About Voodoo Bugs

This is from drama where Xiang Liu learn abou

t these lovers bugs. It is not from the novel but drama. He knew more about the bugs than Xiao Liu but he did not let her know about yet accept to share it with her, who knew nothing much. Yet also make her promise to do one thing for him. For me personally it sounds like a bit of cheating.

I am thinking about this love bugs curse on love less connection that it can lead to unless troubles and that the couple could not live together if there is no love. Even worse the couple could be killed by poisonous bugs. Is the bugs connection blessing or a curse? I hope to uncover more in upcoming chapters.

Chapter 7 Wrap Up and Overall Take

The Chess Match : The Loser Treat
I consider this whole chess match scene somehow chilling overall rather than competing although it is a chess match. Xiao Liu tried to avoid Jing. Nevertheless, she was  totally happy to play chess with Xuan, and was spoiled by Jing. In fact, Jing let Xiao Liu lead the match, although she's crappy in it, but he will fix it up for her. Winning or losing is not important as long as there is happiness. In this way, Xiao Liu also get to enjoy the match.
In the context, it is said that Xuan only used one third of his skill in playing with others. However, with Jing, Master Qing Qiu, he was putting 100%. He was not so happy he won in the end because the opponent Jing, may not have used all his skills.

...
Fang Feng Yi Yang and Tushan Jing
Tushan Jing's fiance, Fang Feng Yi Yang, had appeared in Qing Shui Town. Was she coming to meet Tu Shan Jing? Her family background was told by Xuan in the novel of how whole family and ancestors are great archers. The legend told that their ancestor shot the star down before.

By what Jing Ye said, it represents how Fang Feng Yi Yang and Tushan Jing were compatible. Because she's beautiful and delicate yet very good at archery. And Tushang Jing can design bows for her. She liked sightseeing and he could drew landscapes for her. And that she's a good chess player.

Nevertheless in this meeting Tushan Jing returned her elegant bow courteously.

By what Jing Ye had recalled Tushan Jing was a great businessman. Moreover, he was sweet and considerate. However, times had changed her master Tushan Jing did not seem to have passion in life as before after disappearing for 9 years. He was treated 6 years in Hui Chun Clinic . What happened in 3 years were unknown. Jing claimed he had no memory. However Jing Ye already suspected the elder brother.

All in all in this part of chapter, we finally Jing's fiance and how much she looked compatible to him. Nevertheless, this was his first time seeing her. Their interaction was way too formal for a couple.

Is it true that Jing had lost passion in life as Jing Ye claimed? Did Fang Feng Yi Yang came to Qing Shui town to meet Tushan Jing or did she have other intentions?

Wen Xiao Liu & Xuan
By the conversation, Xuan had some interest in Tushan Clan., whether the clan would became his ally or enemy. He might have wanted to use Xiao Liu for the connection. He might have guessed the influence Xiao Liu had on Tushan Jing.

And another fact  revealed in this abstract is that Xuan knew his limit that he might not be able to win on fight with a demon general as Xiang Liu.

I may skipped some scene to when Xuan got injured from arrow shot already.

Xiao Liu showed her concern for Xuan deeply here because Xuan was struck by Fang Feng Yi Yang's arrow. She was willing to steal the ice crystal for him. Xiao Liu did show her knowledge of knowing the ice crystal and how to cure it. I think that probably had good impression on Xuan.

Overall in chapter 7, Xuan overall had good feelings towards Xiao Liu although he had not realized that Xiao Liu was his long lost beloved cousin. Xiao Liu had saved his life two times. And it seemed Xuan was impressed by Xiao Liu medical knowledge and skills. He offered her to go with him. And SHE REFUSED. Because she was attached to life in Qing Shui town. In previous chapter Xiao Liu also refused the shelter from Xiang Liu when Xuan was after her. In fact, I have a feeling that Xiao Liu did not want any of these political conflicts in her life . She just wanted a  quiet life although maybe curious and long for advanture at times, a normal life is a treasure to her.

https://mydramalist.com/discussions/lost-you-forever-season-2/119991-tushan-jing-and-xiao-yao-here-s-to-a-happily-ever-after?pid=2904639&page=344#p2904639

Was Wen Xiao Liu disappointed Jing/Ye Shi Qi had a fiance?
Wen Xiao Liu knew that Jing had fiance. But we could all feel that she was disappointed and not feel so right about Jing having fiance. She always comforted herself that it's normal people come and go away from her. Yet she still could not take at the mentioning of Jing's fiance.

Of course Jing would help her very easily to get Ice Crystal to heal Xuan's wound. In here, he also made Jing promised her never to kill Xuan. And Jing agreed easily. We can see Wen Xiao Liu trust Jing completely. Although she may not dare to reveal about Fang Feng Yi Yang assasination attempt on Xuan, she was just happy Jing was not part of this issue. The scene also include Wen Xiao Liu's teasing  to Jing Ye, showing her naughty bubbling side.

