Even though Pride is a bit darker and more serious, these two dramas both have a male lead dedicated to sports, who fall in love with a woman who is hard to reach. I would recommend Pride for those who were hoping for a more worked out love story. It is also aimed at an older audience.

In this drama based on basketball (and somewhat on the anime Slam Dunk), a Taiwanese national team basketballer.
Duan Chen Feng, whose world consists of his 2 greatest loves: basketball and his girlfriend, Xiao Xi. They find their perfect world shattered, however, when on the day of his most important match, Duan Chen Feng has an accident on his way to the competition, and paralyses Angel, who just happens to be the sister of Iceman, his biggest opponent since they were young.

This drama is about a female figure skater, Lee Haru, who is hoping to make it big. Her life gets complicated when she reunites with her step-brother, Shin Hwal, after many years of being separated. Hwal's father and Haru's mother died tragically in a car accident. Hwal and his friends; Hae Yoon, Hyun Tae, and Sang Hee all work at the same ad agency. While Haru is trying to make her dreams come true, she unintentionally brings together her skating coach, Choi Soo In, and Hwal together. Haru starts developing feelings for Hwal but things are complicated further as Soo In is her brother's estranged wife.
Tsuchiya Tomomitsu is the captain of his high school basketball team. He is also a senior at his school. Even though he is not that good in basketball, he is selected as bench player for the prefecture qualifying round. The underclassmen on his team, who are all better than him, are not happy about his selection. Tomomitsu then meets Hatori Sae. She is also a senior at the same high school. She keeps watching Tomomitsu shoot three pointers. They become closer and develop a romantic relationship. Suddenly, Sae transfers to another school without saying a word.

Minoru (Kento Hayashi) and Aki (Kie Kitano) have grown up together from a young age. Their dynamics remains the same into their high school years. Wanting to break out of this situation, Minoru starts going to a boxing gym run by Oki (Takao Osawa), whom he met by chance. However, Aki, who gets wind of it, is fascinated with boxing as well, and joins the same boxing club. Minoru feels depressed as he is again unable to break free of Aki's influence. Through boxing, however, Minoru realizes that he has been running away from Aki and not facing her properly until now.
A delinquent named Taiga Makoto comes to Tokyo to fulfill a vow to avenge his past. Saotome Ai is the only daughter of a prominent and distinguished Tokyo family. Under normal circumstances, people from such vastly different backgrounds would never have met, but fate had different plans, and the pair wind up falling in love.
