P.S.: I love that the other characters talk about the Dok line and the Pil line as if they were commenting on a variety show/drama. Once again, the meta in this show slays me.
episodes 9 and 10 in the can... Perfect show... I love you. It has become a new measurement in my head of what a drama could and should be, along with Kim Sam Soon, Coffee Prince and City Hall. It makes me adjust my expectations.
*spoiler* Episode 9: Amazing!!! There's so much I want to say, but I don't know where to start. The reversal of situations and Dokko's hilarious giddyness of it all. And how he starts to question himself, about how something doesn't seem right about the fact that his watch monitor is 60-90. And when he realizes.....made my heart skip a beat. And the ending..... T.T

Lastly, I think that was the best cameo I've ever seen. Lee Seung Gi was hilarious!!
Hehe, I was starting to feel a bit guilty about how neglected this thread has become compared to the explosion over at Lie to Me's thread.

Don't have much to say, since I think the show speaks eloquently for itself. Just wanted to drop in and say: Episode 9 was Cha Seung Won's episode. Like msrules wrote, the way he acted out Dokko's slow epiphany was just....*mwah*... perfection.
Waiting a week between each episode of "Lie To Me" led me to start this drama... at the beginning I must admit I wasn't hooked at all, let alone I started watching episode 2 by mistake instead of the 1st and was really confused about the story ah ah. The heroine didn't appeal to me (still isn't after 10 ep., but maybe that's why she fulfills perfectly her role afterall? She's also really badly dressed geez..) and the first time I saw Dok Go Jin I thought "Holy crap, what a JERK!" (and I didn't dig his look at all). Out of boredom, I kept on watching episode 3, then 4 and 5, 6, 10 as psycho DGJ grew on me with his crazy antics! This drama made me laugh out loud like it hasn't happened to me since Tomoya Nagase in "My Boss My Hero". I wonder why most k-dramas I've watched have to be given a few episodes to grow on me... ?

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Anyway, I hope there won't be a sad ending for this! DNW Dok Go Jin to die of heart failure. The guy alone makes the whole drama! This is supposed to be a comedy so I hope we'll be on the safe side but you never know! I don't want to relive a "49 days" syndrom ah ah.

Hehe, I was actually thinking of starting a thread discussing the episode length of dramas and how it affects your drama viewing habits, i.e. which country's dramas you tend to watch more of, how it affects story/character development, etc. Consider this an obnoxious plug for that future thread, hehe.

POSSIBLE SPOILER
I doubt that the Hong Sisters are going to kill off Dokko. If there's one thing the HSs are not known for, it's subtlety, and they've done a great job of pounding it into the viewer's heads that Dokko's heart depends on his National Treasure Girl metaphorically speaking. I think even the quack heart surgeon said one point that his heart needed the "Thump Thump" song to survive. I think it's a safe bet that we might get a medical emergency in the end, but that he'll pull through as long as he has Ae Jung. Which is another pun/metaphor, since Ae Jung's name apparently means "affection" in Korean. So, yeah, as long as Dokko has some lovin' in his life, he'll make it through to the final episode. That's the Hong Sisters for you. If I'm wrong, I'm buying a one-way ticket to S. Korea. I won't be needing a return flight, because when I'm through busting heads over there, I probably won't be leaving for, oh say, 5-10 years. Maybe less if I'm written down for good behavior.

Wasn't he a hoot!? I love that he was willing to play himself...being a complete ass. As if that is the way he really is in life. It makes me just love him as an actor and celebrity that he obviously doesn't take himself too seriously and is pretty secure as well that his cameo personality is exactly how he is not! Such Fun! All the special little moments of hilariousness and meta make this show addicting to watch.

(this forum really needs to be updated with : 1/ edit function 2/ reply notification)

How I pick my dramas, if I choose to follow them until the end and what are the turning points that usually sell me are pretty much the same every time (I think?). I'd be glad to participate in your thread with my 2 cents and see how it crosses with everyone's views. =)

I usually rate a drama's efficiency - how deep it manages to connect to its viewer - on the emotions it makes me feel and I must say tears are usually a good indicator (because I don't cry easily) but this time I laughed so much that it's just about the same for me! I'm really glad I started "The Greatest Love" and I hope the rest of the episodes will simply ride the hilarious flow already established without too much additional melodrama. Congrats to the Hong Sis for making up the awesome character that is Dok Go Jin. If I could compare in my own references, he's just as... wait for it... LEGENDARY as Barney from "How I Met Your Mother". XD

POSSIBLE SPOILER

I invested so much emotionally in "49 days" I don't want to get fooled twice but I think it's also safe to say it'll have a happy ending. The latest episodes kind of scared me when I related them to the title "The Greatest Love" which could actually be interpreted as something regretful, like "the greatest love I've had"... I don't know why I had this feeling for a split second.
lovingf this show right now.. it became a little cocky but i love the main lead character esp his weirdness that appeals me a lot.. i.e. his LAUGH is hilarious ... ROFL ... i am also the whole his might dieing situation .. which to me was a surprise.. it came out of nowhere... i just watched 10th episode and this wait is killing me .. :D ... hong sistas rock ! ...
*spoilers*

I loved ep 10 and how the show is developing. My favorite part of this episode was the superhero references, and Ding Dong selling out his friend for pastries. That was hilarious! Can't wait for more.
I am in love with the two most important men of this drama: Dok Go Jin & Ding Dong.

That is all.
SPOILER ALERT

Episode 10 marks the moment I've officially fallen in love with Dokko Jin. Congratulations, Cha Seung Won, you have managed to get from me the first squee of the 2011 drama line-up. Well deserved, my friend. When he punched Ae Jung's former manager? That got a fist pump out of me. But.. When Ae Jung went to look for him at his home, and he comes out looking slight worn yet so cool, with his dress shirt slightly unbuttoned? I squealed. I squealed like a little pig all the way home. And then I rewatched that scene. And squealed some more. You win, Dokko. You. Win.

Sorry, Pil Joo, maybe you could have gotten the girl if you were in the Real World. But this is Drama World we're talking about here. Get in line behind the other second leads for your consolation hug.
ANOTHER POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT

OK, I rewatched the tenth episode (because it's my day off, and this episode was the best one so far duh), and I think I can articulate more clearly why Dokko Jin has stumbled his perpetually drunk self into my heart. We were probably all expecting Dokko to sacrifice some his popularity in order to be with Ae Jung. However, I wasn't expecting him to sacrifice the one thing that he values most: his image. And he without question destroyed it after beating the manager to a pulp. The fact that he seems to be so stoically accepting of the consequences has shown how much he's matured, and although he still has a long way to advance on that front, he's made enough progress to have me sign up for Team Dokko.

There. I love this drama so much, but all I've been doing in this thread is flailing my arms around out of inexpressible love; I thought I owed this show at least one semi-intelligent post, hehe. =P
I'm only on the second episode, so I'm paying no mind to the spoilers! ^^ I honestly wasn't expecting to like this drama at all and found it hard to get into the first episode until close to the end. Not surprising for me, since usually it takes a full episode or two for me to warm up to a show. It's pretty good though. I like how they end the first episode. Very funny for me. :) Can't wait to watch the rest of the current episodes.

Please come back and post when you catch up! I'm curious as to what you will think after you watch a few more episodes!
