Seems like the script is going a totally different direction. It is not exactly a novel but more like a short story: https://www.midnightscrolls.com/2024/08/prequel-to-kunshan-jade-list-of-chapters.html

Thanks baghetti ; I should have checked this out first since I was also checking for the text, out of curiosity.

I tried machine translation for the original versions, but it is of course very frustrating to have to change pronouns in one's mind because "she" becomes "he"  and her name is automatically translated as "Dragon Boat festival", lol.  Your version is much cleaner !

I read first chapter but not sure if I'll go on, before the drama airs, as I was simultaneously busy compiling stuff for the "companion piece" which I started on a whim in another "discussion" thread....

Only 5 hours till airing now, and I need a nap  :)

Let's see when the first 4 episodes land how different or true to story it will turn out. I actually don't mind it when drama screenwriters decide to adapt differently, if they can keep up the suspense and avoid making it boring - after all, the premise of such romances is rather run-of-the-mill : a drama version has to find ways of making it more attractive with visual and other thrills ! If it becomes an "alternate" version or just uses the starting spark to make something new, that's totally acceptable to me, I also appreciate re-tellings when stories only have remote similarities and even different ends: it's all from the "Sea of stories" (getting remote memories from the 1990 children's book of that title by Salman Rushdie, lol - but I don't expect  similarities between the romance and that satirical magical realist novella which unfortunately suffered from the attacks on the author because of his previous Satanic Verses' novel title with Prophet protagonist).

The drama  OST seems to be very promising although I've only found one song released yet (the Jane Zhang one) ; they got favorite idol singers with good voices in : Liu Yuning, Curly Gao, Silence Wang...
