So I'm pretty new to Kdramas and Korean culture (more familiar w/ Japan) and had a question. What are the stereotypes of a character from Busan? More than once I've seen when a character is acting a bit rough someone says 'well, he's from Busan, so please forgive him' and I'm trying to understand. Is it similar to Japanese shows and Osaka? Are there stereotypes for other cities/regions of Korea?
I've also noticed that the Busan accent is super cute XDD For example that super cute keyboard player in Shut Up Flower Boy Band, Kim Soo Hyun as Song Sam Dong in Dream High, JR as that boy whose name I've forgot in Dream High 2. I think (I ONLY THINK) that it's because for Seoul social butterflies people from Busan are like "country bumpkins".

I agree with HAVA-RAVA, it's like a social dispute..The Busan Korean is always considered inferior.
The thing is that if your not from Seoul, you have an accent, like Busan and Daegu, and are considered a "country bumpkin" of sorts. There's really not much of a difference just a little bit of pronunciation and slang just like any other county. Koreans from Busan are considered rough, funny, and original. Gyeonggi-do, surrounding Seoul, are often described as being cultured. Chungcheong people, inhabiting the region embracing Chungcheongbuk-do and Chungcheongnam-do provinces, are thought to be mild-mannered, manifesting true yangban (landed or unlanded aristocracy, scholarly official) virtues
Don't personally know the stereotypes, but its interesting that you mention Osaka... In Playful Kiss (the Korean version) the character who was in love with the main girl was from Busan, and of course the original character in the Japanese manga was from Osaka, so Korea seems to define it kind of like that. But they are very similar, both big cities with dialects that distinguish them from Tokyoites/Seoulites... So not exactly country, but not exactly a mainstream/standard/metropolitan image either. And I would assume that the Busan accent is pretty instantly recognizable like Osaka-ben.
Hmmm so it is in Finland too. If you're from Capital area you most likely don't have any accent. But the further you go from the capital most likely you'll hear accents. Especially the people from North or South-Karelia and people from Lapland area has strong accents. I'm from Capital area. Sometimes I don't even understand a word the people from other accent areas are speaking XDD
A bit ironic. Where I'm from, its the capital which has the heaviest accent.