Xiang Liu Drowning Xiao Liu for Advantage
Xiang Liu hinted how he wanted Xuan dead. Xiao Liu knew he wanted her to follow him, so she did. Xiao Liu might already guessed that Xiang Liu might hurt her. I felt uncomfortable in reading how Xiao Liu shook his head in fear and plead. In fact this whole scene is uncomfortable to me. In my previous post I have already shared Xuan got shot by the Fang Feng Yi Yang's arrow. The plan Xiang Liu and Fang Feng Yi Yang to work together to kill off Xuan. It was no surprise he will be using Xiao Liu, who had bugs connection with Xuan at the time. Even though she said she wanted make Xiang Liu miserable, she did not clearly hated him that is why she still can talk to him mostly in good manners. I guess she understood well that Xuan and Xiang Liu were from opposite side. Therefore they fought to kill each other may feel just normal to her. But at the same time , Xiao Liu was still clearly siding with Xuan. It was shown by her shaking legs and even to ask him about why he was loyal to Gong Gong. And their conversation is in bicker in nature. Despite, Xiang Liu drowning Wen Xiao Liu for taking advantage in hurting Xuan, he managed to reveal he actually did not have bad feeling towards her even when she called in 9 heads demon because she did not really loathe him. And he only loathe those who look down on him because he 's 9 headed demon. And then he asked about voodoo bugs Xiao Liu used on Xuan as he was interested. All in all , the relationship between Xiang Liu and Xiao Liu could use the term "mixture of not friend & not enemy" . While Xiang Liu was using and hurting Xiao Liu, he did not want it up to get her killed , so far, andd Xiao Liu was scared of Xiang Liu, she still did not hate him and like mocking in front of him.

The Blissful Moments Under the Ocean
Since chapter 3, we have already learnt that water (river&stream) makes healing and happy feelings to Xiao Liu. And in here again she was really happy to be in the ocean. But what more surprising is that Xiang Liu was happy and smiled. Did it mean that he was in love with her ? He already knew she's a woman in  man's body. If so he still treated her roughly before. Why did he make such a vicious deal with her? We will need to see how their relationship will continue to go.

Overall Review

Plot is getting more complicated. Tushan Jing's fiance is finally introduced. She already had plotted assasinating Xuan allying with Xiang Liu. How is Xiang Liu connected with her?

Xiao Liu was caught in between Xiang Liu and Xuan. One was whom she had tie while trepassing Sheng Nong army and another one was her beloved cousin in her childhood, in her past. Xiao Liu protected her cousin at all cost, even to make a deal with Xiang Liu in trabsfering bug.  Even though, she may not be following him back.

Xuan's character  is still rational and good manner even though he tortured Xiao Liu for kidnapping A Nian before. We can see he appreciated Xiao Liu for helping him, saving his life two times and Xiao Liu's medical skills. However, this appreciation of could be mixed up with Xiao Liu's possible usefulness to him, such as connection with Tushan Jing.

And then we can see the voodoo bug is taking more role. Because now it ties Xiao Liu to Xiang Liu. Despite using her , hurting her physically and making her his controlling deal to remove voodoo bug from Xuan, he seemed to have developed some deeper feelings for her. And she,  despite all the hurting, was happy in  the ocean journey with Xiang Liu after they came back from Five Gods Mountain, Gao Xing. And their bugs were recognized as "friend". We know Xiang Liu knew more about the bugs than Xiao Liu. He could definetly see she didn't know. So why did he kept it secret from her, when they were sharing this bugs tie now and he making her promise to do one thing for him, if she break the promise, all that she loves and the happiness would turn bitter. What is his intention at all??? Besides, she felt strange and bad feelings after the walnut melted into splashes of color and half of which which went inside her palm and half into Xiang Liu. Was this only her pessimistic feelings. Or would the bugs become obstacles for them? Especially for Xiao Liu because she only have one life and now is connected to Xiang Liu, who was fighting in war with  Xuan Yuan.

With matters between Xiang Liu and Xuan, Wen Xiao Liu still met Tushan Jing on occasions, and need help from him. He was just so happy to  see her. She tried her best to stay away from him. Yet she still had to encountered him. Besides, she really did not feel good in him having fiance. If we really notice, there is actually attraction between Xiao Liu and Ye Shi Qi. There were several intimate touching, I will wrap up about their interactions and why I think that after we cover few more chapters. We will need to see how their relationship will continue to grow in upcoming chapters.

Chapter 7 – People Become Far Away and the Road Becomes Long:

Global overview Part 1 :

Short analysis, considering the nuances of the characters, the symbolism, and the intricate emotional landscapes.

