Friend request stuck in limbo

I denied a friend request from someone a number of days ago and noticed that it's been stuck as 'pending request' on their profile ever since. Their name is absent from the friend request page due to the rejection. If I try to accept through their profile or the user search I get an error that reads 'You have no friends request to this person.'
