Why I started watching FINAL CUT? Plain and simple - Kame. I have been waiting for this drama with anticipation since it was announced.  I even reserved the revenge category for this on my Watch Challenge form.   How could I resist Kame (well his stunt double) doing low key parkour?   Kame actually broke his finger or hand while filming this series.

(Cool, right?)

Spoiler-Free Synopsis

A man's mother was accused by the media of killing a child whom was in her care at the day care she ran by herself.  The cops did not have absolute proof, but because of the media her neighbors and friends began to judge her based on the show.  She was harassed by media at work and at home with no break.

Finally the pressure got to be too much and she took her own life.  This all occurred 12 years ago and her son is out for revenge against the media show that killed his mother. He and his partner Daichi run a website to help other people who have had troubles because of this program, Premiere Wide.

What Hit Me While Watching This

This new Kamenashi we got to see glimpses of seems to build off of his acting range in Joker game and Kaitou Tantei Yamaneko. He plays multiple characters to get into places and create relationships to further his revenge plot. They seem to be letting him add bits of himself to this, it feels more natural.  Also watch the other actors in his crying scenes, they are tearing up too.

The script so far (I am watching episode 6 as soon as I am done writing this) is smart and well done.  You see his resolve change as he realizes he is hurting some people to get his revenge.

The opposition is smart, and while lackey's fall at the force of Nakamura Keisuke's revenge tactic, he soon finds someone he cannot sway, and uses Keisuke's  methods for his own gains.

There is a love story, but it is secondary and seems accidental, not sure where they are going with it, but its not the same as every other drama.

Why You Should Stop What You Are Doing and
Watch This As Soon As You Can

I worded it like that because it is not English subbed yet and I am watching it raw.  I feel as it is going to be one of Kame's best to date,  depending on what they do with the next 5 or 6 episodes.  The mystery is not easily solved and is multi-layered.  I think and this is only speculation it may be another lesson in "Those who seek revenge must first dig two graves".  I could be wrong.

Plus there's this:

On a side note though, younger Kame is a bit jarring since we know what he looked like back in the day. And be warned gone are the days of them CGIing the snot away when he cries like he did in Gokusen.
