SBS reveals the drama lineup for the second half of 2021.
SBS led the drama scene among all channels with overwhelming ratings in the first half of this year. During the first half of 2021 (January 1 to June 30), SBS dramas took the first spot in ratings. They recorded 13.5 percent of average household ratings. This has once again proved that SBS dramas can be trusted. Last year, they also recorded an average household audience rating of 10.59 percent.
Following their strong performance in the first half of the year, SBS is expected to continue the momentum by releasing an even stronger drama lineup in the second half. The dramas that will air in the remaining year will have a variety of genres that will attract more viewers. Here are the upcoming SBS dramas in the second half of 2021:
"Lovers of the Red Sky"
The upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama "Lovers of the Red Sky" will be led by Kim Yoo Jung, Ahn Hyo Seop, and Gong Myung. The drama will revolve around a female painter Hong Chun Gi who falls in love with a blind man, Ha Ram. It will be directed by Jang Tae Yoo ("Hyena") and written by Kim Young Young ("Be Melodramatic").
"One The Woman"
"One the Woman" will depict the story of two women who look exactly the same but with different views in life. One is a corrupt female prosecutor while the other is an upright and modest daughter-in-law of a chaebol. It will be a Friday-Saturday drama and the main leads include Lee Ha Nee, Lee Sang Yoon, Lee Won Keun, and Jin Seo Yun. The romantic comedy-drama will be the collaboration work of director Choi Young Hoon and writer Kim Yoon.
"Those Who Read Hearts of Evil"
Upcoming drama "Those Who Read Hearts of Evil" will be Kim Nam Gil's return to the small screen after 2 years. He will be the main lead for the upcoming novel-based drama together with Jin Seon Kyu and Kim So Jin.
"Now, We Are Breaking Up"
One of the most anticipated SBS dramas is "Now, We Are Breaking Up" starring Song Hye Kyo, Jang Ki Yong, Choi Hee Seo, and Kim Joo Heon. This will be Song Hye Kyo's comeback drama since 2018's "Encounter", and many are already curious about her chemistry with younger actor Jang Ki Yong. The romantic drama will be directed by the man behind "Dr. Romantic 2", Lee Gil Bok.
"Us That Year"
Last but not least is the reunion drama of Choi Woo Shik and Kim Da Mi titled "Us That Year". It will be directed by Kim Yoon Jin and written by Lee Na Eun. It will showcase the ex-lovers who were forced to reunite because of a project. Actor Kim Sung Chul is also in talks to join the upcoming drama.
