Hi, I'm looking for dramas that are not romance driven. They might have some (minimally) but the main story is focused on something else eg drama, mystery, slice of life, adventure etc. Solid storyline and just generally a good watch.  Any genre is fine, thanks!

  • Ripe Town (Cdrama) - Historical investigation. Stunning, interesting and refreshing
  • Fuujinshi (Jdrama)- Action contemporary fantasy. Overall very interesting with some fantastic fight scenes
  • Evol (Jdrama) - Superhero type. It's definitely a bit more out there than your average drama but it's also very good
  • Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty (Cdrama) - Buddy detective drama in a historical setting. Interesting cases and an overally lovely production (very slight romance)
  • Wisher (Cdrama) - If you like scifi it's a solid watch (very slight romance)
  • Shogun (Jdrama) - Historical war and politics. Another very solid and stunning watch
  • Parallel World (Cdrama) - Fantasy action and adventure. This one does have a bit more romance but it's main focus is action/adventure and it's really good

- 99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi (about lawyers)

- I Am Nobody (about a group of people with superpowers)

- Mystery to Iunakare (about an ordinary person unofficially becomes a detective)

- Under the Skin (about a painter becomes a detective who draws criminal portrait)

- Unnatural (about forensic team)

  • Kashimashi Meshi (friendship and good food)
  • Kisetsu no nai Machi (light comedy about a group of disadvantaged people that is not without poignancy)
  • Kawa no Hotori de (chill slice of life about the life of homeless people living at a riverbank)
  • Kaso Girei (two men decide to start a religious sect to make a living, with surprising result)
  • Owakare Hospital (life in a hospice, seen from the eyes of a nurse and the patients living there)
  • Brush Up Life (a comedy about a woman who gets a chance to redo her life, over and over again)
  • Maiko-san chi no Makanai-san (lovely drama about the life in a contemporary geisha house in Kyoto)
  • Satsui no Michinori (a comedy about two cousins who hatch a plot to kill the man responsible for the death of their father/uncle--yes, it really is a comedy)
  • Kotaki Kyodai to Shikuhakku (two middle-aged brothers unwittingly help to solve various cases that trouble people)

Thanks for the recommendations!
