@eliteles1 She is in her splendor, 2024 is consolidated as a return to deserved success in a resounding way. Given the success of The Double and now KMLM, her schedule shouldn't have any more space.

@Regina de Sá The same goes for Liu Xue Yi, who is used to having so many supporting characters, I think about 16 (who always shine), but... supporting characters. Time was running out for him to shine as he always deserved. Thank goodness I can now see him in a more prominent place in the drama's plot, and I can appreciate his presence in the drama much more.
As for Wu Jin Yian, this is my first drama watching her. And I think the choice was perfect, and this fictional main couple really shines. It couldn't be any other actress, no way.- PS:
This is the second extremely strong female character being the partner in Liu Xue Yi's drama. First it was Peng Xaoran in Unshakable Faith. And now: Kill me love me. (And he's always the soft, strong, but gentle hero who lets the woman shine by his side). Oh, and he's protected there by her too.
@eliteles1 LXY is perfect for the role, he combines virility with delicacy, his facial features are delicate. It bears traces of Botticelli. There is in him the ivory beauty of a Greek god. I hadn't seen his performance yet, he's charismatic, acts with subtlety and a lot of spontaneity.
I highly recommend watching The Double: WJY is simply magnificent, a masterful performance. I hope you'll watch it!

After so many people commenting on The Double, here on the page, I'll find some time later to watch it (it doesn't seem like the simple drama of hate, love and distrust until the end, and the mere charm of chasing each other, it seems like there is something more consistent in this story, from what I understand here).

If there's one rule in Cdrama land, it's to never trust the trailers.
The show always looks darker and more intense than it ends up being. Eveeeerrrry damn time. I'm still pissed off about the pre-release materials of Unchained Love lmao.
I am really happy with the Mei Lin we got. I would have been annoyed with her if she spent most of the episodes trying to kill the wrong person. Also she has constantly used her skills, they wouldn’t have survived the snow without her vigilantly looking out for danger only sleeping when they were safe.
Drama Tea
I have given up understanding why, really. tbh some people just want a drama to fit their expectations and when it doesn't they bail. fair enough. I prefer to take a drama on its own terms and see what they offer. to me I love almost everything about it. I don't care if it strikes my trope fancy - I love that it's such a good production, with good actors (Liu Xueyi is outstanding) and the story pretty tight. is it perfect? of course not, but it's giving me joy.Exactly!!!
I felt like I had to say something because, while the show might not be perfect at every moment, Mei Lin has been the most consistent character in this show. Her core personality/ character element has stayed the same since episode 1.
But yet people have bad things to say. People are still not satisfied ?
I think people might be getting frustrated because of the 1 episode a day schedule. So they are judging each episode as a stnad alone instead of a small part that makes up a whole.
Lol everyone is a TV critic nowadays and it's getting tiring... can't we just enjoy a show just because???...?@mmansaray35 Some people are criticizing the characters and the show, but then you turn around and call out others for their opinions. Aren't you just one of those critics too? its really tiring... LOL
We may have different perspectives, and I respect yours and my exist as well.
Now, does killing someone necessarily make someone cruel or destroy their innocence? Not always. It's often the training and the circumstances that shape a person into becoming hard, emotionless, or even cruel. Think about assassins, military personnel, and agents—they are trained not to let emotions interfere with their missions, even if their loved ones are at gunpoint. It’s not about cruelty but about conditioning and survival.
agree to 2nd point
Yes we know they will fall in love but it didn't happen too smoothly and quickly?
The character has a soft side, which is fine, but why does she need to expose her weaknesses to the world? It could have been handled with more subtlety, revealing her vulnerabilities only when necessary.
As for the show itself, whether people speak, bit by bit or entire show, positively or negatively about it, the important thing is that they are talking. This means the show is engaging the audience on some level, and that is an achievement in itself.
What's most disappointing is that, despite her role as an assassin, we haven't seen her in a truly great fight scene yet. With her character's background, you'd expect intense, skillful combat, but the action has fallen short so far.
In my opinion, for a decent romantic storyline, it's a good show. However, if you’re looking for deep political intrigue, revenge, Angst romance or complex conspiracies, this drama might not fulfill those expectations.
@eliteles1 It's a masterpiece. It'll be a mark in your life. On the 28th of October, MDL will publish an article I wrote (it is signed together with one of the MDL editors, I will give details on the 28th) about The Double from the point of view of all the artistic languages present in the work. The Double brings together a set of aesthetic concepts articulated with perfection. It is an anthological series in the cinematographic history of cdramas. Below, I placed the link to the Discussions section of The Double with several topics. There are texts from me, from @TaliaToo, @Unbeliebbuble and other friends with whom you interact here and vice versa. If you're interested, take a look, but be careful because there are topics with spoilers.

