa and Nagasawa Masami have a good chemistry throughout the series. This drama is a touching story about life, friendship and memories.

Pacing Issues, Good Friendship Theme

LIKES:
Locations, cinematography, use of props, costumes/wardrobe, were all good.
Music was good and appropriate, but again nothing too memorable.
The friendship of the main 5 was really well delivered.
The message of taking action, communication and trust, were strong throughout the show, especially with Ken’s time jump situations.

DISLIKES:
PRODUCTION:
Some scenes the waves or background sounds overpowered the actor/actress voices. Some shaky camera moments too and zooming in too close, (if I can see nose hair it’s too close!). Also pretty lame FXs for the Fairy intervention moments.
DIRECTING: reactions or under reactions too way too long, which is bad directing. PACING: slow, very very slow. They had Iwase Ken (Yamashita) running around way too much, seemed like filler.
WRITING:
They tried to make the time jumps work, but without enough character development, the “changes” fell flat. This had potential and got lost in delivery. Way too repetitive to have real substance.
It’s supposed to be a romance, but there was none; no chemistry, almost no kisses, very little of everything romantic. Every time Ken tried to speak up, he was ignored abruptly. He was actions speak louder than words, but the girl didn’t appreciate anything. So can she really say she liked him? And it was the typical cliche stuff of guy has to ask girl out, rather than having both pursue each other. It’s understandable that he took way too long to verbally express anything, but she’d have to be super dumb to fall for a guy just saying “I like you”! The 5 are supposed to be great friends, but Ken and Tetsuya constantly bully Hisashi. Some scenes they literally threw Hisashi aside and it wasn’t funny. Was that their attempt at comedy?
ACTING: Even from Yamashita Tomohisa was subpar. He tried with what he was given, but didn’t really connect with the viewer.

OVERALL: I liked the friendship theme, but not much else. I was disappointed throughout, even the special wasn’t very good. I won’t watch it again. There are so many other rom-coms or fantasy romance dramas out there, even die hard fans of Yamashita might not make it through all the episodes.
