Two Broken Souls, One Heartbreaking Journey This BL Deserves More Attention Than It Gets

So many good Chinese BLs are airing lately, and I came across this series on GagaOOLala. Gosh, it did not disappoint at all. At first, I expected a simple high school romance, but this drama is so much darker, emotional, and thrilling than I imagined. It honestly deserves way more attention.

I honestly don’t understand how some Thai BLs get so much attention when the plot is weak, the acting feels cringe, and the story goes nowhere. Meanwhile, Lost to You is genuinely one of the best series I’ve watched recently, yet it remains so underrated.

The story follows Zhan Wang, a rich teenager who returns to his hometown while secretly carrying a terminal illness, and Xu Yuan, a hardworking top student struggling to support his family while being treated like a jinx by the entire town. Their personalities clash at the beginning, but watching their relationship slowly grow felt so natural and emotional without being overly dramatic.

What really makes this series stand out is the atmosphere and emotional depth. The plot keeps you invested without revealing too much too quickly, and every episode carries this heavy emotional tension that makes it hard to stop watching. This series completely broke me and had me crying so much. The way the emotions slowly build and make you attached to the characters feels so real and natural.

Every scene feels meaningful, and the pain, love, and struggles of the characters stay with you even after the episode ends. The fighting scenes were surprisingly well done, the soundtrack fit perfectly with the mood, and the acting from both leads was excellent.

It is rare to find a BL where the plot itself is this strong while also delivering such emotional impact. China once again proves how strong their BL storytelling can be, especially when mixing romance with darker themes and emotional depth. Everything about this series worked for me, the chemistry, the cinematography, the music, and the heartbreaking yet beautiful story.

This series has also made me cried a few times, the hospital scene was absolutely heartbreaking. Watching the person you love lying in front of you, not knowing if they'll survive, has to be one of the most painful things anyone could experience. When he said, "I have to have my surgery. I might go blind or die," my heart shattered.Xu Yuan's response made the scene even more emotional. "I'll stay with you no matter what." Such a simple promise, yet it carried so much love, fear, and unwavering devotion. The performances were incredible, and the raw emotion felt so real that I couldn't hold back my tears. This episode reminded me that sometimes the quietest moments of love are the ones that hurt the most. 💔

Ending Review
I know a lot of people on that page didn’t like the ending, especially because Xu Yuan’s terminal illness seemed to be left unanswered.
Maybe I see it a little differently. In the end, not every question needed an answer. As long as they had each other, that was enough. You could see that Xu Yuan was willing to give up his life for Zhan Wang, and that kind of love speaks louder than any explanation.
I agree the finale could have been stronger, but it still touched my heart. It made me cry more than once, and despite its flaws, it’s a story I’ll gladly return to. Some endings are imperfect, yet the emotions they leave behind stay with us long after the screen fades to black.

Definitely a must-watch for BL fans because Lost to You deserves so much more recognition. This is the kind of series that reminds you how powerful storytelling can be.

What was the finale?

While I watched the show, it was the typical stuff I expected from such a show. We had the evil dad, who turns out to be gay in the finale, we have misunderstandings and we have even two gay and one lesbian couple... And because any show needs drama, we have the bullying. So far, so good.

But the finale... WTF? The both stand of the rocks and watch the broken up comet which were toooooo far away to have any impact directly, but of course could have made a tsunami is they would have hit water. Normally they should have the comet up their faces and then ok, they both die - for what is the question? Xu giving in so willingly did also not make much sense. When you are already out, you should not care about others anymore. Period.

So for me, the finale did ruin the whole series, because for me it makes no sense whatsoever. Dad being outed as being gay came too late, that would have had more impact if we had seen his past also. That he then turned 180 degrees also makes no sense. When you are in denial for DECADES, you do not change over night, It would have made more sense, when Wang had beaten him up about it, but no. But I guess they did not think about that or they run out of time (and budget) becauase they wasted it through the whole story. The series did have it's lengths, they could have compacted the story and put in some other focus like the dad to have much more impact.