Thank you! I will definitely read your observations and comments about The Double (but I prefer to read them when I'm watching the drama). I know that I will be enriched and will understand the plot much better. Thank you!
Episodes 20 and 21 (today) - The drawings are two swords (the brothers are going to duel), I saw a BTS of this fight and in the trailer the blood on Jing He's mouth looks like the Joker.
Episode 22 - The drawing is blood and the hair pendant (I think here Mei Lin discovers who Jing He is, the master.) and the line from the trailer: Jing He says: "This was all just pretense., an act".
I think episode 23 (maybe one of the cups has the substance Yue Qin mentioned episodes ago that makes a person look dead). Just a thought. (Or a marriage agreement with someone). I don't know. (But one cup is fallen, dropped). Or the old emperor's poisoning is complete.

Here at 2:46 I think it's the last scene of the drama (it was the last one filmed), but I think it's the last scene of the drama.(my prediction).
PS:
And see what the director says: "The negative becomes positive, I like this concept".
PS:
And Wu Jin Yan's comment (it's a different kind of emotional message).
Will she forgive him when she finds out ? Or will she go with the other CP ? How upset would she be

Besides this fact shown in the photo, I think (from what I read in the book), that there will be a Helen of Troy arc. (and there will be scenes of jealousy, he dressed in a moss green cape and his hair tied up). https://mydramalist.com/photos/kAENXk_3 At that moment Yue Qin will be getting in their way.
and by another photo, which shows Yue Qin on a horse as if in a war and Jing He on another horse as if in a war. (The book mentions the enmity between two nations).

