TV Chosun unveils official cast lineup for the upcoming drama "Uncle"

On May 18th,  Oh Jung Se, Jeon Hye Jin, Park Sun Young, Lee Sang Woo, and Hwang Woo Seul Hye announced that they have confirmed offers to join the upcoming series. The upcoming drama will be directed by Ji Young Soo ("Room No. 9,” “Falling for Innocence,” and "My Fair Lady") while the script will be written by Park Ji Sook ("The Spring Day of My Life,” “The Road Home,” and "You Stole My Heart"). 

"Uncle" will be based from the BBC sitcom of the same name. The story will revolve around a recently unemployed uncle and his 12 year old nephew. The uncle will be the sole guardian of the kid who is discriminated for his social status in the cruel world.

Oh Jung Se will play the role of Wang Joon Hyuk, a loser musician, who becomes a guardian to his pediatric OCD nephew. The child was his sister’s, who suddenly appeared after going through a rough divorce. Aside from "Uncle,” Oh Jung Se will also take part in the upcoming dramas namely, "The Good Detective 2" with Son Hyun Joo and Jang Seung Jo, "Cliffhanger" with Joo Ji Hoon and Jun Ji Hyun.

Jeon Hye Jin will play as Oh Jung Se's sister named Wang Joon Hee. She decided to leave his violent husband after 12 years of marriage. She last appeared in the second season of "Stranger 2" with Jo Seung Woo and Bae Doo Na.

Park Sun Young will portray the character of Park Hye Ryeong, the chairman of a Mom Cafe in Royal State. She made a special appearance in the 2020 drama "Zombie Detective.”

Lee Sang Woo was cast for the role of Joo Kyung Il. He lives in Royal State and raises her daughter alone after the death of his wife. Lee Sang Woo last appeared in his wife's drama "The Penthouse 2: War in Life" as a cameo. 

Lastly, Hwang Woo Seul Hye will play as Kim Yoo Ra, the assistant of Park Sun Young's character. She last starred in the drama "Crash Landing on You".

"Uncle" is set to air in the second half of the year.
