I lug my body around that feels like it weighs tens of thousands of pounds and I am going to my workplace, which I hate.

He writes with an expression on his face that is beyond anxiety. It is resigned.

Park Dong Hoon, Lee Ji An’s “Ajusshi” in MY AJUSSHI, played by Lee Sun Gyun, whose matchless performance in the drama along with the unending poignant scenes and occasional heart-rending dialogues, is bound to blow away the minds of any watcher.

Lee Sun Gyun successfully upgrades Park Dong Hoon from Ji An’s “Ajusshi” to every fan’s “Ajusshi” with his brilliant portrayal of a kind yet pitiful man who seems to live only for the people he loves, his pain filling our hearts with warm ache.

Our Ajusshi feels so real that we forget he is just a well-written character.

Korean drama watchers with more than a few dramas on their watch-list must know how difficult it is for even the best actors to get roles that are different from their masterpieces, especially when involved in such sensational dramas without a known flaw. And yet-

Sun Gyun has managed to score a completely different role in the new 2019-20 prosecutor drama,

DIARY OF A PROSECUTOR”

The first few episodes introduce a great ensemble of characters including Sun Gyun playing a somewhat clumsy prosecutor, Lee Sun Woong and a promise of enough comedy to get an expectant audience.

Lee Sun Woong appears to be slow, insecure and definitely much more talkative and less loyal than our earlier discussed Park Dong Hoon, his seemingly perfect alter ego. Sun Woong’s chemistry with his coworkers in DIARY OF A PROSECUTOR brings out the fun side that Dong Hoon did not have, despite which Lee Sun Gyun manages to show off his epic acting skills, once more.

The first episode was all we needed to get hooked and we hope that the coziness it exudes will give way to a notable realistic prosecutor drama.

What is funnier is that we have an apparent rival of Sun Woong, Cha Myung Joo played by Jeong Ryeo Won who has acted remarkably as a strong, no-nonsense prosecutor before in the drama, WITCH AT COURT, increasing our expectations by a huge margin.

Reserve your excitement for Mondays and Tuesdays and get moving with Lee Sun Woong in JTBC’s record-breaking new drama DIARY OF A PROSECUTOR!
