I <3 variety shows, interview shows, morning shows. Hanamaru Cafe is kinda like Good Morning America, but better, hehehe. The only Arashi show I liked was the one with the professors. All the rest give me a headache with the red carpet, "crystals," gold leaf, and velvet, especially the one in the van. I have no idea who does their set decoration.

Oh yes <3 I love Hanamaru Cafe with there one n one interviews in the morning and then the photos they take for the Hanamaru Cafe Album. It is cool to see what they take photos of.
This site is the best for the variety shows I watch..

http://indexjevideos.freehostia.com/ - This one is almost anything downloadable that is JE Related.. Dramas and TV and Concerts..

http://dbskarchives.blogspot.com/2007/08/media-downloads.html - This is the Tv Performances and Shows for anything Tohoshinki <3

I love the korean show X-man too. Sadly it doesn't air anymore either.
Update on the public library resources: I went to my public library and discovered that they have online language lessons that I can access from home by signing in with my library card info. So, even if your library doesn't have language resources in the stacks, be sure to ask about online resources.
ahhh you download. my computer is dying and doesn't have much space left either so downloading doesn't really work for mel ol i'll try to find some streams though.

Kawaikochan: my city's library isn't very hightech or up to date lol but i'll see what i can find out. the university has a brand new library opening later this month so that is probably my best bet. from the outside it looks about 3 times bigger than the city library :P not sure what they'll have for language studies since there aren't really programs that deal with it here but you never know.

new post from tofugu: he explains how to use jdramas to extend your vocab and grammar http://www.tofugu.com/2011/06/10/studying-with-japanese-drama-how-to/
i just don't know if the program he uses/recommends handles streaming vids or if it's only downloads. but either way the transcript site should be helpful. not for me yet but some of you who are more advanced.
and by "mel ol" i meant "me lol" *coughweneedaneditbuttoncough*
Thanks for the link Lady :) I remember checking out that script site months ago, but I didn't know enough of the language to really use it. I'll have to check it out again.
if you're looking to watch variety shows dramacrazy.net has a few. it has most of the arashi shows with which are up to date with raw epis and many of the epis subbed.--mago mago no arashi chan, d no arashi, g no arashi, arashi no shukudai-kun, vs arashi, himitsu no arashi-chan and arashi ni shiyagare. the good thing about arashi shows are they are funny but educational and u can watch them with kids. my 9 yrs old sister loves d no arashi.

DC also has cartoon kat-tun but unfortunately most of the mirrors don't work. and i don't find them as enjoyable.

if you search tudou.com you can find other variety shows that are not on DC but are in raw japanese only.
tensai shimura doubutsuen http://so.tudou.com/nisearch/%E5%A4%A9%E6%89%8D%EF%BC%81%E5%BF%97%E6%9D%91%E3%81%A9%E3%81%86%E3%81%B6%E3%81%A4%E5%9C%92%20110522/

just in case the link doesn't work, go to tudou.com and paste 天才!志村どうぶつ園 and the date of the episode for example:
天才!志村どうぶつ園110611. the show airs every saturday and i enjoy it even though i don't understand much of what they say, cute animals are cute in any language (かわいい)

i also found on tudou:
smap X smap
janiben (if u search lj u may find subbed epis for download.)
yay variety streams :) hopefully i can find some subbed ones. i find some kat-tun clips on youtube now and then, it's pretty funny ^^ (like the one i posted in j music under l'arc en ciel's new single- Hyde doing Doraemon voice!!)

haha ummm.. so this is in tofugu's hiragana reading/writing practice:
hentai da na omae. sore wo yamete kudasai yo.
o_O
iya. warui desu ne~ lol
hahaha so funny, I randomly checked my youtube subscriptions for the first time in a long while and this was the first video.

haha that could be helpful =/
Hi Hi everyone :) This is an update on what I've been doing this month to study Japanese. I haven't had much time, but this is how i've spent it:

Anki SRS flashards--kanji and grammar. I haven't been inputing many new things, so I am mostly just reviewing things I've already learned.
Skritter-- 1 hr /day using words and phrases from 4 vocabulary lists. I use a wacom bamboo tablet now, which really improves the experience. The guys at Skritter are great, too. I'm happy with the service thus far and will continue to use them for a few more months at least.
Mango Languages- At bedtime. The Japanese language lessons are really basic and more like a review for me. I find that if I do these right before bed, I dream in Japanese. There was a recent article published in Science Magazine about the usefulness of this kind of passive "studying." I think it may be working, as strange as it sounds, hehehe.

I am still squeezing in Japanese language reading and listening when possible. I think want to get a solid handle on my vocabulary so that I am in the best position to learn the most during the July tadoku challenge.

How are you guys doing this month?
this week has kinda been a bust for me. i was house sitting and had no internet and i was sick with the flu. i wasn't able to do any studying. but i'm back home with my beloved computer and the internet and i'm going to get right into my japanese.

starting with this week's shimura doubutsuen, vs arashi and himitsu no arashi-chan raw. the good thing is i pause when the large hiragana captions show up on screen, i try to read it then i search for it in one of my ipod apps or google translate. it's always cool when i understand a thing or two in the dialogue, makes me feel like i'm actually learning.

i have 100+ words to learn from learn japanese with the spacing effect and i need to get on that so i can get back up to date. the bad thing is the japanese is written in romaji but the good thing about that is i can write all the words in hiragana in my note book for practice and it helps me commit them to memory.

so i got a lot of work to do.

been neglecting my lessons so much lately >.<
so i did one irasshai video and then some hiragana reading and writing practice with those worksheets i got from tofugu. i only had to look up a couple. i still get る and ろ, ね and れ mixed up sometimes. but other than that i was able to remember how to write them all ^_^ yay me