Passage 1: The Celebration and Chess Match

Setting and Celebration:

  • The transition from winter to spring symbolizes not just a change in seasons but possibly a metaphorical renewal or transformation in the characters' lives. The birthday celebration becomes a microcosm of life's cyclical nature.

Quote: "The cold Winter left and the warm Spring arrived."

Chess Match Dynamics:

  • Xuan's refusal to play chess with Xiao Liu in a traditional manner and his insistence on involving Jing establishes a subtle power dynamic. It hints at a hierarchical structure within their group, reflecting potential control and influence.

*Quote: "Xuan sighed 'Fine, you place the pieces, he calls the moves.'"

- The interaction between Xiao Liu, Jing, and Xuan reveals subtle nuances in their relationships. Xiao Liu's impatience and Xuan's disdain for his chess-playing skills highlight tension, while Jing's willingness to accommodate Xiao Liu suggests a deeper connection between them. The banter and negotiation during the chess match offer insights into power dynamics and the influence that characters hold over one another.

Related passage: "Xuan played a few times with him and vowed never to do it again."(TSJ)

Foreshadowing and Intrigue:

  • The appearance of the Fang Feng family carriage introduces an element of mystery. The golden arrow and family emblems symbolize intricate connections, foreshadowing potential conflicts and alliances. The chess match may be a metaphor for the strategic maneuvers within the narrative.

Related Passage "A carriage rumbled past with a window decorated oddly – with a golden arrow embroidered on it."

Emotional Resonance:

  • Xuan's frustration, Jing's adaptability, and Xiao Liu's impatience during the chess match showcase not just their skills but also their personalities. Xuan's dissatisfaction despite winning and Jing's smile in defeat reveal deeper layers of their characters.

Related passage: "Xuan won but didn’t feel happy whereas Jing lost and was smiling."

Passage 2: Tu Shan Family Carriage

Symbolism and Personal Connections:

  • The carriage, adorned with emblems of the Fang Feng and Tu Shan families, becomes a symbol of complex relationships. The mention of Miss Fang Feng as Jing's future second daughter-in-law adds a personal connection, implying a deeper history and potential conflicts.

Related Passage: "On the corner of the carriage, there was the nine-tailed fox emblem that represented the Tu Shan family."  + .... a golden arrow embroidered on it."

Unity and Disunity:

  • The banter and negotiations after the chess match reveal both moments of unity and disunity among the characters. Jing and Xiao Liu share good time, while Xuan's disdain introduces discord. These moments foreshadow intricate dynamics in their relationships.

Related Passage: "The three of them left the shop and walked down the street, bickering with each other."

Passage 3: Jing's Past and Miss Fang Feng

Personal History and Concerns:

  • Jing's reaction to the carriage suggests a deeper personal history. His silence and sadness hint at unresolved issues, creating a sense of intrigue. Jing's refusal to immediately return home implies a level of estrangement or discomfort.

Related Passage: "The second Jing saw the carriage, the laughter disappeared from his eyes."

Unity and Estrangement:

  • Jing's silence outside the residence implies a sense of estrangement from his own engagement. The contrast between past and present dynamics is palpable, creating an emotional undercurrent that adds depth to his character.

Relevant passage: "They were like strangers."

Passage 4: Xuan's Interest and Xiao Liu's Concern

Political and Strategic Interest:

  • Xuan's interest in the Tu Shan family suggests broader political and strategic considerations. The mention of determining whether the Tu Shan clan is a friend or foe hints at larger-scale power dynamics within the narrative.
  •  Quote: "That will determine whether the Tu Shan clan is my friend or foe."

    Jealousy and Protective Stance:

    • Xiao Liu's reactions, especially his defensive response to Xuan's investigation, suggest a protective stance and potentially underlying jealousy or possessiveness. The complexity of Xiao Liu's emotions adds depth to his character.

Quote: CX: "He listens to you."Xiao Liu laughed “You think playing chess and running his entire family business is the same? He listens to me, because I saved him, but he only listens to what he can listen to.”

Passage 5: Xiao Liu's Emotional State

                                               ***Jealousy and Emotional Turmoil***:

  • Xiao Liu's internal struggle and avoidance of discussions about the bride-to-be hint at jealousy. His self-admonishment and decision to go for a walk indicate emotional turmoil, possibly triggered by the societal admiration for Miss Fang Feng.

Ref. Quote: "Wen Xiao Liu! Don’t be so coddled! Life goes on no matter who leaves!"

Xiao Liu's apparent jealousy and his inner turmoil in Chapter 7 can be analyzed in the context of his complex emotions and the dynamics of his relationship with Tushan Jing/Yeshiqi.

