"The Axe", Led by Son Ye Jin and Lee Byung Hun, Confirms Casting

The Axe has confirmed the casting of Lee Byung Hun, Son Ye Jin, Park Hee Soon, Lee Sung Min, Yeom Hye Ran, Cha Seung Won, and Yoo Yeon Seok. It has also been officially announced that filming will begin on August 17. 

The Axe tells the story of Yoo Man Soo, an office worker who felt that his life was satisfactory enough to think 'I've made it.' But after being suddenly laid off, he strives to protect his wife and two children and to keep the house he had worked hard to purchase, all while striving for reemployment. 

Lee Byung Hun takes on the role of Man Soo, the head of a family with a beloved wife and two children. After being fired from the paper company where he had worked for 25 years, Man Soo becomes desperate and a kind of madness overtakes him, pushing him to the brink as he struggles for reemployment.

Son Ye Jin plays Man Soo's wife, Mi Ri, a versatile and bright character, who steps up to protect her family after her husband's unexpected unemployment.

Park Hee Soon will play Choi Seon Chul, a foreman at a successful paper company. Lee Sung Min will portray Gu Beom Mo, a veteran in the paper industry who is now in the same position as Man Soo, looking for a job. Yeom Hye Ran joins as Beom Mo's wife, Ae Ra.

Cha Seung Won will play Go Si Jo, another rival of Man Soo, and Yoo Yeon Seok joins as Oh Jin Ho, a dentist where Mi Ri works.

The K-movie is a remake of the French-Spanish-Belgian movie The Axe.
