The upcoming SBS historical romance K-drama Return to the Palace confirmed its main leads.
On July 19, SBS officially shared that BTOB's Yook Sung Jae, WJSN's Bona, and Kim Ji Hoon will lead the upcoming K-drama. It was also stated that actor Kim Young Kwang will make a special cameo appearance in the series.
Return to the Palace is a fantasy romance K-drama that revolves around the eight ghosts who have a grudge against the King and a shaman who will fight against him.
It will be the collaboration work of director Yoon Sung Shik (Mr. Queen) and writer Yoon Soo Jung (Sassy Go Go).
Return to the Palace will air in 2025. It will exclusively air on SBS and be part of their Monday and Tuesday K-drama timeslot.
Yook Sung Jae will portray the role of Yoon Gab, who is the first love of the shaman. He wants to protect the palace from the eight ghosts that cause chaos. He is a wicked man who wants to ascend to heaven using his body. This will be the grand comeback of Yook Sung Jae to the K-drama scene after three years. He was last seen in the 2022 K-drama The Golden Spoon.
Bona (Kim Ji Yeon) will portray the role of Yeo Ri, a shaman. She is the granddaughter of a famous shaman. Her life changed after getting intertwined with Imugi, who did not turn into a dragon. This will be the first official K-drama project of Bona for 2025. This year, she led the hit series Pyramid Game.
Kim Ji Hoon on the other hand will portray the role of King Lee Sung. He wants a stronger nation so he decides to confront the eight ghosts. He will try to unveil the secret surrounding the ghosts. This will be his follow-up K-drama project after Death's Game Part 2 with Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Nam Kyung Eup, Go Youn Jung, and Kim Mi Kyung.
