So jerk male lead trope has been very popular since pretty much forever in the history of romance movies, dramas, shows, etc. But lately, it looks like the nice / cute / doesn't treat the girl like a possession male lead is becoming more and more popular instead of just being cast aside as the second lead who never gets the girl even though he treats her right.