  • Jealousy and Conflicting Emotions:

  • Xiao Liu's jealousy might stem from a mix of conflicting emotions. While he genuinely cares for Tushan Jing/Yeshiqi's happiness, the idea of Jing being engaged or married to someone else may trigger feelings of possessiveness or a sense of loss.
  •    Unresolved Feelings:
  • Xiao Liu's precedent declaration that the girl who marries Jing would be happy might be an acknowledgment of Jing's positive qualities. However, Xiao Liu's inability to reconcile this with the current situation suggests unresolved feelings on his part.
  • (ep.3 recap)
  • A.    Self-Doubt and Insecurity:

    • Xiao Liu's self-admonishment and his shout at himself, "Wen Xiao Liu! Don’t be so coddled! Life goes on no matter who leaves!" indicate a level of self-doubt and insecurity. He may feel inadequate or uncertain about his own place in Jing's life.
  •       Protectiveness and Sensitivity:

    • Xiao Liu's avoidance of discussions about the bride-to-be and his decision to go for a walk may reflect a protective instinct. He might be shielding himself from potential emotional pain or discomfort.
  •     Past Declarations and Present Realities:

    • Xiao Liu's past declarations about Jing's future spouse being lucky could now be a source of internal conflict. The reality of Jing's engagement challenges Xiao Liu's previous assurances and highlights the complexity of their relationship.
  • Personal Struggle with Change:

    • Xiao Liu's struggle to accept the changes in Jing's life, such as his engagement, could be a representation of his difficulty adapting to evolving dynamics. It may be a broader reflection of his resistance to change and the uncertainties it brings.

  • ****In summary, Xiao Liu's jealousy and inner turmoil in Chapter 7 reveal a character grappling with conflicting emotions, self-doubt, and the challenges of accepting changes in relationships.

****His self-admonishment and walk indicate that future events related to Jing's engagement will have a profound impact on Xiao Liu.

Novel :  "Wen Xiao Liu! Don’t be so coddled! Life goes on no matter who leaves!"

    • Ref. Quote: "That will determine whether the Tu Shan clan is my friend or foe."

The overall foreshadows potential conflicts on a larger scale, suggesting that political intrigue will play a significant role.

      • The passages create a sense of anticipation for future conflicts and developments. The mysterious elements, political considerations, and personal histories foreshadow a rich and complex narrative.
      • The combination of emblems on the carriage hints at a complex web of relationships. The nine-tailed fox emblem representing the Tu Shan family and the Fang Feng family emblem create intrigue, leaving readers curious about the connections between these families.

Further  CX-chess game attitude and possible further motives -notes :

C.Xuan's interest in the Tu Shan family is suggested in the passage through his inquiries and considerations regarding Jing's past and the family's influence. However, the nature of his interest is not explicitly detailed. Here are a few points to consider:

  • Political and Strategic Interest:

    • Xuan's awareness of the Tu Shan family's businesses covering a vast wilderness and the potential impact of Jing's role on the Tu Shan clan suggests a political and strategic interest. The family's influence and connections could have broader implications in the narrative.

Quote: "Because the Tu Shan family’s businesses blanket the entire vast wilderness, and he represents the future of the clan and that will determine whether the Tu Shan clan is my friend or foe."

  • Investigation into Jing's Past:

    • Xuan's attempts to investigate Jing's past and the secrecy surrounding Jing's unspoken history indicate a keen interest in understanding the dynamics within the Tu Shan family. Xuan's curiosity may be driven by a desire for information that could potentially benefit him or affect the larger political landscape.

Quote: "I did investigate, but you trained Chuan Zi and Ma Zi well, and they didn’t reveal anything."

Pragmatic Considerations:

  • Xuan's pragmatic acknowledgment of the limitations of gratitude and his reliance on connections and background suggest a calculated approach to his interactions with Jing and, by extension, the Tu Shan family. His emphasis on the importance of time in developing connections implies a strategic mindset.

Quote: "But at least I have that, and that takes time to develop connections."

While the passage hints at Xuan's interest, the specific motivations behind his curiosity and potential plans remain ambiguous. Further developments in the story may shed light on Xuan's true intentions and the extent of his involvement with the Tu Shan family.

Ch7 - (continue) PART A:

Xiao Liu walked along the river and sat down on a rock with his mind in a daze. He plucked a flower and pulled off its petals, tossing it in the river. Suddenly a white condor called and before Xiao Liu could even gasp he was wrenched onto the back of the condor by Xiang Liu. Xiao Liu waved with a smile “Long time no see. How’ve you been?”

If Xuan was dead, I’d be a lot better. ***** !!!!!He have  ongoing plans with FFYY!!!!.****=> Novel extract: "Xiao Liu shut up and tightly grabbed Xiang Liu’s arm, afraid that he would get pissed and toss him off. The white condor flew to the same lake they once came to. Before the condor could descend, Xiang Liu suddenly grabbed Xiao Liu and vaulted off.....

and his body sunk into the depths.

