Historical C-Drama question

Hi,

Is it true that many if not nearly all historical c-dramas (or at least the recent ones) have sad endings?

If its fictional generally they are happier if non-fiction and based on true events then majority are sad. Chinese history (as well as others) wasn't the happiest of times.
