Yeah, I don’t know if it’s available for every country and also I don’t know how many people can enter one room and how our internet is taking this. But yeah we’ll just have to try it out. Bear with me. :) If it works that would be totally awesome.

I don’t know much about it, too. I was just trying to figure something out to watch together and that platform looked the easiest for me. There’s also Twitch but I habe seriously no idea how to stream on Twitch. xD
Yeah, I also feel kinda depressed now with knowing that there is no new episode coming. But I’m glad we’re doing the rewatch. :)
Hi all!
I'm going to cheat, this week, and post early as I remembered that I'll have to be on my way to an appointment at our agreed viewing time. I just finished rewatching the first episode and I look forward to seeing what other people have to share, when I get back home.
At 20, Tian is already jaded and thrill-seeking due to living in a gilded world of money and influence. He clearly sees how his family's position was able to provide him with a literal second chance at life. This actually serves to stir his discontent with his easy life and has no small part in crafting his headstrong nature. We see how impulsive he can be and how he doesn't give much thought into the possible ramifications of his actions.
In finding out Torfuns' identity and reading her journal to gain insight into her life, his eyes are opened to the very different ways others live their lives and, I think, feels his own life is lacking in substance and meaning. He states that his good fortune came at the expense of someone else's misfortune, and we see the seeds of his perceived obligation begin to take root. That and his desire to search for something more, compels him to leave his life of comfort on a quest for meaning.
By reading her journal, Tian also discovers that it was important to Torfun to count 1000 stars from Pha Pun Dao Hill on the last day of the year.
We're also introduced to Phupha: a man dedicated to his duty and to those he cares for, including Torfun. He sneers at the notion that money was able to allow the person who killed Torfun, even if accidentally, to escape consequence. We also see just how stringent he can be in saying that he'd never forgive the person who ran Torfun down.
I love it when Tian and Yod are walking to the village and Yod is describing Phupha to Tian. It leads Tian to ask: “So is he stern or kind, exactly?” Yod gives a chuckle and replies: “You'll find that out soon.”
From the start, I was impressed with Mix's ability to act. He's utterly convincing as Tian and the way he looks around at the home he's about to leave behind speaks volumes about seeing his life as it has been and his desire for more. Earth, though, shows himself to be the master of expression in the look he gives Tian on their meeting. His initial severity is utterly transformed as he looks at Tian with something approaching wonder. Tian's gaze back comes from seeing the man in his vision right in front of him. This scene also underscores Tian's continued delicacy as the recipient of a heart transplant, albeit 5 months later.
Of course, the last scene sets the tone for Phu and Tian's dynamic right away and does it very well! (Of course, I chalk up part of that to Phupha overcompensating after being gobsmacked by Tian's cuteness, in the first place: LOL!)
Things I noticed on second watch, that I don't recall seeing the first time around:
-- Tian the playboy is considerably better looking than Tian the volunteer teacher. (Is it just his fancy clothes?) I liked Mix's acting in this first ep a lot -- he portrayed a lot of different emotions and pensive moments quite well.
-- Tian's father's influence enabled Tian to "jump the queue" (presumably to receive a new heart). I will be watching to see if that enters into the story again later ('coz I don't remember it being much of an issue -- but presumably that means that someone at the back of the queue died for lack of a new heart.)
-- Ton Jakkrit Ammarat played a very believable father role, I think. There's a nice moment when Tian tells him to remember to take his medicine! But the father is not exactly a sympathetic character, though. There is clearly some socio-political commentary embedded in the depictions of Tian's father (a modestly-paid civil servant who has somehow managed to amass tons of money) and his business dealings (securing 20 acres of land inside the Khao Yai national park so that one of his buddies can build a hotel.) Foreigners may not know what Khao Yai is, but Thai viewers -- used to reading of land scandals by various influential people -- surely did.
-- There's a scene of Phu, Dr. Nam and one member of the squad paying their respects at Torfun's funeral. That means they all knew she was dead, and later, when it turns out the villagers have not been told, they all share in the responsibility for that. I will be watching to see if that comes out, later.
-- Interesting line when Tian is with his friends in the bar. He complains that his parents sold off his car without telling him. (Now, we know why they disposed of the car.) A couple of Tian's friends quickly interject "oh but they were right to sell it", with no explanation. So his friends knew that the car was in a fatal accident and nobody told Tian???? Not believable.
-- Interesting that the director (and team) thought that most Thais would not understand the Lanna dialect, and so put in Thai-script subtitles whenever Yod spoke -- but Tian (the pampered child of the Bangkok mandarinate) understands him just fine.
-- I forgot that Tian fainted into Phu's arms the first time they caught sight of each other. Just a bit cheesy, IMHO.
- Wow isn't it so tragic that Torfun died because her picture of Phupha flew onto the street and she couldn't let it fly away? Of course the car is the main cause here but still.. so tragic.
- I heard the intro song a million times but I still love it and never skip it
- Doesn't Phupha look dashing in Tians dream while he was in surgery?
- LOL when he asked his girl friend in the club if she wants to touch his wound I legit thought he was flirting at first :D Like ''Hell no isn't this a BL?''
- Not Tian lying like crazy that he was Torfun's boyfriend to go through her stuff. I think that scene is kinda weird, my aunt wouldv'e kicked him out immediately and wouldv'e told him that he is disrespectful :D
- I can't imagine how it must feel to get a heart transplant and live with the fact that someone else died instead. I understand Tians struggle here.
- Tian walking those 3 kilometers after having a heart transplant not too long ago - my anxiety is rising, Tian fainting - my anxiety is at it's peak
- Love the soft instrumental version of the intro OST in the background when Phupha is holding Tian ♥
- Btw Tian wears many different outfits in the first episode like the striped shirt, pajamas a suit and he looks dashing in all of them
- The extra scene: Love the bickering between Phupha and Tian and the music in the back makes it even more funny :D
Ahh that was nice. Can't wait to watch episode 2!