Xiang Liu floated in the water staring as he sunk towards the bottom of the lake. Xiao Liu tried to reach out but could grab nothing and his eyes were gradually seeing black. Just as he was about to take his last breath, he felt Xiang Liu embrace him and a pair of cold lips pressed to his and passed air to him...."

SAME MOMENT: CX simultaneously feel the shock , so hard - that the sword he holds to protect himself, just slip from his hand...*********** The scene (ep.11)=>  imidiatly switch to (35:58) FFYY with the fluffy round ball:

After some time, Xiao Liu finally asked “If you want to kill me, do it faster.”

Xiang Liu pulled Xiao Liu’s arm “Does it hurt?” “He will hurt a lot.” Xiang Liu laughed “This voodoo bug is decent but not good enough.”

Xiao liu: “If it was a life-linked voodoo bug, you wouldn’t even hesitate and would kill me, right?” “Yup, too bad it just shares pain.” Xiang Liu’s voice shared his regret. (Obviously lying as he got all info).

-Xiang Liu asked “Since he’s so precious to you, why not remove the bug?”

-(we know he investigated and knows all concerning the bug/drama-ep.11 as pic follow is even showing that moment in the same journey)-The following part shows Xiao Liu FULL IGNORANCE:

Xiao Liu didn’t answer and thought for a long time. Since he was a demon, and demons and creatures and monsters were all in the same world, perhaps he might know something.

“It’s not that I don’t want to remove the bug, it’s that I can’t. Last time I was injured, you used all sorts of weird medicines on me. The bug had some type of transformation. He asked me to remove the bug and I lied that I’ll do it when he leaves. Recently I’ve been trying all sorts of ways to coax the bug out of him but nothing works.”

Xiang Liu thought about it “If you don’t want to die, then don’t try calling it back. The only solution is to find a way to transfer the bug to another person.” Xiao Liu sincerely said “The only person I want to make miserable is you.”

Xiang Liu softly laughed “Then put the bug inside me.”

PIC Below: The one who places them won't be able to CONTROL the bugs..... “I’ll kill him before he leaves Qing Shui Town, then you won’t have to worry about how to remove the bug. Xiao Liu felt his legs weren’t shaking anymore so slid down his body and started swimming. Getting some strenght to protect Cang Xuan. Can killing him bring back the Sheng Nong Kingdom?” “No.” “Did he ever go on the battlefield and killed Sheng Nong soldiers?” “No.” “Do you have a personal blood feud with him?” “No.” “Then why do you still want to kill him?” “My position. Knowing that he’s right under my watch and not killing him, I feel like I’m not doing my part.” “You have some sort of principles?” “To Sheng Nong I do.”

@Peng-Peng: That thing looks like it comes from furball.

Oh yes :

 =>Ep.11 at (36:31) .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wondering if FFYY did not trespass the clan's rule by showing off her own emblem on the Tuqhan carriage? It seem inappropriate ...is she just making her own parade? making a signal?

Transgressing Tushan Clan Rules:

FFYY might be flouting Tushan clan rules or traditions by using a different clan's emblem on the carriage, her family emblem.  This could hint at her disregard for established norms or her desire to exert dominance within the Tushan clan. (we know she will later refuse to cancell her engagement - married to jing   as his widow she would not be allowed to marry Hou but she would rule the clan thanks to her grasp on "Granny")

Parade of Venue or Public Display:

FFYY may be purposefully showcasing her presence and authority within the Tushan clan, using her clan's emblem. This public display could serve various purposes, including garnering support   and showing her grasp on the clan. The emblem could still be a deliberate signal or message directed at Xiang Liu, possibly indicating a hidden alliance, a shared agenda, or a means of communication between FFYY and Xiang Liu. (wich happens in ep.11 with the furball ball reaching her with a "go" to the plan...)

@Winny Aye : Yes..and since chapter 5, I have a feeling that both WXL and Jing are used advantage between XL side and Xuan side.

@Winny : Xiang Liu Drowning Xiao Liu for Advantage -“If Xuan was dead, I’d be a lot better.”

Xiao Liu’s entire body was still aching so he couldn’t move and could only lay on top of him. Xiang Liu pulled Xiao Liu’s arm “Does it hurt?”
He will hurt a lot.

Xiang Liu laughed “This voodoo bug is decent but not good enough.”
“If it was a life-linked voodoo bug, you wouldn’t even hesitate and would kill me, right?”
“Yup, too bad it just shares pain.” Xiang Liu’s voice shared his regret.

Xuan laughed at Xiao Liu “Doesn’t matter if you guys are close or not, he listens to you. Have him play with me. I’ve heard of his famous reputation for so long but never had a chance.”
Xiao Liu’s eyes twirled “I want to play, too.” Xuan sighed “Fine, you place the pieces, he calls the moves.”

