Story: I'm a sucker for dramas about people aspiring to be a star and the road they go through to achieve it and of course with romance and comedy. So I naturally had to watch this. I loved the beginning but didn't like the direction it went towards the later episodes. I won't mention anything so I don't spoil it for anyone.

Acting/Cast: Again, I loved the cast! I love Chris, he has recently become one of my favourite actors from King Flowers. He was amazing! And he was amazing in this too! *little fan girl squeal* Was a bit iffy that they had their singing dubbed though. I also used to really like Kimi back when she debuted but was disappointed when she didn't appear in much dramas anymore until the recent years. So yes, I was thrilled to see her in this! She was a little too animated and bubbly in this, but by the end you could see her growth and maturity which is great! I was also quite surprised to hear her sing! She wasn't dubbed. However, in the last episode, they dubbed her with Jia Jia's singing - which was actually meant to be the singing voice for Nita. To me that was a fail. XD Also worth mentioning was Mami, she was so adorable and her singing was so sweet and innocent. Love her voice.

Music: The opening song by Ah Shin was amazing! I got chills every time I listen to it! I usually skip the opening and straight to the drama, but for this I listened to it every time! Love it! Also was never a big fan of Mayday but I've heard so much good songs from them! Really talented and awesome music!

Rewatch Value: I would skip through the episodes just to watch Chris!

Overall: Although this drama was not perfect it was still a great drama. Great start! Great end! Great acting! Great music! Great story! Best of all, there wasn't much dragging at all. I really enjoyed this one and would recommend it to everyone!

I'm not going to lie so I'm going to say that two of the biggest reasons for watching this drama at first was Chris Wu and the synopsis that involved music. Turns out that this one is probably one of the most decent and spectacular Taiwanese dramas I've seen up to date. Although what I just said may sound like I'm over exaggerating considering that the story of this drama is not something stunning, however the presentation of the story was off the charts. I think this drama did a great job of taking a typical story about people with big dreams and turning it into something that gives us the emotional feels inside.

Next, simply put, the acting of the cast was just so well done. Of course I adored Chris Wu's acting because I feel like every part of him could act. Kimi did a great job and didn't make me want to barf like some other T-drama leads. Yes at first, her character made me feel really vexed because it was too "over" but it made great developments as the drama went on. Nita and Mike did a decent job with their acting too. Actually, the supporting cast and staff were so awesome in this drama.

The music in this drama is freakin' mind-numbing. I don't think I've ever listed to an opening song so much from a Taiwanese drama in my life. You're the Only One by Mayday is now one of my favorite songs and will forever remain so. Now I started to take notice of Mayday ever since I found out that they were behind this song. The other songs from this drama such as the ending by Jia Jia is so nice to hear too. It is one of those slow songs that that I actually like listening to which is rare.

Even though this is a Chris Wu drama, this drama portrays a journey and it is very hard to capture those same feelings when watching this drama again.

Overall this drama got a lot of things right from the start. It is an all-round recommended T-drama to watch and will not bore the hell out of you.

I had very high expectations for this drama; I'm so glad it didn't fall flat. Again with my Chris Wu bias, I try to watch everything he stars in. After watching a few of his dramas, I liked his character in this the most, Zhou Shu Yu. The story itself is pretty underrated in my opinion; it's a story about going from the rock bottom and reaching the top with side stories, heartwarming friends, hardships/challenges, and the journey. It sounds cliche and boring but I loved experiencing their journey with them. I could feel their happiness, sadness, disappointments, all along with them. In the first three episodes, the drama focused on setting the scene, and I enjoyed the beginning episodes on Shu Yu's side, but Wei Zhen was obnoxious in the beginning. It's hard getting past the first three episodes, but stick past it!

Many dislike the female lead, Lin Wei Zhen, and to be honest I didn't like her that much either. Kimi is a great actress but she is seriously just too naive and clueless at times for me to really like her character; even at the end, where her character seemingly develops, I still think Zhou Shu Yu is completely carrying the relationship. I can't spoil it, but I do not like the ending. Don't worry, it's a happy ending, but I thought it was not satisfying. Zhou Shu Yu's character development captivated my attention. He changed the most throughout the drama, and watching his growth was an essential part of the drama. Chris Wu definitely excelled in his role.

The music was amazing. Being a show about the music industry, the music had to be great. Granted, the dubbing was a bit awkward at times, but I still loved the music by Mayday and Jia Jia. They really captured the emotions. Chris Wu also sings! I didn't know that. He sang in two scenes and I loved it!

I actually think the rewatch value is pretty high because although this drama portrays a journey, I would want to go through the journey again with them. And of course, if you love Chris Wu and Zhou Shu Yu, you would definitely want to see them again. I would have given this drama a 10 if it not for the ending. Of course, that is my personal preference. Don't miss out on this drama; it's a diamond in the rough.

It has been over a year since I watched a TDrama to completion. The TDrama industry has experienced a slump in the past year or so. Therefore, it is with much relief that I write this review. Rock 'n' Road somewhat restored my hope in TDrama. Hopefully, it will be the first of a series of good TDramas coming our way as we move into 2015.

