The first-ever K-drama directed by director Han Jae Rim is confirmed to premiere on an OTT platform.

On December 12, global OTT platform Netflix announced that The 8 Show (formerly labeled as Money Game) will be released through them and it will be available to 190 countries all over the world. They also revealed the official cast lineup of the upcoming thriller mystery K-drama. 

Netflix revealed that The 8 Show will be led by Ryu Joon Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Park Hae Joon, Bae Sung Woo, Moon Jung Hee, and more. 

The 8 Show will tell the story of eight individuals who are short on money. They got invited to a reality-variety show called Money Game. The rule is to stay at the studio with nothing but concrete walls and try to survive for 100 days. After 100 days, the individuals can divide the prize equally. But everything they spend on necessities that are 1,000 times pricier than normal will be deducted from the winning prize. The upcoming K-drama will base its story on the webtoon of the same name created by Bae Jin Soo.

This upcoming series will be the first-ever K-drama project of renowned director Han Jae Rim. The director is known for creating the masterpieces Emergency Declaration, The King, The Face Reader, and more.  

According to reports, The 8 Show will premiere on Netflix next year. The upcoming K-drama will have a total of 8 episodes. 

This will be the reunion project of Ryu Jun Yeol with director Han Jae Rim. The two previously worked together through the 2017 film The King. Ryu Joon Yeol will portray the character named Jin Soo. 

Chun Woo Hee will portray the role of Se Ra. This will be her first-ever Netflix original K-drama. The actress is also set to lead the upcoming K-drama Although I Am Not a Hero with Jang Ki Yong.

Park Jung Min will portray the role of Philip in the series. This will be his second Netflix original K-drama since his debut. He also starred in the hit 2021 Netflix series Hellbound.

Park Hae Joon will return to Netflix with The 8 Show. The actor will also star in the new K-drama You Have Done Well.

Meanwhile, this will possibly be the comeback project of actor Bae Sung Woo after his drunk driving issue.