XIAO LIU - TUSHAN JING as PAWNS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strategic Use of Relationships in Chapter 7:

  • Xiao Liu's Influence on Tushan JingC.Xuan recognizes the influence Xiao Liu has on Tushan Jing. He might see this as an opportunity to strengthen ties with the Tushan Clan. If Jing is emotionally attached to Xiao Liu, leveraging this connection could be a strategic move.

  • Xuan's Political Calculations: Xuan's interest in the Tushan Clan suggests a political motive. He could be using the emotional dynamics between Jing and Xiao Liu to forge alliances or gather information. Their relationship becomes a valuable asset in the larger political landscape.

  1. Xiang Liu's Manipulation:

    • XL's Involvement: Given XL's involvement and manipulation in various events, it's plausible that both Xiao Liu and Jing are unwittingly becoming part of a larger scheme. XL might be using their emotions and relationships to further his own agenda or fulfill a mission.

    • Leveraging Personal Connections: XL may see the emotional ties between Jing and Xiao Liu as exploitable. By manipulating these relationships, he could create chaos, divert attention, or gain advantages in his dealings with  Cang Xuan.

  2. Power Struggles and Alliances:

    • Caught in the Middle: Xiao Liu and Jing might find themselves caught in the power struggles between Xuan and XL. Their emotional bonds and personal connections make them susceptible to manipulation by these higher-powered entities.

    • Unintended Consequences: As Xiao Liu and Jing navigate their own feelings and relationships, the consequences of their actions may have ripple effects in the larger narrative. Their personal struggles could inadvertently impact the balance of power and alliances.

  3. Ambiguous Loyalties:

    • Uncertainty in Allegiances: Both Xiao Liu and Jing might be uncertain about the true allegiances of the powerfull around them. They could be unintentionally contributing to the plans of XL and Xuan without fully understanding the implications.

    • Emotional Turmoil as a Weapon: XL might be using the emotional turmoil of Xiao Liu and Jing as a weapon against Xuan. By manipulating their feelings, he could indirectly influence Xuan's decisions or distract him from other critical matters.

  4. Long-term Consequences:

    • Unraveling Events: As the story progresses, Xiao Liu and Jing may gradually realize the extent to which they are being used. This realization could lead to a shift in their actions and motivations, impacting the larger narrative.

    • Repercussions of Emotional Manipulation: The emotional manipulation orchestrated by XL and  Xuan could have long-term repercussions, affecting the relationships between the characters and the trajectory of the overall plot.

Exploring these dynamics will likely require a close examination of character interactions, dialogues, and the unfolding events in the narrative. Keep an eye on how Xiao Liu and Jing's personal journeys intersect with the broader schemes of XL and Xuan.

                                                                    Xiao Liu - Humor touch

Given the tone of the whole chapter/episode, I welcomed this short gag as a deep breath of incoming fresh air...Thank you Xiao Liu :D!

@Winny Aye: About Voodoo Bugs

@ Winny Aye: I am thinking about this love bugs curse on love less connection that it can lead to unless troubles and that the couple could not live together if there is no love. Even worse the couple could be killed by poisonous bugs. Is the bugs connection blessing or a curse? I hope to uncover more in upcoming chapters.

In the novel at chapter 7, he actually , as she states she don't know more than the infliging pain property, say many more lines on it's fonction: - “The pair of voodoo bugs you have is very rare. If you want to remove it, the only way is to find another person and lure the bug into that person. " It's implied-He makes fun of Xiao Liu not knowing more. But close the discussion to get a promise:

“I can help you lure the bug into me, but you have to promise that in the future you will do one thing for me. If I ask, you will do it.”

Xiao Liu thought about it “Other than killing Xuan.”

“Fine.”

“I also can’t kill Tu Shan Jing.”

It is a lover bug that has been connected to a person who  is not her lover. Hence the bad feeling. Bug is supposed to recognised  a lover but it recognised a Friend.

Even than, he dodge from any answering or explanation. Living her with her bad feelings about it.

Chapter 8

My Analysis Part 1

Abstract

After removing the voodoo bug from Xuan, Xiao Liu resolved a big worry and soundly slept for three days.

After he had time to think about it, he realized that he forgot to ask Xiang Liu last time whether the person who tried to kill Xuan was Jing’s fiancee. Why would she help Xiang Liu kill Xuan? Was there a connection between the Fang Feng family and the Sheng Nong resistance army? Or was it Xiang Liu helping Fang Feng Yi Yang this time? Didn’t Xiang Liu say he was a killer for hire during his free time?

Xiao Liu thought and thought and couldn’t eat or slept. But after a few days, he figured it out. Xuan left already so it didn’t matter if Fang Feng Yi Yang wanted to kill him. The vengeance and conflict of those big families is not something Xiao Liu wanted to understand. All he needed to know was that it wasn’t Jing who wanted to kill Xuan.

Xiao Liu put everything aside and went back to living his lazy life.