The white horse has been one of the most worshiped symbols throughout Asia, including China, for millennia, an example of which is the White Horse Temple (白馬寺) , in Luoyang Henan, China, first Chinese Buddhist temple, built in 68 AD. Several legends explain the presence of the white horse in this temple. There are numerous paintings from various Asian countries depicting the white horse. In the context of religion, the white horse is linked to Buddha and represents the transition from his worldly life to his spiritual life. This relationship occurs because Buddha, still in the status of Siddhartha, fled the Palace on his white horse Kanthaka, abandoning everything, to live the spiritual life that led him to Enlightenment. There are countless paintings depicting Buddha and Kanthaka. Although the body that was there was not MJH's, there was a real dead person and the symbolic representation of the white horse in a rite does not discriminate against any individual. It is not, therefore, a mere fantasy scene, even though the Xianxia genre also encompasses Buddhism, but a supernatural manifestation linked to a concrete belief. Below, the links about the White Horse Temple and Kanthaka.
PS: Buddhism was introduced to China in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. Tradition attributes the introduction to Emperor Ming of Han, the second emperor of the Eastern Han dynasty (25-220AD), who would have seen a golden flying being and interpreted it as a vision of the Buddha.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Horse_Temple
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/KanthakaYes, hon, but JingHe is NOT dead. LOL. There is no spirit going to the West here. Why are they all seeing the great General off? They be smokin' that incense, the whole lot of them.
@TaliaToo As I said "Although the body that was there was not MJH's, there was a real dead person and the symbolic representation of the white horse in a rite does not discriminate against any individual."
I wonder why they would need a stuntman for that. Doesn't look difficult to ride that horse and I have seen shots of LXY riding real horses before so I am sure he knows how.
May be to speed up the shooting process. Body double can be used where the actor isn't facing the camera. That's a common trick in many dramas.
Just read he's allergic to horse hair. So I guess they will keep scenes with horses to a bare minimum
eliteles1 VIP
He is so allergic that when he wore the other armor and the white cape, he wasn't feeling well and used the anti-allergy medicine. In that scene he even fell off the horse (but it wasn't anything serious), fortunately.
- Hide Spoiler
I hope she forgives him fast he created a whole army to stop his freak ass brother right I don't want a single episode of them apart lawd
eliteles1 VIP
Hide SpoilerWe don't want it, but there will definitely be a fight of love and hate (but they will soon run to save each other).
lovelydreams
@eliteles1
Hide SpoilerI'm only 7 eps in and I can't help but read spoilers I'm not ready for the pain. How do we're not they're gonna be running to save each other in the next episodes? I saw he dives after her in a trailer but hers already happened no?
eliteles1 VIP
Hide SpoilerBefore (the real pain), there are about 4 or 5 episodes in a village (peace and love in the countryside), which some people didn't like, because it softened the two characters a lot. But I loved it, it was there that they revealed how they are kind, sweet people, with similar souls and it's very romantic (even in the cliché sense), but it's beautiful. So, calm down (there will be this refreshment for our hearts and the main couple's), first.
@ShaashaS Maybe he has the cure because Xiyan seems to be the place of magic cures (the three day dead powder, the emperor's cure....)
TaliaToo
@Stj Because he is the equivalence of the Chinese idiom Green Tea for people/characters who look innocent outside and act like everything is done with a good heart but in reality, he/she is a schemer. If you watch those stories with a good and bad sister, the bad sister is always the Green Tea, getting all the favors from parents and ML because she is weak and sweet and always a victim of the other sister, but is the actual engineer of the misdeeds blamed on the other person. So, XiyanGreenTeaPrince!
@mmansaray35 but I don't understand why this should be a thing. surely people know trailers lie by now lol
DefyingDestiny
@Drama Tea I'm watching Kill Me Love Me and Rise of Ning. I'm enjoying both, but I found outside of my expectations going into them, that RON is more "thrilling?" than KMLM. I'm enjoying the show but it is a letdown. But considering the elements of this drama, I don't know how they could convey what it is without being "misleading".
eliteles1 VIP
I do care. How would there be any excuse in the drama for him to want justice for the 100,000 dead of the Wei Bei army if he was so careless about other people's lives. There would be no justice, and his righteous character would be completely fake, not even a bit better than the crown prince.
Alida3
@eliteles1 I’m really happy they wrote MJH as he is for the drama. I enjoyed the first few episodes a lot but I’m happy he is like he is now. Just a smoother transition would have been better.@eliteles1 ofcourse. but he was not supposed to be a righteous person. thats why i am saying they changed him too much. a grey character is not like others. i dont hold them to same standards. now he is just too nice (for a grey character). also i get redemption but they changed him too soon. and it was sudden. they could've stretched out his crazy era and later developed him into a nice person but his crazy only lasted 3 eps. thats what i am complaining about. now he looks like puppy in love. so puppy that even the likes of yue qin show him attitude. i still adore him but thats not what i signed up for.
eliteles1 VIP
I understood what you meant in the sense of the dark charm of an anti-hero. But an anti-hero would never in the Eastern mind have a happy ending like in the original book (someone who is "really evil") becomes light, a hero and has his happy ending. I haven't watched The Double (and other dramas that commented on anti-heroes, I bet they didn't have happy endings. The king's wife, the male lead was a genuine anti-hero, had everything to have a happy ending, but the writers gave him a terrible ending. That's the point. (I think it would be possible to have more episodes with Murong Jing being this anti-hero), but not commonly in the minds of the writers. Although the director understood this, in the final special video of the filming, the director comments: It's the negative becoming positive, I like this concept". The director understood that the story would be the transformation of an evil person, into a totally different, redeemable person. And what we have in the drama was everything possible they had to build this transformation. To the point of keeping the happy ending of the book (my assumption here in this last sentence).I was actually expecting that'd be the case since even LXY said it's the craziest character he's ever played but it was otherwise.
I also thought it'd be that trope of him only being nice to Mei Lin while he disregards others.
But if they're going for the happy end, then I guess this isn't too bad. What I don't like to see is after toning him down to almost becoming a whole green forest and then giving us a sad ending for the leads.