And because the finale ruins everything I don't get the high praise from some reviews... what is wrong with you people? While the acting of the MLs was fine, the acting of the side couple was weak. They did not feel natural in the series, but when you see them in private they have the chemistry which is missing in this series. Production quality was also fine, but that can't save any series. Because of all the factors I deducted my rating heavily... it could have been a 7.5 with a proper finale, but this felt rushed and imprudent. And I don't like it.

I just couldn't.....

No matter how I tried, I just couldn't get past how choppy, nonsensical and boring this was. 12 episodes that basically lived on a loop for 10. The ending, the tatooed butt thong and the father being gay. Make it make sense and maybe my opinion would change. I struggled through the last 3 episodes ending with a headache because of nothing having any impact to warrant this.

Were there any moments that were endearing? I can only think of one - When they were in the hospital room and he weepingly begged him to live for him.

I was blindly rooting for the second cp until they allowed an older ex teacher to kiss a younger student on the school compound infront of the entire school. Now, where is this acceptable? All sanity left the script at this point coupled with the revelation of the thong. Another thing that felt very unrealistic: older brother is gay, younger brother is gay, sister is a lesbian, father is gay. I was waiting to see if they'd make the mother surprise us, too.

Their acting skills were passible. The older brother's face had one emotion. Dead. The script existed just for shock value. In entirety, it was not horrible but it was too much for me to care that much about. Easily forgotten.

Tragic but so good

So far I’m loving this so much. like I know it’s gonna get sadder but for now I’m loving the characters! whoever did the castings thank you cause omg the Main leads are killing it. also with the second episode are we possibly getting a hint that the brother/doctor is gonna be the 2nd lead couple with the other guy. I was a bit iffy till I remember in the dialogue that he is a senior that got held back so if I do that math he should be 18/19 which is legal. so far I’m loving this but omg like wdym he’s probably gonna die soon due to the tumor like😭 and then all the scenes with his grandma make me tear up like this poor kid. but on the radio in that scene where he is in the car and then he puts his headphones on, we hear that what was being said is that meteors hitting earth in 3 months and I remember there’s a scene in the intro where there standing apart with what looks like to be meteors crashing down so is this gonna be even more tragic😭😭 They really said the fatal brain cancer plot wasn’t enough so let’s add in the end of the world trope like what🥲🥲 so far there only two episodes out at the time of my review so who knows what’s in it for this drama but I will say I’m loving it so much and I need more! like this is definitely a drama I will be watching every time an episode drop even though it might get really sad…..

Unnecessary melodrama, Unsatisfactory ending

A lot of cliche over dramatic scenarios stiched together, but enjoyable nonetheless. They tried to make it nice and cute despite having a low budget. Production value is very average & everything reflects that.

Bad writing is the major problem. It feels like a lot of tropes gathered together, and what the hell was that ending? Ambiguous & annoying.

The main couple is sweet and fluffy, don't really care for the second couple. There's even a third Yuri couple, not much developed.
I was reluctant to start this because in the first episode itself MC's got terminal illness. Most of the decisions of the characters & the overall scenes do not make any sense. Logic feel like a luxury while watching this. They should've developed the story better. If you have a lot of time to kill, this is an okay choice.

what the actual f???

sorry to say, but this is entering my list of most horrible/ridiculous endings 🥲

I don't really dislike open endings. but this one felt so bad that it felt like no ending at all🥲 it left me feeling so mad that i was wishing i could get my time back.

this drama had a pretty good start for me. even though I hated the second couple pretty much from the beginning and was skipping their scenes, i was genuinely liking the main couple.

and then things started going downhill from ep6. a series of nonsensical writing, biggest one being that suddenly we have a random GL subplot that made ZERO SENSE, and i couldn't care less about that couple. by this point, i (and i know so many other watchers as well) was skipping both the 2nd couple AND the 3rd couple 🥲

since then, each week the writing got more and more nonsensical. by ep10 i was just waiting for this to end. and that is never a good sign. however, i was still genuinely looking forward to seeing how they wrap this up. but oh boy....once again, WHAT THE F WAS THAT ENDING????

like i said, i don't mind open endings. i don't particularly dislike sad endings either. in fact, in this case a sad ending would've been perfectly logical. but what did we get? THAT SHITA$$ ENDING.

unfortunately, that ending ended up ruining the drama beyond repair for me.