The chapter started with Wen Xiao Liu being relieved because she was able to removed the poisonious bug from Xuan, her brother from the past. There must be something that she did not want to follow him or reveal herself to him.

Wen Xiao Liu had finally had a rest for 3 days. But then she was still curious about what was going on between Fang Feng Yi Yang and Xiang Liu in collaborating to assasinate  Xuan.

But then she realized that her life was not for it. And for her as long as it was NOT Jing who was plotting kill her past brother then, she will be happy. It is very clear Shi Qi was very very important to her as if he was part of her.

Cutting Ties & Fear of Losing

Abstract

It was the middle of Summer and Xiao Liu was laying on the pallet fanning himself and covered in sweat. Jing entered from the back door and found Xiao Liu fanning himself under the awning and muttering “So hot! So hot!”

Jing walked up and hung a blue ice crystal wind chime on the awning and within moments a cool breeze misted down from above and dispelled the heat. Xiao Liu looked at the wind chime and considered whether to accept it. He already asked for two, to not accept the third seemed rather coy. But the first two were meant to save Xuan’s life and Xiao Liu felt it was important and not personal. This was for himself and made him feel like he was taking something.

Jing sat down next to the pallet and watched Xiao Liu’s facial expression changes. Xiao Liu suddenly sat up and hollered angrily “This is Qing Shui Town, not Qing Qiu! Why haven’t you left yet?”

Jing stared at Xiao Liu “You are here, I won’t leave.”

Xiao Liu was so angry he threw the fan at Jing. “Didn’t you say you would listen to me. Then leave! Leave far far away and stop bothering my life. You are Tu Shan Jing, not Ye Shi Qi!”

Jing lowered his eyes and pursed his lips tightly. Xiao Liu was very familiar with this sight and didn’t have the heart to be mean anymore. He turned his head away and refused to look at him.

After some time, Jing’s voice spoke “You tenderly cleaned my wounds. You carefully washed my hair. You patiently fed me medicine and food. You gently bathed my body. You were afraid I was in pain so you talked with me. You were afraid I was ashamed so you told me jokes. You were afraid I would give up so you described the beautiful views for me. You were afraid I was lonely so you told me interesting stories. You didn’t just heal my body, you saved my soul. You will never be able to imagine how much I wish I were Ye Shi Qi. But I have no choice but to be Tu Shan Jing. Because of this, more than you I hate myself. I know you hate Tu Shan Jing so I control myself not to come visit you. But I’m scared to leave. You gave Ma Zi a family, you found Xan Tian Er for Chuan Zi, you set up everything for Lao Mu. You are already prepared to leave it all behind and continue wandering. I’m afraid if I turn around even for a second, I won’t be able to find you ever again.”

This was the first time Jing spoke so much and the atmosphere was very solemn. He silently looked at Xiao Liu but Xiao Liu never turned around. Jing finally got up and quietly left.

Xiao Liu suddenly collapsed on the pallet and stared at the wind chime. Shi Qi saw through it, that he was planning to leave.

Jing aka Ye Shi Qi was still coming to take care of her. She sort of harshly cutting him out from her life because he was Tushan Jing who was very much living in different world than her at the moment and was tied to his Tushan Clan and the Clan had already  bind him with a wife to be. We can definetly understand her motives. Jing was tied to his Clan. It's unlikely the powerless Wen Xiao Liu and Ye Shi Qi version of Jing had any strength against such high power holding him. Although up till now we do not know about Wen Xiao Liu past but we do know she must had lost her beloved ones before and sort of suffered from abandonment and loneliness. Wen Xiao Liu longed for Ye Shi Qi's warmth. But she could not allowed herself to it. Of course she had crossed this line before in helping her cousin/brother because she felt it was important . And there was a line when Wen Xiao Liu was even thinking that getting favor from Jing felt as if she was taking something. That line made me think that maybe she did not deserve such treatment because she may have thought she could not give him anything more. That is my personal take on her thinking.

Jing must had guessed Wen Xiao Liu's plan already. For the first time since chapter one he spoke a lot from his heart for the first time. He completely let out all his feelings about how Xiao Liu had healed not only his life but also his soul. The atmosphere was very solemn. It was very clear how much he was in fear of losing Wen Xiao Liu from life. I nearly tear up reading his lines.

These lines were added in the drama.

Chapter 8:

My Analysis Part 2

Prince Zhuan Xu of Xuan Yuan

Abstract

Someone walked into the yard and Xiao Liu covered his eyes and said in annoyance “I’m resting, don’t bother me!”

The person didn’t speak and just sat down on the pallet being so still that if it wasn’t that his body didn’t have the scent of medicinal herbs, Xiao Liu almost thought it was Jing who left and came back.

Xiao Liu moved his hands and squinted, then his eyed popped wide open. It was Xuan!