Story: It is a simple story about a woman who was once a child star and a man who is the best music producer in the industry. The female lead plays a woman who is always positive and cheery. No matter what comes her way, she would smile and shrug her way through. Initially, her overly positive disposition was criticised by the male lead as he viewed her as being ignorant and stupid to the point of being taken advantaged of. Later, he realised that smiling and brushing negatives aside casually is her way of coping with losses in her life and he developed a respect for her. When he was betrayed by his best friend and rejected by his girlfriend of 8 years, the female lead stayed by his side cheering him on. He, in turned, staked his entire career on coaching the female lead into stardom again. They developed a comfortable friendship at first which quickly turned into romantic interest. What I like about this story is its simple and honest storyline executed in such a smooth and brilliant manner. Some reviewers have commented how the ending seemed rushed but considering it's relatively short duration (16 episodes is 'short' for TDrama), I feel that the ending was executed well. Viewers were not left in the lurch or an open ending. It was a concrete ending. This drama also featured some good kissing scenes... but then again, this is Chris Wu we are talking about. He's a very convincing kisser in all of his dramas.

Acting/Cast: Brilliant cast. No complains in this department. Unlike some reviewers who commented on how annoying the female character was; I did not find her character annoying at all. She played the sunny character well. As she slowly finds her footing again in the music industry, the female lead learned to stop hiding behind her smiles and nonchalant attitude and to take on rejections and challenges face on. As for Chris Wu.... need I say more?? The man's a seasoned actor. I'm glad he choose a good drama. I look forward to his future work.

Music: Well, this drama is set in the music industry where the male lead is the best music producer around. He started his journey as the guitarist and composer in a band he formed with his friends before shooting into stardom. What do you expect if not for great music? Excellent opening OST by Mayday and ending OST by Jia Jia. Mayday and Jia Jia seem to be doing most of the drama (and film) OSTs nowadays (including ones produced by China). Not that I am complaining... both Mayday and Jia Jia have brilliant voices....but it does make me wonder about other artists as well. Can we have some variety maybe??

Rewatch value: Pretty high in my books. TDramas nowadays run into past 20 episodes and it is not always that you get a good story packed into 16 episodes with nice pace, good character, story development and a concrete ending. Not to mention the wonderful kiss scenes. I have a few favourite scenes in this drama. I know many love episode 11 of this drama but besides episode 11, there are many nice scenes (and episodes) I would revisit soon.

Overall: A solid 9/10. To those of you who liked my past recommendations:- you will like this if your preference is anything like mine! Highly recommended.

I've been searching for a feel good Taiwanese drama for so long and I am so glad I was able to find this gem!

The plot didn't really attract me when I first read it but considering everyone mostly had good reviews I gave this a try and I can't really describe why I liked it so much but I did. The story moved along nicely for 16 episode. There are always going to be thing that I think were dragged on for longer than needed, it's the same for this drama, but I still enjoyed it a lot. With it being 16 episode, I felt the ending was weirdly rushed but it was still a really good ending! It was rushed but still somehow worked out without making you feel like there is still something missing.

Now the cast..Had to admit, I almost dropped this drama after the first episode. I couldn't stand Hsia Kimi's character at all. It was so over the top and immature I felt my hands cringing when her voice would get too high. That being said, I stuck it out and I can say her character gets so much better as the episodes go on. So if you get think about dropping, just stick through it! Her character starts maturing while still have that "natural innocence" and I liked her character by the time the drama ended.
Chris Wu. woooo. I can't lie, at first I just thought of his character as Hua Tuo Ye and was ehh about him but I seriously loved his character and his acting! His character didn't really change that much (change in a bad way I mean) So it's easy to say he gained another fan.
Supporting cast was great too. I loved the band members, the assistant, Wei Zhen's friends/supporters everyone fit their role perfectly whether it be a good or bad character.

Music was kind of weird. They dubbed the music over and it was really just awkward. But overall the music that was used was too good. I love Mayday! this was the only drama where I would sit through the opening just to listen to the song. The insert songs and ending theme are just as amazing.

Overall, such a nice drama. Not too many cliches or I guess delays in the plot. Will probably rewatch this again in the near future.

Love a Good Music Drama

I loved this drama. The music in this show was AMAZING! They used very talented Taiwanese singers and the quality was very noticeable. The main character was very likable, her nemesis was not- per usual. Chris and her chemistry was very apparently less than half way through and the amount of care he showed her was refreshing. The whole drama that happened to Chris later in the show to save her was very touching and he took that suffering like a champ for his girl. Also, the ending could've been better, that's why it didn't get a perfect 10 from me. If you want a good music drama with great music, amazing acting, and good character development- this is the one!

This drama was a straight up disappointment. It shouldn’t have been since the very beginning of the first episode and the very end of the last episode pretty much sum up Exactly What The Story Should Have Been About!

The leads had middling chemistry at best (although if the story had been better, their chemistry might have been better too), the story was just baaaaaad, and the side story was so infuriating it made you want to punch a puppy.

(No puppies were harmed in my viewing of this drama.)

The only truly good part was the big ol' Smacker our male leads lays on our female lead. That kiss was impressive. (If a little forceful.)

Save yourself the frustration and drive right on past this drama. The only rock you'll find here is the massive one lodged in your shoe.
