Hey! :) Im wondering if Im the only one, who doesnt really like remakes of dramas. I mean look at Youre Beautiful, Hana Kimi, Boys Before Flowers/Hana Yori Dango/Meteor Garden or Zettai Kareshi/Absolut Boyfriend. There is always that Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese version. But somehow I think its senseless. I mean once you watched that drama, you know what is going to go on and there is no suprising-effects anymore. So it is just me who thinks that way, or how do you guys think about it? Im curiouse to know. :)
Well I also thought about it like you, but after watching some remakes i have to admit, that i also liked them. They aren't always totally the same although the actual plot is the same, they anyhow have some differences and to be honest i like to see and compare them ^_^
Remakes are a dangerous ground for drama industrie because most of the audience would be expecting something: If it was too similar then it lacks originality but if it was too diferent then it wasn't faithful and if it lacks some elements then it's pointless. I do rather that they make other dramas instead of remakes. However, incarnations aren't bad because they show the three countries point of view about the same storyline. Now that I think about it, I think that we have a similar thread to this one which talks about incarantions but I can't remember where is it.
here's the thing about a good story, it doesnt matter how many times you hear/see it, a good story is a good story. there are no stories that have never been told, the details are just a little different. if the show is well done and the story is good it is worth watching, no matter how many other versions there are. how many times have classics like romeo and juliet or snow white or journey to the west been done?
