The opening theme music announces the thriller.  It is composed by a mysterious “狗神爷爷” (Grandpa Dog God) who composed the  other songs.  Exploring the Chinese Internet, “狗神爷爷” is identified as a musician / singer called “潘颖” Pan Ying, who has unfortunately had to cope with a plagiarism accusation!  (*)

Baidu has a page for her saying "Pan Ying , born on April 6, 2001 In Chongqing,  is a female singer from Mainland China and a member of the female idol group CKG48 [since 2020]. Her management company is Chongqing Siba Culture Media Co., Ltd. "   Nicknames : Gummy Bear , Panda

The OST list, as found on dramawiki, has the following songs :

YouTube has some of these songs  (click on links to open video and listen)

  1. An Embrace in the Dark  lyrics:
    • Look how it's harsh Better leave, better dash
    • From the great danger we were now in
    • Through endless days We've been tumbling
    • Amazed why are we getting closer
    • Don't think it's easy Breaking my stereotype of love
    • Just when I met your gaze I won't flinch
    • So I feel it's time To be honest with ourselves
    • You might think I'll forget about you
    • Can't we name it an embrace In the dark
  2. An Illusion of Love  (from 2:07 in the clips)
    • Act Like Perfect Partner
    • cuz we are involved in a drama
    • fully enjoy it
    • We work so closely
    • You'll whisper in my ear
    • Can't let my guard down
    • We are treading on thin ice
    • Even producing an illusion of love
    • No one can clarify
    • The essential condition of romance
    • Never reject the possibility with you
  3. Burst (from 0:57 in the clips)
    • It's OK to get more insane Till I put it on the show
    • To the end of the world  The world that you hold
    • Try to call up a little senses
    • But you are drowned, but we are drowned
    • Went down on this road
    • Hold me tight and show me more
    • To see the lust through the pall
    • Make the promise and let it fall
    • Tough tough
    • It's OK to get more insane Till I put it on the show
    • To the end of the world  The world that you hold
    • This is not the key
    • To my soul, to my mid, to my thoughts  Nor to all that is untold
    • This is just my way of revealing
    • The dreams that within me are pealing
    • Burst of light that I cherish and hold
    • We can dance in the moonlight  Just for kicks, just for kicks
    • Don't hold back, let your spirit flow   Just let go
    • Spin me round and pull me closer  Till it clicks, till it clicks
    • You reignited a spark  Then it's starting to glow

  4. Bing ?   please add a link if you find it !   ;-)
    • It is perhaps the muted song from 13:56 onward targeted by the accusation below ; only lyrics remain embedded on screen.

(*) The accusation : "The interlude played at 13 minutes and 40 seconds in the second episode of "We Hug each other in the dark night" is plagiarized from Wu Qingfeng's original song "...The Master of Hypnosis". Please remove it to protect original song copyright"  - posted by "AngelFallingToHell" on August 11, on Weibo.  There is a video linked to compare. --but I have no opinion on the matter.

Thank you for this! The songs are the best part of this series.

Burst (from 0:57 in the clips)

Burst seems originally taken from Flesh (Simon Curtis), They changed the lyrics.

Tunes are definitely similar though not 100% identical, and lyrics are different, yes.  Thanks for links.

Nobody has found "Bing" yet.

The "illustration" of the songs with drama scenes made them quite enjoyable, so knowing now about the blatant borrowing (well yes, they could/ought to have acknowledged originals in credits?) does not faze me more than the plot holes and incongruities in this short drama, where all the warts and gaps are bridged by sheer sizzle to bring it almost to 'cult level'. After all, I don't mind the use of other music in fanvids or fan-edits of movies and dramas either ;)   In fact, what puzzled me most was that the songs are not in Chinese : looks like they were deliberately made for English speaking audiences, with some musical 'templates' in mind, almost fanvid like ?  Interesting, those musical references, from these far away Chinese artists...

Nice to see that this "guilty pleasure" of a short drama is still enjoyed by others too. I have added Jesse Ren to the list of actors who can do sizzle in Chinese dramas, like Richard Li and Dai Gao Zheng ;)

Yes tunes are similar and it is not the first time I hear english songs as OST in mini dramas. It might be an attempt to please international audience. But why don't they release the OST ? Nor did they credit the original song writers. This is shady.

As for the drama, ohhh  yes it is what can become "cult drama". It reminds me the vibe of Tarantino's "pulp fiction" but in a steamy way. The music was very present in this short drama. It gave it a signature.
