Doesn't matter if it's the ML or FL. And the lead has to be out of the ordinary in some way or form. Like maybe they're(as in she or him) "weird" because they've survived a trauma or they have a handicap or similar.

I remember a Chinese drama i watched not to long ago which really fit what I'm looking for, and the ML was basically autistic until he met the FL and they were childhood friends. I don't remember its name though,

 kwoon:

  • Semantic Error - BL - One of the leads is robotic / anti-social / coded as possibly being on the spectrum.
  • TharnType - BL - One of the leads is openly gay and the other is homophobic due to a childhood assault.
  • Extraordinary You - FL - The drama depicts a classic high school romcom / drama story depicted in a manhwa. The FL is the first person to become aware that they are all fictional characters whose time "on stage" (depicted on the pages of the manhwa) is controlled by the author.
  • Page Turner - FL suffers an accident that makes her go blind.
  • Hi! School - Love On - FL is an angel-turned-human.
  • Cheese in the Trap - ML has a personality disorder of some sort.
  • Attention, Love! - ML lost his parents when he was young. He's traumatized and possibly on the spectrum.

One of the leads transferred schools due to bullying:

FL is cross-dressing / pretending to be male at a boarding school:

FL is a human university student, ML is her non-human professor (school is not the main setting / focus of the drama):

  • My ID Is Gangnam Beauty -  FL did surgery
  • Twenty-Five Twenty-One - ML's family went bankrupt, now he has to work and live by himself to earn money in order to bring his family together. The FL was with him through his hardest times
  • Save Me - FL is trapped in a cult and her classmates are trying to get her out
  • Koe Koi
  • 1 litre of tears
  • Black Cinderella
