"Arthdal Chronicles" will officially return with a second season!

On February 21st several media outlets reported that "Arthdal Chronicles: Season 2" is officially in the works. It was also revealed that Jang Dong Gun will be making his return to the drama. Other cast members are still not finalized. 

Production company Studio Dragon confirmed the reports and stated that "Arthdal Chronicles: Season 2" will begin filming this year. They also revealed that the broadcasting station, casting, and more are still under discussion. 

However, officially, writers Kim Young Hyun and Park Sang Yeon will also write the second season. Director Kim Kwang Shik ("The Great Battle ") will be in charge of directing.

The first season "Arthdal Chronicles" with three parts revolved around heroes who are writing their stories as legends in the ancient land of "Arth." The drama was produced with billions of won budget. 

 "Arthdal Chronicles Season 2" aims to premiere in 2023.

For the first three-part season, Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Ok Bin, Kim Seung Cheol, Park Hae Joon, Jo Sung Ha, Choi Moo Sung, Park Byung Eun, Kim Eui Sung, Cho Byeong Kyu, and more led the drama. For the upcoming new season, many are already anticipating which among the actors will return to the drama and who will be the new actors that will be added to the lineup. 

The first season of "Arthdal Chronicles" had 6 episodes per part. The series aired both on tvN and the global OTT platform Netflix. It aired from June 1st 2019, until September 22nd 2019. In February 2020, it was confirmed that there will be a second season of the drama. 

Jang Dong Gun will possibly return to the second season. The actor hasn't starred in any dramas since the first season and he has no other commitments as of now. 

Song Joong Ki on the other hand is busy this year filming for the upcoming drama "The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate" and his movie "Bogotá: City of the Lost." 

Kim Ji Won is currently focusing on her upcoming drama "My Liberation Diary" which will air this April. After this drama, the actress doesn't have any projects lineup at the moment.
