Originally from Kagoshima Prefecture, she moved to Tokyo after graduating from Kagoshima Prefectural Tsurumaru High School to study sociology at Tokyo Women's University. While in university, she worked in theater for four years. After graduating in 1983, she joined NTV as an assistant director for variety and music programs. In 1989, she was promoted to director of "Tsuruchan's Puttsun 5." She transferred to the Drama Production Department in 1994.
Throughout her career, she has held various roles including Deputy Director of the Drama Production Division (January 2006), Chief Producer of the Drama Department, Director of the Drama Production Division, and Producer and Senior Chief Creator (SCC) of the Production Bureau. From July 2009, she served as Chief Producer and, from July 2010, as Senior Chief Creator of the Drama Department. In July 2011, the department was renamed to the Drama Center of the Production Bureau. She was Deputy Director of the Production Bureau's Specialized Bureau in June 2015 and became Director of the Specialized Bureau and Supervising Producer of Drama in June 2017. Since June 2018, she has been the General Producer of the Stock Content Center and Director of the Information and Production Bureau. The Stock Content Center was abolished on May 31, 2019.
