I actually like it that they didn't retort to some makjang explanation like a secret birth, and hope they won'e play that card in the last episodes.
When he confronts the Queen Mother, on episode 16, he starts explaining what a "pitiful" child he had been, with a vulgar mother who had to earn her living to send him to good schools (schools with royals, no less) and a father who possibly never recognized him until the end (which we see in the first episode: he hands the son Club M, something he clearly didn't want to do before, or the son would have killed him a lot sooner). And I truly loved the Queen's reply: "I have known many people who came from difficult households, but most of them haven't turned like you. They are good, honest people." In a word: don't blame parents, environment and chances to excuse your rotten nature.
Some people are simply evil, period. We can call them sick, but I believe this is offensive towards people with a real sickness.

So, on my part I am very glad this drama didn't go in such a predictable direction and chose to let the viewer be the judge of each character.

LOL, sorry, I just recently found out the meaning of makjang and now use the word whenever I can, like a child with its new toy. ;)

Yes, my mother was here until a couple of hours ago and we watched ep. 5 and 6. She's more and more enthusiastic, and can't contain her anxiety until next Sunday is here (and I thought she loved seeing me... moms :P)
Whatever, here are some "extracts" from our dialogues during the watch:

[Scene: Jae Ha at blind date with Korean/French snobby)
Mom: "Ohhhh, he keeps on talking about her! Can't he see he's already smitten about her?"
Me: "Well, you know men. They are the same all over the world"
Mom: "Now you talk like Jae Ha. You watch too many dramas."


[Scene: LSG stands up in the bath-tub]
Mom: "Oh, what's that annoying black metal think blocking the view?"
Me: "well, you can't expect them to show you the actor in all his glory on an evening Korean drama, can you?"
Mom: "Yes, I suppose you are right. They could have used a smaller object, though"


[Scene: Hang A unexpected announcing at the press conference she accept the engagement]
Mom: "Wow, these Korean women are wonderful!! She did the only possible thing to truly get revenge on him"
Me: "yes, isn't she great?" All the while wiping an imaginary sweat and thinking: how fortunate I didn't decide to show her a typical Korean drama! I doubt my mother would be so enchanted by your average female doormat.

The rest has been a confirmation of what she decided on episode 1: Lee Seung Gi is hot! LOL She didn't use this word exactly, but that's semantic.

She just looks down at him, crying more tears.

Jae Ha: “Hey I’m officially proposing to you right now.”

This episode makes my heart melt... awwww...
