Rita, I would never hit you!

*looks innocent*
Akai before and after the killing:

;)
HAHAHAHA....

Rita, really am I that scary?

But we have one opinion in common.

No re-makes for great dramas!
amrita828 wrote: Mars was a great drama, I wouldn't want a remake no matter the leads. The chemistry between Barbie and Vic can't be recreated - not to mention the fact that they were a couple at the time and it's evident in all their interactions. I agree that re-making a drama which was very good in the original is never a good idea.
On my part I much preferred Ikemen to You're Beautiful, but that's me and I didn't think the original to be a particularly good product, just a display of eye candies, so I personally count this one as an example of a good remake of a mediocre drama - again, please don't hit me. Akai has already done so, she'll be lenient this time, I hope ;)

Therefore, I'm all for remakes of things which were not good enough in the original and can be vastly improved. :)

There is no such thing as a great drama. What one believes to be 'great' another could think of as garbage. I think it is a great honor for a drama to be remade and translated to fit another culture. I love Coffee Prince, would I like to see a Japanese remake. Hell, yes. Do I think it would be anywhere near as good as the original? No. Most of the dramas that have been remade I haven't cared for because I really didn't care for the original.
amrita828 wrote: I second that! :D

Let's remake a crappy drama then, lol.

i have to agreee ... i rather not have a remake of a drama i really like. If anything remake a drama that came out bad but the plot was decent.

Hmm, I beg to differ. There is no perfect drama, but there are great dramas objectively. The fact that we like or dislike them does not change their intrinsic quality. I may not like War and Peace by Tolstoy, but nobody can deny it's a work of art, i.e. a great novel.
There are objective criteria to be used in evaluating a work of fiction. In the case of a tv show, photography, costumes, editing, music, acting, the use of color, the camera shots and last but not least consistency of the plot, originality, dialogues, style of writing.
Obviously, I too can be totally indifferent to an outstanding work of art and be mysteriously drawn to and obsessed with a silly, cliché thing. But this is the difference between taste and/or opinion and objectivity.

I never beg, but my opinion differs from yours. :p I understand where you are coming from but there is no such thing as objective criteria.
I want a Re-make of Hana Yori Dango:) Because it was exeptionally and maybe thze re-make is very good then^^ I bet I would love it ~
i agree with travis's idea that there is no such thing as a great drama if you put in effort you can make a better drama!
akai-kitsune wrote: Hmmm, for me the point is that the remakes are most of the time really crappy just trying to dig some more gold out of the hole the original impact blow.

I consider the Tversion of Hana Kimi as the original and the Jdrama as remake. The tversion is though the budget is not as big way better than the Jversion.
Shun Oguri is one of my fav j actors, but in this drama he is a shell without soul. The main actors are crappy and don´t give any good feeling, but the leads for the Tversion are really awsome and I want to rewatch it.

Ikemen Desu Ne was good okey, but it can´t beat You´re Beautiful.

Hana Yori Dango is just super great, but Boys over Flower I couldn´t even get over ep 1 and I call my self a Lee-Min-Ho-groupy!

I don´t want to start debatting about Kimi Wa Petto.....tse tse tse

The only remake that was really really awsome s It started with a kiss, but I don´t want to think of it as a remake. The original is soo old nearly no one knows it.

And to stay on topic: If they ever are going to make a MARS remake I´ll kill them if they use either Moon Geun Young or Kang Sora!!!!

I didn´t like Barbie, but I watched her with Vic.

So who would be a good Kira?

Yoon Eun Hye would make an awsome best friend, Harumi.

Aaahhhhh, Suzy! Miss A´s Suzy would be great.
If her acting improves she could be the perfect Kira. She is cute and totally the typ who would be love in a pedo way.

wow i didnt expect an attack on my idea from you "kill" is a strong word!
but in simple terms everyone is different that was my idea and if you don't agree it really doesn't matter b/c this is my thread i want a remake of mars. but i'm happy with a response even if it is negative.

but back to what you where saying about boys before flower and it started with a kiss, boys before flower was an amazing remake and im sure a whole lot of people would agree with me.
and about it started with a kiss your just contradicting yourself mars is also a really old drama, it deserves a remake.
AND I DONT THINK A REMAKE DEGRADES THE VALUE OF A DRAMA (and im not talking about gender benders like ikume desu, and boy before flower, tiamo chocolate, coffee prince, and K-POP - The Ultimate Audition these dramas have been used again and again) but we still appreciate them i don't attack other peoples opinions everyone has their own unique opinions and i appreciate each and everyone's. and im sure there are lots of people who want remakes of the dramas they had to drop or really want to re-watch without watching the original with the same faces. for me i cannot watch a drama twice it has to seem new to me. and i have seen many dramas (you can refer to my page) good ones and bad ones but i know i would love to re-watch all of them MARS was an amazing drama a drama i want to re-watch.
