Sakan:This scene is the best love scene in the season for me. The transition from the desire as a lover to family affection and finally shyness of pure love is just perfection
" Transition from the desire as a lover to family affection and finally shyness of pure love is just perfection"...My goodness, you described this less-than-2-minute scene PERFECTLY!! Zhang Wanyi delivered all those emotions through his eyes and face in that one scene. I hope as his star rises, he gets to chose fantastic scripts and not get pigeon-holed into the same roles like some other popular actors. 🙏🙏
Katelyn Arshi:One year later in 2024, I'm watching the series and I feel EXACTLY like you about EP 14 after Cang Xuan figured out things and remembered every single god-awful thing he had ordered against Wen Xiao Liu. His eyes rimmed with red, tears threatening to flow as he healed Xiao Yao and she, trying to control her own emotions as her own tears began...and he tenderly asked if it hurt....oh my gosh, I was on Team Cang Xuan from then on, not caring if it's a sinking ship. "Every breath, every step...dripped off regret"... absolutely! So well said!!!

I love what you said here. ?? Team CX it is. Sometimes, it's refreshing not the ship the typical CP. I'm completely fascinated by his character and YaoXuan dynamics.
Totally agree that it is refreshing to be fascinated by an extra-ordinary CP. And considering there were thousands of responses on discussion topics that were Xiang Liu or Tushan Jing-centric, and just a few dozen on Cang Xuan, I'm still thrilled to know there is a small but keen Team Cang Xuan, admirers of the complex multi layered character and the brilliant portrayal of Cang Xuan by Zhang Wanyi. I haven't read the novel and hope to read the English translation after Season 2 which I will wait to start when it is completed. I heard that Cang Xuan is an even deeper character in the novel than in the series and there is a lot more disclosed that makes their (his and Xiao Yao 's) deep bond understandable and perhaps worth cheering for... I'm certainly seeing a lot of appreciation for Cang Xuan's character in Season 2 after the first 3 episodes dropped. Really nice to read appreciation for complexity instead of just hotness of the other male leads. LOL!

I'm on Team CangXuan too, as well as the small but mighty Xuan/Yao ship. There is another discussion page for Cang Xuan and XIao Yao over under S2 page 😊

I too have to read the novel once S2 ends. I'm really looking forward to it.

I already love their bond and relationship. It's one of the things I love about this drama. I find it an extraordinary one that is deeply moving. I really like that fans are appreciating WZY's acting skills at portraying his character. I think WZY is doing an outstanding job as CX. Both he and YZ make that bond feel real between their characters.

This too! His complexity is fascinating. We have a clever, smart, intense, brooding male lead who is obsessive, who stares at his FL as if she is the most precious thing ever in the universe. How can anyone not like him?
I just wanted to say that I like Cang Xuan as the protective and loving brother of Xiao Yao. I know he will really stooped so low when it dawned on him that he can never have her and I won't blame anyone but himself for losing her forever. I look forward to seeing this transpire in the drama. I know ZWY will do justice to the angsty scenes.

Thanks for responding, @Blackrabbit63 ! I found the discussion thread on the Season 2 page and commented there to get updates. Honestly, Team Cang Xuan was so small in Season 1, I thought I was crazy thinking differently than the Xiang Liu and Tushan Jing fans. I actually enjoy those characters too and the actors are great with their interpretations but oh my goodness I don't know what Zhang Wanyi has but I give him all the credit for helping me appreciate that red flag characters are worth crying over and even loving. Or maybe the unrequited love is so well written AND portrayed, I really couldn't hate Cang Xuan at all. I just feel ridiculously sad for him. Maybe coz I know what unrequited love feels like...
It's been great seeing more Cang Xuan appreciation on Reddit since Season 2 began. Seems like the first few episodes are filled with shining moments from Cang Xuan and Zhang Wanyi. I look forward to starting soon. 🤗 And yes, seeing a " clever, smart, intense, brooding male lead who is obsessive, who stares at his FL as if she is the most precious thing ever in the universe" gives me all the feels... ♥️😍💔♥️😢

I found LYF in between season 1 and , in this past winter, so I was in a hinterland of finding this show I loved and zero people to talk to about it! so I am sooooo happy that S2 has started and live conversations again. As for my ship, well I couldn't find anyone who liked CX/XY together, so when I came across the discussion board just a few weeks ago, I was in heaven. Other people like me! I too enjoy the other male leads, and no matter who XY ends up with, I want her to be happy in the end. My CX heart though, longs for a way for him and XY to be together.
I love ZWY's acting, and he's not a red flag character yet! Plus, every male lead in this show except for Feng Long is a red flag anyway too, so no one can feel bad for cheering for one. LYF is so good at being outside the box in so many ways - XY doesn't just dress as a man, she is a man, for many many years. And still two of the male leads know almost right away that she is a female anyway! I mean how often do FLs dress as men in C and k dramas and no one every figures it out...or late in the show....XY is abused by Xiang Liu and we still love him as a character. This show turns so much on its head in the drama show world. I find it very interesting how popular it is with doing all these tropes turned upside down. Original story telling, telling a story in a different way, is what we all want, and what that popularity suggests. I very much hope that this translates to more popularity for ZWY too as this season progresses. I think he deserves it, and if he gets down to the depths in the coming episodes as we saw in the drug scenes earlier in the show, I would hope he can get recognized for his work in this show. The only other actor who went dark like this recently was Zhang Ling He in Story of Kunning Palace - another show and character I loved. I think I have a thing for tortured, traumatized male leads!
CX and XY make their bond so strong that it becomes the theme/object around which everything occurs, and CX's actions are motivated by this bond, which moves the story along. I love this story and how it's told, and how every character is flawed, has good and bad, so that we can love them without them having to be perfect.
Well, you can see, I love this show very much and am so happy to find XuanYao shippers 😄😍

I agree, I think even CX himself won't blame anyone but himself by the end, too. I am anticipating some great acting in the coming scenes by ZWY - and by YZ too. They work together and plan their scenes, from what I can see of the BTS online, and I think trust each other enough to go to those dark places with their characters together. He is the obsessed male lead, so the light is his to show us where he will go for her. I have to thank the author for writing such a good story, and characters, in the first place.
I like the "angsty scenes" to come reference. Dark Shakespearean scenes to come!

I haven't seen the latest episodes yet, but I've read that the drama has changed a lot of things that happened in the novel. I hope they won't ever change the lines of CX when he admits that he was the one who orchestrated Jing's ambush. I am looking forward to ZWY and YZ acting when that scene unfolds.
