Hit SBS drama "Taxi Driver" will possibly have a second season next year!
Several media outlets reported on July 7th that the production of "Taxi Driver 2" is currently in the works and will possibly air during 2022. Some of the actors of the first season of "Taxi Driver" have already been informed and they are now in discussion about their appearance.
SBS responded to the reports about the second season and the network shared that they are currently checking on the time and schedule but specific details are not yet confirmed.
"Taxi Driver" premiered on April 2021 with main leads Lee Je Hoon, Esom, Kim Eui Sung, Pyo Ye Ji, Cha Ji Yeon, Bae Yoo Ram, and Jang Hyuk Jin. The drama was well received by the viewers and for its finale episode, it garnered 10.9 percent and 15.3 percent ratings for its two parts. The drama also achieved 18 percent at its most-watched minute.
The drama was also hailed as the fourth-highest ratings of any Friday-Saturday drama in SBS history. The drama became fourth place after “The Penthouse 2: War in Life,” “The Fiery Priest,” and “Hot Stove League.”
After the finale of the drama, main lead Lee Je Hoon also shared his hopes to have a second season of "Taxi Driver".
The story of "Taxi Driver" was depicted from the webtoon of the same name by Carlos and Keukeu Jae Jin. The drama was helmed by Park Joon Woo who also helmed "Doctor Detective." The script was penned by scriptwriters Oh Sang Ho and Lee Ji Hyun. It showcased the doings of the taxi service named Rainbow Taxi Company and driver Kim Do Gi. The taxi company avenges on behalf of victims that cannot get justice from the law.
