Ji Chang Wook Makes a Bold Transformation in "Revolver"
The South Korean entertainment company Plus M Entertainment announced on October 16 that the upcoming K-movie 12.12: The Day has been confirmed to be released on November 22. The production team also released a poster and a teaser.
12.12: The Day depicts the nine intense hours of the emergency to prevent the rebellion of the new military regime that occurred in Seoul on December 12, 1979. It is the first Korean film based on the subject of the 12.12 military rebellion.
In the K-movie, the veteran movie actor Hwang Jung Min (The Spy Gone North, Hostage: Missing Celebrity, Hunt, The Point Men) plays the role of Republic Of Korea Army Major General Chun Doo Kwang, a key figure in the new military regime, while the multi-talented Jung Woo Sung (Steel Rain, Hunt) portrays Lee Tae Shin, the commander of the Capital Security Command who stood alone to defend the country against the new military insurrection.
In addition, veteran actor Lee Sung Min (Reborn Rich, Juvenile Justice) plays the role of Republic Of Korea Army Chief of Staff Jeong Sang Ho, the proficient actor Park Hae Joon (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun, Emergency Declaration) is the commanding general of 9th Infantry Division No Tae Geon, and adept Kim Sung Kyun (Moving, Weak Hero Class 1, D.P.) plays the role of the military police officer Kim Jun Yeop.
Contrary to the Korean title 서울의 봄 (translating to "Spring of Seoul"), symbolizing the hope that winds of democratization would blow after the end of the military dictatorship following the October 26 incident, the two posters depict the tense situation of the night of December 12, 1979.
Whereas, the teaser features the central character of the 12.12 military rebellion, Chun Doo Kwang (Hwang Jung Min), showcasing his intense presence.
