Viroj Tangvanich is Chinese-Thai actor, activist, politician, and lecturer. He has a master's degree in Chinese from Peking University, Beijing, China and is a visiting professor and lecturer on the various aspects of Chinese culture and wisdom.
Viroj has been involved in politics since the 1970's when he was studying history at Thammasat University. He took part in the student movement and was incarcerated for lese majeste, but was later granted a Royal pardon and released after two years. Also, he was a candidate for membership of the Senate in Bangkok in the election on 19 April 2006 but was not elected. In the 2011 election, he was a candidate, under the Thailand Development Party hierarchy, but was not elected.
Currently, Viroj Tangwanit is a well-known gay activist. He is the co-founder and President of Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand, which is a legally registered organization that works on sexual diversity, in Thailand. Edit Biography
