Hi,

I am almost new to JDramas and I want to watch more of them. Please recommend JDramas which match the following points:

- no weak / dumb female lead
- less or no comedy
- less or no romance
- no terminal illness
- no pure detective / police investigation drama
- special plot / very interesting maybe unique story
- psychological would be great but is not a must

JDramas I liked so far:

- Itsuka, Nemuri Ni Tsuku Hi
- Sixteen Shoukougun
- Orthros no Inu
- Switched
- Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
- 3 Nen A Gumi: Ima kara Mina-san wa, Hitojichi Desu

Thank you in advance :)

Jin - It's about a doctor who goes back in time to the Edo period.

My Dangerous Wife - There is some comedy and romance, but the main genre is thriller.  It's hard to explain what it's about without spoiling it.  There are lots of twists in every episode.

Kazoku Game - It's about a family who hires a tutor for their son.  The tutor's methods are a bit unusual, and there's a good amount of mystery.

Hanzawa Naoki - It's a thriller about a guy who works at a corrupt bank.

Unnatural - It's about a team of forensic pathologists.  Basically it's a cross between a detective drama and a medical drama.

also check out:

  • Miss Sherlock - as the name implies...
  • Juhan Shuttai
  • Dele
  • BG Bodyguard (2 seasons) -  bodyguards
  • Mr. Brain (2 seasons) - legal/prodecutor
  • Tonbi - family centered drama
  • Kounodori  (2 Season) - medical obgyne department
  • Code Blue  (3 Seasons) - medical emergency department

My all time favorite Kekkon Dekinai Otoko.

If you can find it in High Quality - the original Strawberry Night tv drama. (It is detective/investigation though)

Otherwise, the rest that I would recommend are mostly older dramas mixed with mostly comedy. But do let me know if you still want me to list it out.

Thank you very much! I put Kazoku Game and My Dangerous Wife on my list :)

Wakamono Tachi (this is also called "all about my siblings" and was my first Jdrama. It's a family drama with funny, beautiful and sad scenes also. I loved it so much!)
