A great cast, a funny plot, some laugh, some tears, a little bit of romance, ... that's what Fashion King is all about.

The main reason why I watch this movie is for is casting mostly. I mean gaah Sulli & Joo Won ?! What else can I ask while two of my favorite actors play together. And I must say that Sulli's acting improved a lot from the past few years (The Pirates & Fashion King clearly shown her improvement).
As expected from Joo Won he also proves once again how good as an actor he can be, in a dorky and cute way this time.

The universe here is fashion, school & rivalry. I must say that the combination of the three of them is rather great. I didn't laugh as much as I expected, but I felt very entertained.

It's a refreshing movie with a pretty nice cast and a funny story. Watch it if you want to pass a good time.

ps: special mention for Joo Won OST's song - Happy Birthday

I really liked the plot of this show, but it didn't quite hit the right spots for me. Being a huge fan of K-dramas I was ecstatic to find some K-films on a recent flight and watched all of them, but I was disappointed that this movie didn't get my in the heart like so many K-dramas do. This was a bit sad since it combined so many elements that I love, fashion, a comic-book/webtoon styling, great cast, comedy, angst... but it never quite got there.

I feel like this plot really could have done with being made into a drama instead, there was enough conflict to be explored through 16 episodes, or even a 10-episode web-drama would have been good. The acting was really engaging from Joo-Won and the rest. I'm not sure about Sulli since I haven't really seen her in much, but I thought she did OK.

One of my favourite films is Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World so I loved the styling of this film, but I felt it was quite jarring showing how bad the bullying was to the cartoon comedy. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to feel dark or fluffy so it ended up just being uncomfortable.

There were a lot of sub-plots that could been excellent in a drama, such as the "bad guy"'s daddy issues and the romance triangle being worked in more. That all could have been really fun, I feel like some of the material was a bit wasted in a movie an hour and a half long.

I definitely think this movie is worth watching, but comparatively it wasn't as great as other things I have watched. I thank it forever for introducing me to Joo Won though.

Watch this because I watched the scene where they're entering the school. There are the sun, ice & very long robe & hair bangs ^_^. Really eye catching. Unfortunately it's stop at that time only... :(

But unfortunately I'm quite disappointed with the story. For me this movie contain to much message in one movie, it's better in drama format than in movie format, cause of course the duration is longer so what they want to tell us is more elaborate.

What this movie want to achieve for me still big question mark. Are they want this movie about someone who used to be bullied can became special because of fashion... Or about fashion itself can make someone be special... Really hope this is in drama not in movie.

What are lack:
* Woo Gi Myeong (GM) instantly change from loser into someone popular in his new school. People who used to be bullied can't be instantly became confidant in one day. Even after they show the clip where he was bullied, GM didn't even flinch his eye, he just casually help his friend who stand up for him. & after that he just decided to enter fashion competition.... Makes no sense at all. If in the drama, we can see his fight & what became his decision to change.
* Kim Won Ho (WH). The family problem never explained or even solved, we just know he has issue with his father. Never explained why exactly he instantly hate GM, just because he is new boy in school who instantly popular & go after his girl... Not clear.

This is a fairly average film. The cast is really good though and I loved Kim Sung Oh in this. Everytime I watch something with him in it, no matter how big the role, I am impressed. He is just so versatile as an actor.

I actually thought this would be much funnier when I watched the trailer but there were some serious moments as well and the standard high school bullying which I hated. Rich kids always feeling threated by poorer/less fortunate students is so ridiculous.

I did like the friendhip between Gi Myeong, Chang Joo and Kim Nam Jeong. I liked Gi Myeong's mother as well. Very sweet and caring mother.

Why watch this film? For the actors, I guess. Or, if you are not in a mood for something too heavy. Though this one does get a little boring. Another problem was that the film focuses on representing the webtoon dynamics, trying to present that manga feeling as good as possible, which, unfortunately, results to make the film look cheep and kind of a TV movie. The story is not that bad, as the characters are interesting, but everything that happens is comical, odd and idiotic. Even the performances couldn't save the movie, as the events are simply too ridiculous to make sense.

I'm very iffy about this movie. I liked it - the plot was nice, though exaggerated at parts, it was a little funny, a little tragic, a little romantic - but I can't say it was memorable. However, the lessons taught by the movie will definitely stay with me. "Don't let your clothes define you." When I do remember this movie, I'm sure I'll only have good feelings because I really loved the ending.

The plot, at it's base, was very good. I really loved the "clothes don't matter, it's how you wear them" theme, and I think that the ending tied things up nicely. However, the beginning was rather slow and awkwardly comical, even though I think that was the point that the writers were trying to make. They were making light of Ki Myung's awful experiences, which kind of made me press my lips together even when I wanted to laugh. The relationships between the "good" characters were very admirable, especially between Ki Myung, Kim Nam Jeong and Chang Joo. The antagonists were antagonists 'til the very end. It wasn't groundbreaking, but it was good.

Acting was, of course, wonderful. I mean, Joo Won is my favorite, so my views may be slightly biased. I'm surprised that this movie wasn't better than it was for me, but that probably had more to do with writing and directing than casting. I actually didn't recognize Sulli at first, which was a good thing, since I wasn't a fan of her acting in "To the Beautiful You". Her acting has improved dramatically, and when I realized it was Sulli, I couldn't believe it. I hope she gets some good roles in the future, because I may have disliked her even more because of her meek role in "To the Beautiful You", which wasn't exactly my favorite drama. (I dropped it. I couldn't handle the forced romance and cheesy acting.) Anyway, the acting was a plus.

Music wasn't memorable, and I'm not sure I'll be rewatching this in the future. I may watch parts of it, but not fully. It was much too slow in the beginning, even though I really liked the plot and theme. I would definitely recommend watching this movie, especially on a lazy day~ <3