I'm glad that there are some people who liked this ending, though. they don't have to feel as robbed as me and many other people 😭

Fuckass Finale

July 3, 2026

What the fuck is that ending?

I am genuinely so appalled cause I really look forward to watching and finishing this series. Honestly, I will take ep 11 as the main ending cause I refuse to accept that ending. It's open ended and it feels so out of place. Rushed, incoherently done. I don't even know how to explain how confused I was as I watched the last episode. Are they trying to imply that they both will die because of the meteor or it's one of those last moments before the final doom. I feel like at this point they should have just given us a sad ending than whatever ending they came up with.

Regardless, I loved watching the progression of our main characters, they had the strongest chemistry ever. I truly loved it. Ep 1 to 11, you will be missed thoroughly.

What a terrible ending!

Well, I was going to give this a 9, but that ending was rubbish! The story was brilliant - right up to the last minute. All the young men were very good. It's a toss up between Tang and Jia, as to who I liked best. Jia is definitely one to watch, but Tang played his role so well. Cui, who played Bian - the untamed tough guy - was very convincing.
The writers really didn't think about the viewers, when they decided on the ending!

Good show, without the ending

In this serie, the storyline of Zhan Wang and Xu Yuan was my favorite, truly loved their chemistry, the slow build up of their relationship, ZW who went from arguing about his grandma house to doing everything to make XY life better, to make him believe that he isnt jinx as everyone claim, the tension between them felt sensual even when it was not, XY loved ZY a lot that he risked his life by making a wish in dangerous weather, i fecided to believe they both survived and living happily.

I didn't care about the sister and the ex fiancé after the girlie outed ZW's brother, i couldn't look past that.

The abusive dad deserves hell, him turning out to be gay wasn't surprising to me at all, smh, ill ignore bs writing of last ep.

Overall this was a nice watch

Good show, not so good ending

I started this series blindly and it quickly became a fave. I was always looking forward to this series every week but the last few episodes and the ending were disappointing. I usually don't mind open endings but this just feels like the writers didn't know what to do and just finished it randomly...
Positives
-Interesting story
-Interesting characters
-good acting and chemistry
-beautiful cinematography
Negatives
-Unfinished ending
-poor execution in last 3 eps
-Comet and dad storyline were handled poorly and the comet one just unnecessary
-uninteresting 2nd couple (imo) and would've preferred more time with the main
All in all I liked it but i ended up a bit dissapointed.

Crappy ending!

This was one of the best BL dramas i have seen, but that ending was one of the worst i have ever seen!
This story was very good and very well executed by the actors and production. It had beautiful visuals and music.
I loved the lines the couples said at the beginning of each episode.
The tattoo scene was a bit unrealistic but still beautifull.

The main couple had great chemistry, the kisses and NC scenes were very good.
The second couple had good chemistry and good kisses and NC scene.
And we even got a bit of GL as a bonus. No kisses, but clearly a couple.

The ending was awfull.
My interpretation of the ending is: they died. And the end clip means, you make your own luck instead of wishing for it.
But that was one of the most crappy endings i have ever seen....
I'd rather have seen them die, being together and telling how they love each other than this...

I do recommend watching this amazing series, but just keep in mind that you will be mad ad the last 5 minutes.

It works but the ending was trash

I started this drama without much expectations, mainly out of boredom. But here's my review anyways
It started with Zhang Wang coming back to Hong Town after a long while because he was diagnosed with a tumor and he wanted to visit his grandma one last time before he died and he met this kid who lived in his grandma's house. He grew hatred for him but still cared about him, Typical enemies to lovers.
I have to admit it was a low budget show, the kisses were totally rubbish and the so called ''spicy scenes'' were a mess. It's a bit cliché and cringe but it works. I guess it was something to look forward to. The last episode was kinda disappointing. Anyways it was okay in all but I will never rewatch it. It had great potential but oh well 🤷
