On Ep 15 of my rewatch and  the letter San wrote and burned after Doek-Ro’s death reminds me of the document Yeongjo wrote after Sado’s death…both full of questioning regret.  Little did San know as CP that his life as King would parallel his grandfather’s when it came to those close to him no matter how hard he tried to change it...the burdens of the throne.

And Yeongjo very specifically told him he'd understand him once he took the throne. That was a self-fulfilling prophecy.
