Can you ladies please slow down? I can not keep up. Bloody work! :-)
My notifications are not working again. Urg!
liddi:
but also embracing her so tightly where she could feel him all over; sleeping beside her every night; the gentle caress of her face; holding her in his arms as he brought her on excursions on the surface of the ocean or under the sea... the list goes on.
Yes. We didn't even get a sleeping side-by-side scene or him holding her scene. I guess it's that whole censorship and got to push the official couple thing. *sigh*
liddi:
YES. That was exactly my impression too. No love scene between the apparent official lovers in LYF. I cannot speak for her modern novels, but certainly, that was what I gathered from her historical ones. I wonder why that is.
I think you know why TH didn't have a love scene for XY, liddi ;-). Not only was there no love scene, but she even explicitly mentioned that there was no consummation of the marriage. She didn't have to do that, she could have just left it and the natural assumption would be that there was a wedding night. But, nope. Not only that, but she included a love scene for CX and XY :-). There were love scenes in Memories Scattered Across the Galaxy; although I'm not certain about Secret Hidden In Time.
liddi:
By the same token, do you have any recollection whether in her other novels, the female lead had intimate, tender interactions with a man she did not love?
Sure. LYF. XY had a few intimate moments with Jing and she didn't love him then. Sorry, far as I'm concern, as long as those Lovers' Bugs are there - one heart means just that, no other love except with XL. You mean, they are the official pairing so there must be love? Pfff :-)! Although from a story standpoint, this isn't something that I insist on.
Ribbing (not really :-)) aside, I don't remember it in the ones that I've read.
liddi:
Meanwhile, we have the 444 kisses... the intimacy and sleeping together for 37 years, which Xiao Yao herself even wondered whether Xiang Liu viewed the seashell as their love nest; the tender interactions with him throughout the novel in her various stages in life including both engagements; and the outburst of grief when he died.
If you read this novel and think that XY doesn't love XL then either there are reading comprehension issues or it's deliberate misinterpretation to suit your agenda. Sorry, not sorry. Particularly the crystal ball with the mermaid in the clamshell imagery and how it tied into XY's blushing thoughts in their previous scene.
liddi:
I felt they had to show her sense of decorum at what she thought was him taking advantage of her unconscious state to kiss her, until she realised he was actually trying to heal her. But yes, a lot of the intimacy from the novel was lost in translation.
That's fine. I just wish we had gotten a few quieter, tender moments instead of having YZ prancing around like she was possessed by one of her other characters from a different drama.
Kokuto:
LYF's love scene was the beach after battling the whirlpool / vortex.
Look liddi. We found the love scene for XY :-). Haha! That scene was certainly described as a love scene.
liddi:
It's a conspiracy, I tell you! Please share the link if you do see the figurines or mini-dolls available for order. I will have a long talk with my wallet after that....
Of course. I'll be having talks with my wallet as well. It looks like there are quite a few merchandise available, but I have not come across them on AlieE. I can't get TaoBao which seems to have a lot more :-(. It's a shame about the unofficial FFB, it looks really nice in the picture.
Kokuto:
Agreed. But surely they couldn't do the same with the beach scene? Heck, all the neck biting scenes were intimate.
I highly doubt we'll be getting the beach scene or any variation of it. Darn unfortunate!