This is interesting. Tian's family looks quite affluent. I thought he would be more than modestly paid, given that he has a Ministerial position. I didn't know Khoi Yai is a national park. Interesting socio-political commentary, indeed...
BraveAppointment1:-- Interesting that the director (and team) thought that most Thais would not understand the Lanna dialect, and so put in Thai-script subtitles whenever Yod spoke -- but Tian (the pampered child of the Bangkok mandarinate) understands him just fine.
This seems on par with characters speaking Lanna in Thai series, because most Central speakers don't understand. Does anyone know if Tian's family has northern roots in the book? That may be why he understands...

I don't know that I find it unbelievable. Tul mention to Tian on the phone that Tian had all but disappeared from his social circle. His friends could also not want to delve into it for other reasaons. They did look uncomfortable.
kpoptrash:- Not Tian lying like crazy that he was Torfun's boyfriend to go through her stuff. I think that scene is kinda weird, my aunt wouldv'e kicked him out immediately and wouldv'e told him that he is disrespectful :D
They'd already set the auntie up as being a gambler who used the money Torfun sent her for gambling, so I'm more surprised that she didn't demand a few Baht for the book, more than anything; LOL!
kpoptrash:- The extra scene: Love the bickering between Phupha and Tian and the music in the back makes it even more funny :D
Like I said, it sets the tone of their dynamic very nicely from almost the get-go. What I especially like, is that the scene was proceeded by both of them clearly struck by one another before Tian passed and and how Phupha was there like a shot to catch him. Wasn't Yod actually closer to Tian, in that moment? ;)
BraveAppointment1:-- There's a scene of Phu, Dr. Nam and one member of the squad paying their respects at Torfun's funeral. Potential Spoiler below. Place pointer on area to reveal:
I remembered that from the first time around. Something related to it will come up soon in the storyline.
*Forgive English and grammar. It's not my first language.
Just finished episode 1 after a full week of bingeing EarthMixx contents (SOMEBODY HELP! I'm neck deep obsessed and can't get over them lol).
This episode hooked me to the series. I'm actually an infant in the BL world and was late to the party. In fact, I had no idea what 1000 Stars is all about, didn't know it suffered delayed production, unfamiliar with the story, that it was adopted from a novel and with the exception of Drake, I didn't know who the actors were. By the time, I gave it a go, 3 episodes were released already which i binged watch it one sitting.
I consider myself lucky because I had no expectations and was blown away in the end. That's how strong episode 1 was for me.
Rewatching it again today gave me a clearer picture of why I fell in love with it in the first place.
ATOTS did an incredible job in introducing the characters.
Mixx as Tian is a standout. For a first time actor in a lead, he made it look so effortless and didn't seem like he was trying hard at all. I like his character right away and can easily sympathize with him. The series made it clear that this was to be about his journey in finding a deeper meaning to his existence. He was probably lonely being sheltered all his life. Despite his happy -go-lucky party boy façade, Tian is actually smart. I was impressed by how fast he can think on his feet evidently when his father caught him in the study or when he was talking to Torfun's aunt. (he'll demonstrate this multiple times as the series progress).
Aye as Torfun is a very likeable character. She's very charming and gorgeous I warmed up to her right away. I remember being shocked when she was hit by that car because I thought she was a lead character (I didn't watch the trailer so I had no idea). First scene, I already felt sorry for her for having a horrible aunt (why was she supporting her anyway?) so for her next scene to die was a bit too much.
Earth as Chief Phupha is leading man material. He's very handsome, noble and a badass, completely dedicated to his work, I can't blame Torfun for falling for him. It made me watch some of his earlier works before 1000 Stars and Earth has come a long way. His smiles can easily melt hearts and those eyes are so effortlessly expressive.
The 3 main casts were perfect. The series was also solidified by strong supporting roles. Tian's parents were very convincing, Torfun's aunt (despite very small part) was annoyingly selfish and Tul compliments Tian as his bestfriend.
Some memorable scenes for me:
-The one in the in between (or was it dreamlike) where Torfun told Tian to take care of her heart gave me goosebumps. Then I got lost staring at Earth's dreamy eyes next lol. That was beautifully shot but I thought the series will have a supernatural element.
-The interchanging scenes of Tian and Torfun's lives where he was shown partying and she finding happiness in the village was deeply moving. Kudos to how perfect that was executed. At that point, I understood that Tian was clearly lost. His life was empty, he didn't make any plans because he didn't think he'd survive. His second life brought an existential crisis. What's next? To read Torfun's diary and realizing how meaningful and happy her life was before it was tragically cut short only reinforced Tian's resolve to follow her path.
-Tian and Chief Phupha's first meeting. It was dramatic but tastefully done. Come on, you made him walk 3 kilometers with a still faint heart adjusting to his body. Of course he had to faint lol.
-The musical score of this series is chef's kiss. Wow at the amount of dedication and hard work in inserting it in scenes to make the most emotional impact.
I enjoyed reading appreciation to 1000 Stars from our little community. So keep those post coming as it definitely helps overcome the sadness now that it's ended.
