I had the thought that maybe we don't see much Christmas related themes cuz Thailand's main religion is Buddhism, and I think Christmas is technically a Christian holiday. I know from my Thai friend that Christmas is not a tradition there, but the bigger cities have malls decorated and stuff.

Yeah I guess that makes sense, although Philippines celebrate Christmas right?

Speaking of Christmas...

An amazing holiday song by Barcode!!

I left a message to Barcode on his YT channel to let him know how much I love his voice, thanking him for the song and wished him a Merry Christmas.

He answered back!! And with snowflake emojis.

It's the little things...*sigh*

Who is excited about the first episode of "ThamePo" tomorrow?  Me, me, me!

Other currently airing series that are bringing much needed joy to my life:
"Caged Again", "Fourever You", "Your Sky", "P10 L" and "Love Sick 2024"

Currently airing not quite in the same league but also enjoying:
"LITA-J" and "Heart Killers" (it seems I'm not lovin' this one quite as much as everyone else)

maybe Jack o' Frost. I can t remember if it was just set in winter.

I don't remember it having much of a Christmas theme, but it's a really good drama.

Some or most Asian countries don't seem to take the same exclusionary view of religion as Jews, Christians and Moslems, so maybe that's why ultra-Buddhist Thailand doesn't see a conflict with Christmas displays.

The example of Japan is particularly interesting: "The Japanese religious worldview is very open and inclusive. For a Japanese person it is completely normal to bring a newborn baby to a Shinto shrine for a blessing, have a Christian-style wedding and a Buddhist funeral. The reason is that in Japan, religions are often seen as being defined by their rituals and practices, not so much by their doctrines. Therefore, it could happen that a Japanese person, if asked for their religious belonging, might say that they don’t belong to any religion – but they will nevertheless visit a Shinto shrine on the first day of the year or ask a Buddhist monk to perform a memorial ceremony for their parents."