Xiao Liu stammered “You…what are you doing here? I already removed the bug. You ought to have been able to feel it. If you don’t believe me, I’ll prick myself right now.” Xiao Liu looked around for something to prick himself but Xuan stopped him with a smile.

“I know the bug has been removed. I’m here for another reason.”

“Another reason.”

“My Master wants to see you.”

Xiao Liu’s heart raced and his body weakened but he forced himself to smile “Why does your Master want to see me? And who says that if he wants to see me, I will go see him.”

Xuan stood up “My real name is Zhuan Xu. Xuan Yuan Zhuan Xu. I am the eldest grandson of the Yellow Emperor of the Xuan Yuan Kingdom. My Master is the Grand Emperor of the Gao Xing Kingdom.”

Xiao Liu didn’t know how to react so feigned fear “Such lofty personages! I am from Qing Shui Town and not a citizen of either Xuan Yuan or Gao Xing Kingdoms.”Xiao Liu griped “If I don’t go to Gao Xing in the first place, then I won’t need your protection.”
Xuan said “There are two more hours until sunset and I’ve give you until then to pack your bags and say farewells. We’ll leave before dark, and if you try anything….” Xuan waved his hand and the entire pallet shattered into smithereens and Xiao Liu fell on the floor.
Last time when Xuan was in Qing Shui Town, he always tried to use Xuan’s side to solve problems. This time he was here as Zhuan Xu, and he was a Xuan Yuan Prince.
Xiao Liu stared at Zhuan Xu as he stood there with his hands behind his back, an unwavering authority in his eyes. Xiao Liu suddenly felt a sense of comfort. It was good that Zhuan Xu was like this

Xuan said “When I was healing in Yang Valley, my Master came to see me. I told him about you and for some reason he was very interested and asked me to tell him every single detail about my interactions with you. After he heard it all, he asked to meet you. He specifically ordered me to come take you to Gao Xing to meet him.”

Xiao Liu immediately said “I’m not going!”

Xuan sighed “This is an Imperial Summons, you can’t refuse. Xiao Liu, don’t make it hard for me, I don’t want to hurt you.”

Xiao Liu immediately switched tactics and smiled “That’s fine, I’ll go with you to Gao Xing, but you have to give me half a day to pack and say my farewells.” Xuan knew Xiao Liu’s sneaky and slippery personality, and he also knew that a lot of people knew his real identity in Qing Shui Town so Xuan couldn’t stay long either.

Xiao Liu begged “I saved you twice. You are a Xuan Yuan Prince, how can you treat a savior this way?”

Xuan was too smart for that and laughed “The first time you saved me, it was after you plotted with Xiang Liu to ambush me. I let it go means I let you off the hook that time. If you didn’t plant a voodoo bug in me, then the second time wouldn’t have happened and there would be no need for you to save me. Ah Nian is the Gao Xing Princess, and you’ve insulted and shamed her multiple times. You know she is dying to kill you and I’ve been the one keeping her at bay. This time going to Gao Xing, if you fall into her hands and she tries to kill you, don’t you want me to protect you? Who is whose savior is not clear here. ”

Xiao Liu griped “If I don’t go to Gao Xing in the first place, then I won’t need your protection.”

It was good that Zhuan Xu was like this – at times warm and personable, but then able to flip a switch and be cold and ruthless. It was only this way that he could have survived in the precarious position he occupied.

Xiao Liu stood up and went into his room to pack but his mind was racing. There was no way he was going to see the Grand Emperor. He can fool Zhuan Xu, but there was no way he could fool the Grand Emperor. But how to escape when Zhuan Xu came specifically to get him and brought a lot of men. Plus he was under Gao Xing orders and could immediately call Gao Xing troops outside town. And if needs be, he can call on his identity as the Xuan Yuan Prince and use Xuan Yuan troops nearby as well.

Xuan had finally revealed his identity as grandson of Yellow Emperor of Xuan Yuan and disciple of Grand Emperor of Gao Xing.
His manners looked quite different than before. His command to Xiao Liu in such authority is intriguing. What I mean is he did not really care how Xiao Liu had saved him before. By his in here I felt like he could speak upside to get what he want. It appeared cold and ruthless indeed. But it  made sense on how Xiao Liu had sided with Xiang Liu before saving Xuan with life. Therefore it is not surprising how Xuan or now Prince Zhuang Xu might think Xiao Liu was shceming. However, for me is it looks too obvious on Xiao Liu sudden change on helping Xiang Liu to help Xuan. Xiao Liu understood Zhuang Xu although she was in fear. She understood the political matters and wars that there was no simplicity and scheming and intelligence were needed. So she was sort of proud of him on how he was coming. But it's not because she would go with him. Xiao Liu surely did not want to meet Grand Emperor, who would able to figure out who she is after all. So Xiao Liu was sort of running away from her past.
