The girls intro was a little otp

The way they cut the beginning was too cruel. The director leads you to believe that the fl was repeatedly raped (there was even a scene with a gang of boys surrounding her) since she was a kid. But once she arrives at her new school, people comment about how miraculous it was that she made it to 16 uncorrupted (aka a virgin). Her life was still a constant struggle tho, which made her want to do self harm.

The ml was aloof and full of angst about his position. His backstory gave him a nice wounded prince vibe. But the ways he ended up protecting his little bride was probably my favorite part of the movie.

The nonverbal scenes were visually striking. Manga like. The fight scenes actually werent that bad either. Have seen much worse. Two of the guardian demons were pretty cute too. The second movie in the series is about the guardian/doctor/school nurse.

The music was unremarkable. The acting was ok. The story itself had potential, but the execution was low budget. And even tho there wasnt a lot of romantic moments for the leads, at least they had a happy ending.
So in conclusion. I consider this a strange little story that some may find enjoyable(reminds me of a campy horror flick)but others may find disturbing or cheaply done.

So I got sucked into this one EXACTLY the way the previous reviewer did: the 10 minute asiancrush youtube video.

1) I was intrigued by the story since I love supernatural and fantasy storylines,
2) it was a movie instead of a drama, and
3) I needed a drama/movie less than 7.0 for my 2020 Drama Watch Challenge.
So I figured Why Not?

The story is great but the movie itself isn't executed well. It's obvious it's a low-budget independent movie. Shaky directing scenes, lack of props, costumes and scenery, film quality, etc. A previous reviewer compared this to Twilight & I think that description fits really well. The fighting scenes between the demons only looked supernatural in a couple of instances so there was definitely a suspension of disbelief involved that these high school kids were 400 year old powerful demons. That being said, I liked all the leads--especially the demon boys. The main ML surprised me; when I first saw him I didn't like his "look" but it grew it on me! He definitely rocked the traumatized demon prince part. The female character was not incredibly interesting so I didn't empathize with her too much and I really dislike the beaten-down-by-life-so-I-want-to-kill-myself element. She's so mousy...that is, until she's not--yay! Again, she's a Twilight/Bella type...not super interesting to me. I think the story needed to make her attraction more explicit so it would explain the introduction where she's constantly trapped in these aggressive and/or sexual situations with men/boys throughout her life. The implied gang rape scene made me really uncomfortable but it's out of the way within the first 10 minutes, so just suffer through it if you can. I wish there was more attraction/romance between the leads, too. I really wanted Kito to be more tortured by wanting/not-wanting Kanna and I think it would've made the underlying violence threaded in the story more palatable and symbolic.

I would say it's a campy horror romance type of story and if you channel your inner Twilight-twittering teenager and just understand that they probably made this on a shoestring budget, you'll enjoy it.

One morning, I was looking through my recommended videos on youtube and I saw a clip for Hanaoni 3. I watched it and was instantly intrigued. I am used to watching korean or chinese dramas and have been looking for something different, so when I saw the trailer for this japanese thriller movie, I had to watch it. Plus, I really wanted to watch the third movie so I had to start off this the first.

And I wasn't mad. The whole idea was very cool and I was sucked in instantly. I was a little confused too, but I just went with it and I wasn't disappointed. The only thing I wasn't super happy about is after watching all these dramas with strong female leads, we get Kanna. I guess you could debate that she was strong in her own way given her circumstances, but I felt like she had zero personality. But I guess you could also debate that Kaki was also the quiet type that kept to himself. I guess they are perfect for one another.

It was definitely one of those Twilight moments where you are like...why is everyone in love with Bella. Yes, Kanna had Kaki's mark which amplified everything, but it was hard for me to care about her. If she wasn't the main character, nothing about her would stand out

The beginning was off-putting but I'm glad I stuck around.

I don't know what it was that pulled me into watching this movie - because if I'm honest, the cover and information isn't very eye catching. But still, I guess there was something there, just not sure what. When I first started this movie, I wanted to cut it off. It made me so SO SO SO sick to my stomach, it was disgusting. But thankfully the worst part was over... I laugh as I say this because surely being taken and forced into a school with demons and being forced to marry a demon would be the worst... but compared to that start... you know what... It's all bad. Lol but good. I know I know... lol I promise I haven't lost my marbles. Hang in there.

I freaking hated Kaki. With a passion. Araki Hirofumi is a very beautiful man but I'm worried now I will only ever see him as asshole Kaki. It was to the point I wish I could jump through the TV and hit him with a iron skillet.
In that same breath I can say I didn't like Kanna either. The girl has ZERO fight in her. I would think you'd have SOME kind of reaction to fight your way out. But nope... she just keeps her head down and rolls with it. hgeiruhgeriuhr BRO! ARE YOU FOR REAL!?

It's crazy, they are both the main characters and I hate them both. Wanna know why I kept watching? I'll tell ya! IT WAS THE FREAKING FLOWER BOYS!!! Oh yes, I call them flower boys lol. Don't @ me! Reigi, Minaha, and Mitsuaki. The freaking guardians, bro. At this point I'm still like, can we just do away with Kaki and keep those three? They made the movie for me.

Don't come for me but wow the action in this movie was terrible but... BUUUUUTTTTTTT you end up being so into the movie you have the same reaction to if you were actually there and really seeing someone's face get kicked in.

You can tell this is a older movie the second you start watching it but lemme tell you it was so well done that you are so engrossed in it that you don't want to look away and honestly it's killing me to be there typing all of this when I could be on my happy way to watch the second movie. Best bet there will be a review for that one too.... I can only hope they didn't replace any of the actors. I hate when that happens X_X

I'm still excited so I know this review is a bit of a mess, but long story short... WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!

Demons Exist........

●I don’t even know why I watched this, maybe because of its cheesy synopsis, or was it maybe beauty and the beast feel. Well growing up watching Disney movies, we all imagine demons having horns, and fairies having wings. Since I have started watching Asian dramas depicting, all supernatural creatures like aliens, goblins, gumiho, grim reapers, etc as normal humans like us is excellent. But then this movie promised to show demons, and due to the Disney effect I made the mistake just as the FL of the movie, thinking the demons to be beastly creatures, but this breaks up the norm again with demons portrayed as human beings. It's just their tribe has different traditions and they live for a long time.

●The story was convincing, with all the creative absurd plot scripted together. as there are no female demons, to continue their tribe male demons trap human females to be their bride. attending schools together is the way to get to know each other and if romance doesn't blossom you are free to choose other demons or leave. there are all set of rules which the demons follow. The ending is poetic having a positive note. with two more movies with the same character, I wish if this movie ending is well explained.

●Kaki and Kanna are broken in family relationships growing up with complex characters and complicated life. kaki being the demon king had experienced painful events in past. while Kanna has a bad past, she is marked as a demon's bride.
This goes well with the supporting character indulging in their lives and giving variety and smoothness. The school backdrop was beautiful and the fighting scenes were funny. The music was earful and nice.

●Even though the movie was nonsense, it still gave a moment of relief from usual drama stories.
